Overheating, constant misfire, exhaust gases in the coolant.

My mechanic is talking $3K upwards for new gaskets on both banks, is this in the right ballpark?
Probably close to that...or more. It'll need the cam chains done too...that's 3 chains, tensioners etc. A lot of labour required to work on those engines, compared to the 3.8 which was simple and bullet proof.

Got a complete 2002 VX 'wagon that you can have for less than the cost of a gasket job on your VZ. 260,000km, new radiator, good tyres, average condition for age and mileage.
