  Politicians meddling with nursing
Posted by: Lilith7 - 07-09-2025, 03:53 PM - Forum: Opinion and Politics - Replies (5)

It seems like sheer idiocy
Health NZ have committed to  employ all graduate nurses, but for most or possibly even all, it may mean just 24 hours of work a week. Fgs what the hell IS wrong with this govt, are they quite determined to destroy our health system by every means possible & so move to a privatised health system?

They seem headed towards being a one term govt, & perhaps that's the problem; they've realised they won't be voted back & now want to do as much damage as they can before the next election.

Housing falls far short of what's needed.

How very unusual for this govt.... Angry

Disgraceful. This shouldn't be happening, no one should be homeless.

It wasn't always like this. It doesn't have to be like this.

Once upon a time decades ago, in 1935 " Then Minister of Housing Walter Nash told New Zealand it could not prosper or progress with a population that "lack[s] the conditions necessary for a 'home' and 'home life', in the best and fullest meaning of those words".

So basically saying that no one could prosper until all were housed. Which is a very different view to the present & some previous govts.

Kiwi Palestinian on aid ship to Gaza

So far, just five ships have made it to Gaza. They're hoping that this flotilla makes it because there are 70  this time, more than ever before.

Thug described as "Australian' by Luxon

Which raises the question that, if this person is an Australian then surely so are all those 501's the Aussies keeps sending here.

NOT that I'm in favour of this nasty, thuggish racist being sent here but if he's an Aussie then so are the 501's.

I suppose though, they could give him a raft with adequate food & water & let him make his own way back... Rolleyes Big Grin

It seems the Aussies have now arrested him as being 'too dangerous to walk the streets'

The situation there seems pretty grim. If we perhaps paid our nurse sufficient to live on, fewer might decide to cross the ditch where conditions & wages are better. Sad Dodgy
