Morning everyone

A Beautiful day out. Was cool, but as I put the heater on yesterday it wasn't too bad.. But it was obviously too cold for my left foot. It had become uncovered and I woke up wondering why it was so sore lol... Fine now lol.. Im not a sock wearer, but perhaps I should at night time lol...

Once again I fell asleep during the Sewing Bee. Didn't even see who won the bag challenge or the final challenge.. Can anyone enlighten me as to who went out.. It had been a long busy day lol.

Have my date for the inorganic, so after I've done my car exercises, Im going to drag out some of the boxes of stuff I have to get rid of. Thankfully I can put it close to the fence and cover it. Will be pleased to get rid of it and David will help me get the gardening stuff from the back, just rubbish stuff.

Have a fab day everyone.

Good morning.

Gorgeous day,  hint of a frost here apparently.

Have got in groceries and veg soup on ... always a good smell!

Lucky you having a cook KM. Mr R had to finish chopping the veg for the soup before as I cut the end of my thumb ... yet again! That's as far as kitchen cooking goes but to be fair I should let him loose to learn!

The Sewing Bee was a good show last night (recycling)... not easy turning crocheted rugs into clothes. Apparently crochet clothes back in fashion. Better get out my crochet hook!
Popeye, I deleted who won and went but can let you know later if you want.

Catch up around the house/ garden today.  Expect family around tomorrow.

Enjoy the day all.

I follow a couple of fashion design school students who seek out antique fabrics and make their own clothes from them. Amazing what they come up with, and the final shots of them wearing them in the streets of New York are wonderful.

And I really enjoy seeing lanky young men expertly manoevering tailor chalk and sewing machines.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-05-2024

I also enjoy watching men sew, both hand and machine. Their ideas are so different to ours.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-05-2024

I asked a friend.. I liked Matthew, he was different to a T lol. But she said his last garment was a dogs dinner basically.

I've moved everything I had boxed up for the inorganic collection.. Proud of myself too cos a couple of the boxes were heavy, and I've covered it all.

Sat in the car and a week ago I couldn't even touch the pedals but it was easy.. but I practiced and I will again later, and again tomorrow. Speeding up the time between the accelerator to brake time.

Resting the knee now. Madam sitting on my lap having a wash lol.

Just discovered they have delivered my pills that they owed me so Ill grab those when Im up.

Think I might go out on Tuesday and get the veges and soup mix for the soup for the Girls. And get take aways.. Bad ones lol.. well not too bad cos they have the best sausages but their fish is tiny lol

A good day

@popeye333, just be aware that driving post surgery can present insurance issues. My surgeon's take home 'instructions' had a suggestion to that effect and I left it until about 5 weeks after surgery before I drove. In my case our car is an EV so essentially automatic but with the regenerative at maximum it will stop completely if the throttle is lifted so no braking required except in an emergency. My surgery was on my left knee which made the situation easier too.

Im 7 weeks 2 days, so it will be nearly 8 weeks if I drive on Tuesday.

Base your judgement on how you feel in yourself rather than comparing to my situation. I was walking (carefully) without crutches less than a week after surgery so well ahead of most.

And popeye, you were on the ward for longer than most. You are doing so well now, I worry when I see the word 'heavy' though lol...

morning ladies Smile Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there Smile Heart

Another awesome frost this morning, it's a real doozy and even reaches under the trees. Last evening we watched the southern lights. Son texted from Perth and said they saw it there and further north at the mines and our daughter took the kids to higher ground in Whanganui to see it as well. It's a bucket list thing for me so I was more excited than MrK lol. I never thought we would see it this far north.

MrK's bandage comes off today, his life will be a lot easier without it. His most frustrating thing was pulling his pants up lol.

Son's motorcycle jacket arrived safely in Perth, sent a day after we his computer stuff which hasn't arrived. He's getting a tad annoyed with the postal system. I suspect customs have had a good nosey around his computer which could be why there is a delay. I asked him if he deleted any porn... got the 'OMG MUM!!!!!!' comment Tongue

A few more pohutukawa to stitch and I can begin cutting the outside edge of the runner.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-05-2024

I had a pleasant trivial surprise this morning! I have a ten year old glass Breville kettle which gets a lot of use and develops a limescale issue in the process. I have tried lots of remedies which work to varying extents but each of which require repeat applications to be effective. Last night after boiling the water to fill the hot water bottle I popped a big spoonful of citric acid powder into the hot water remaining and left it overnight. This morning the kettle was as shiny as the day I bought it home...

Now, if only that stuff fixed the automatic shutoff thing that hasn't worked for months!

Thank you handy hint from google's search page screen saver...

Happy Mother's Day.

Nice and sunny now ... after another light frost.

I could only see a faint pink glow of the Australis Aurora from our house but photos sent from various friends and family from around the country were stunning. What an experience for many ... braving the cold well worth it.

Son and family bringing morning tea this morning and then the day is ours.

I will have a look in my crochet square bag later and might fashion a jacket for my old dog,  lol. She could do with some more warmth at night.

Your runner coming together KM, sounds fab.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-05-2024

Morning everyone

Another chilly start.. but I Love winter so bring it on. No matter how cold it gets lol.

Oh Ill be careful re the driving. I cant afford to hurt anyone else, or me or the car even tho its not my fave.

My foot has been sore and I think its just the transition of walking on my tippy toes and the flattening of the foot. I always listen to my body so it will happen when I feel fully confident..

A sister friend is coming to get some of my big pots,, I'm keeping 3. Shes an avid gardener and for the small amount of greens I eat AND having a fridge that will keep a lettuce fresh for weeks I dont need to grow anything. The birds enjoyed my lettuces more than I did last summer.

So Im keeping my huge tub which has the old fashioned violets and a few bulbs, hopefully the new daffodil bulbs will come up too, and My chives.. The rest will go and the old desk things are sitting on will go in the organic. Ill get my sister friend and her hubby to carry it to the pile. Through the houses is shortest and they can keep it off the carpet where I would have to drag it through.

Anything that doesn't get out to the inorganic David is getting another skip.. Only this time he needs to tell me before it leaves lol..

It was good doing something productive yesterday. And its made a bit more room in the garage too. Ill tell the hubby to have a wander around and see if there is anything else he needs. Im giving him an older electric weed eater too.

Gotta make a pudding later too.. Ill do it mid afternoon and then the heat can warm the house.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-05-2024

morning ladies Smile  it's nice to have a tad warmer start to the day even if it does mean rain. Over the last few frosty mornings I have been smug thinking how I beat the frosts with the weeding.  The ground is becoming quite cold now.

Today might be a sewing day, hand or machine, it doesn't matter.  Might even be daring and do both.  I have the fabric for MrK's gardening cushion so no excuses not to sew it.

I took some pics of the runner, there is still a lot of stitching to go.  At least it's pretty straight forward now.  The hardanger is very plain as my sister-in-law has a gorgeous wooden table and I want that to shine through. There is also soooo much hardanger to do (over 4 meters counting both sides and the ends), I just want to get it done without fuss.  And she prefers things not to be too 'fancy'.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

Overcast but a bit warmer than it has been.

Stunning runner KM. A lot of meticulous work gone into that piece. What a lucky recipient. Is there a special tool to do the "cutting"?

My day will be occupied with Mr R and hospital  ... no brekkie for him!

Enjoy the day all.
