I think it has been well established already that this video has been taken well out of context by CT nutters...

It was from the 2009 IUSY Festival Zánka (Hungary) where...

Quote:
  • The Hungarian word for comrade is elvtárselv means 'principle' or 'tenet' while társ means 'fellow'. As the Hungarian Working People's Party gradually gained power after the Second World War, the word displaced all prior titles like úr ("Mister") and became the title used generally for everyone except for people who were obviously not "tenet fellows" e.g. those who committed political crime against the socialist state. After the democratic transition the word became obsolete and it is used derogatorily to address politicians on the political left.

Since the organisation itself is on the political left already it would seem to me they are just wearing their political leftness as a badge of honour - or taking the piss at themselves... But communism it is not...
International union of socialist youth

Communism does is not the same as Socialism. Best educate yourself to prevent looking foolish. Also NZ is a long way from either form of governance.

I see we have an influx of the hard of thinking - either that or they think their feeble efforts are some sort of trolling.

Yeah - but only to the terminally dim, eh.

Also an influx of feeble "wit" in other threads.   Trolling? Or old fashioned dull-wittedness?

Could be a mix of both, who knows. Big Grin

And for anyone who doubts the depths to which some went during her term, this may enlighten them. Warning; some of it is just vile.

Well that was enlightening...
Indeed it was; especially valid was the point comparing the treatment meted out to Jacinda Ardern to that shown to John Key or Jim Bolger or any other PM really.
There's been nothing on the same level of nastiness towards other leaders that i can recall; apart from a few jibes towards Helen Clark when she was PM & even that was tame by comparison.

Interesting article by a UK MP.

I wonder if those crying communism lived through the days of Muldoon's National Government. Very much Government controlled Socialism - the clothes were wore, the cars we drove, the fuel we filled them with, our wages...our wholes lives were under the control of Muldoon. Sure there was some anger at him, but it was all in good fun - Piggy Banks etc. I guess it drove him to drink.

I read his biography a few years ago, and completely changed my view of the man and his politics.

Good article.   What is emerging following the PM's resignation is that many people weren't aware of the level of abuse she had to deal with, every day.   I think there was a degree of male gaslighting, I have certainly experienced some of that along the lines of "You're overreacting" or "That can't possibly be true" or ""It was just a joke", but also there was complacency and lack of interest.   Also an inability to identify misogyny in the name-calling and insulting jokes that litter message boards and media comments-sections.

Agreed - I sometimes wondered what their reaction would be, if the shoe was on the other foot & male politicians were copping similar abuse.

Probably that would be different..... Rolleyes
