I'm amazed it's even possible to locate that easily. 
Would be like finding a needle in a haystack!

good they found the sucker, I believe that group Fireballs Aotearoa have a network of cameras scattered over NZ that they use to map the path of any objects.
I saw one come in once when we were living in Long Bay, I think it went into the sea. There's a lot of that wet stuff around us, makes finding one a bit of a challenge.

I heard the network being discussed on RNZ. Essentially the more sightings are made of an individual meteor the more accurately they can triangulate onto its likely point of hitting the ground and so hopefully recover the meteorite.
Yeah there was a bit of discussion about the search a few days prior.
Interesting about the network of cameras involved.
We might be traveling through a path of debris in space at the moment.
I spotted quite a bright one enter the atmosphere last night near Tauranga.
