RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - Praktica - 02-06-2025 I can't see heisenberg being enough of a troll to induce anything more than a feeling of disbelief in his gullibility. RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - zqwerty - 02-06-2025 I find him fairly annoying. I vaguely remember hearing about them, & there was another called The Divine Light Mission I think it was. Heard a bit about both, enough to steer well clear. I like him. I like CT as well. And dken.I can overlook or comment on their posts the same way I can with anyone else's ramblings. Sure heisenberg sets out to stir, but then, I have been known to wave my own wooden spoon around on occasion. I think we are in dire danger of becoming a stagnant pond if we start picking and choosing who we let in here on the basis of the way they post. After all, reading anything is a personal choice. Don't like it, move on. And, for the record I see no benefit to be gained from calling people names. It says more about the person doing it than their target. By a couple of respected international podcasters... They are fans though. RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-06-2025 Yeah, just ignore that really interesting on topic interview link I posted, in favour of childish squabbling. Oh dear, my Bad Mummy is showing again! RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - king1 - 03-06-2025 yep just focus on the issues folks - petty name calling and labels has no place in a healthy debate RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - heisenberg - 04-06-2025 (02-06-2025, 08:20 PM)zqwerty Wrote: I find him fairly annoying. I particularly like the bit about comparisons, reminds me a bit of Trump's favourite response when someone gets a bit sharp with him 'oh that's a nasty question/woman/university/democrat' but doesn't actually respond to the point. Tim does exactly what Ardern says the critics will do... Yup, vehemently caustic, but without a lot of actual real critique. So maybe he really doesn't have anything? Except vitriol? Which is sad really... RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - heisenberg - 04-06-2025 (04-06-2025, 07:18 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Wow, he's quite definite isn't he? There's no meat in that piece. Just vitriol. Where's the critique of her failures in governance? Could he not find any? RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-06-2025 One of many. Still, not many of them are internationals with the status that lends credibility. RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - zqwerty - 04-06-2025 Yeah I just don't get the hatred towards Jacinda, at the very least she was adequate as a Prime Minister and I would say she was very much better than adequate. I don't know what's wrong with the people who seem to not like her but the hatred involved is beyond credibility, there is something else in the background. Maybe old fashioned bitter and twisted males from the last century hating a young woman who was better at the job than all the old bastards put together. I think it's the result of many years of women expanding their role in society - insecure men see that as a threat to their status. The right also felt they were robbed of an election victory in 2017, and we know that they are quite prepared to lie, cheat, and fight mean and dirty to get their way. RE: An interesting interview with Jacinda Ardern - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-06-2025 I think there is this idea too that kindness is a weakness, and a government with that as a mainstay is also weak - or possibly communist. It is though the same kind of thinking behind support for militarisation, for strong border maintenance, for limiting or selecting refugees, and for internal tough on crime stuff. Unfortunately, it also finds the race to personal wealth building admirable, even when it becomes patently a symptom of mental illness, and celebrates othering in order to bolster self esteem. Lots of things wrong with the way we as a species operate. Thank goodness though we can still be optimists. Even if some days that takes effort. |
