These days they do a ton of research and study before just releasing an organism into the environment.
It may also end up being a case where the benefits outweigh the risks
At least they know enough now, to look as far as is possible, for any potential pitfalls.

There might not even be any fish that consume it, but not sure what other solutions there would be.
Eradication would be the best option if possible.
I think they had divers putting some type of matting over the weed affected areas which smothers it or something.
