RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 17-06-2024 Good morning -sky is clearing going to be a nice day but we need rain Decided to do variations of onion flavours and techniques like I did with the sauce - did some jars yesterday with honey non soaked - have another lot in brine soaked over night which are going to have peppercorns bay leaf and a dry chilli.I did that with my tomato sauce made several recipes- the kids like your plum recipe best kiwimade that I turned into tomato My sawmilling son is on the trade delegation to Japan - have told him to buy a ticket and fly on a normal plane ! Nicola Willis introduced a bill to enable parental leave to be split between patents - Labour voted it down no doubt she will get it through now she is in parliament .They had a fantastic day care out at the polytechnic - was set up brilliantly for young Mums to be able to finish off their education while being taught mothering skills but unfortunately when Hipkins polytechnic restructuring took place it was closed down .Some of the motel families have 9 children - 6 is quite normal - when you are delivering food to them you realise how much they need and how difficult it must be these days having a large family Popeye my Nana had dementia - they have no control over what they say - sounds awful but you need to think about you - do you need him in your life if he does have dementia because he will keep hurting you he can’t help it - life’s too short RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-06-2024 (17-06-2024, 07:49 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies I offered to send Whittakers to the kid but was firmly put in my place with 'oh we can get that here...' I bet it is more expensive though, knowing shipping costs... ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 17-06-2024 Good morning. The sun is trying to come out after plenty of rain overnight. Nearly 100mm over the last 5 days ... always the way, not enough or too much! GC day today and pleased to make kindy/ school and keep dry this time. Will have a go with washing on the line. I agree, you have made contact by email Popeye, just get on with your life now and only socialise with those you enjoy being around. I have the little denim jacket and been told butterflies, bees, flowers and fairies please ... sounds easy ... adding buttons will be anyway ![]() Welly family have been knocked around with Covid ... I have just read there's a 'tricky' new variant, at its 6th peak about. The GC tell me lots of kids away from school. Yikes ... we so don't want it. Coffee time. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-06-2024 Yup, when I got my 7th jab I was told it covered the latest 'new' version, but I'm still being very careful. That reported symptoms graph on the Flu Survey is still high. Not up to 2022 yet, but heading that way. Roma, sounds like a little applique is called for! Makes stitching for texture over the top of the added piece really easy, definitely a favourite technique for this lazy needlewoman. And oh for a fuzzy bee or two! I am quite envious - but I did have a fabulous bit of luck last night. My amateur repair on the torn pocket of my leather jacket needs a bit of concealment or disguise and I had been considering adding a bit of guipure lace, but last night I came across a listing for a vintage black soft leather wallet trademarked with a phrase that could have been made just for me. So I'm thinking of grabbing that and appliquing just that section over the repair, I can use the rest of the leather to put elbow patches on a sweater that is getting a bit thin on the arms, so double duty for a tiny outlay. I just need to practice hand stitching leather, fortunately I have the perfect vintage waxed linen thread on a wooden reel in my very eclectic yarn collection. Be nice to use what has been a decor item for a change! Now to find my sharpest needles... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-06-2024 lol OHH, I know it won't be cheap sending it to him but for him it will be 'free' chockkie. You can use a frixon pen for embroidery, roma, as heat from an iron will take any markings out. There are also heat transfer pencils you can buy if you want to trace a pattern and then transfer it via the iron to the jacket. Don't forget to reverse the picture though on the tracing paper. But a good old fashioned pencil also does the trick and I've been using that a lot as well. I used the pencil for my bird embroidery. The things which are going to benefit everyone both now & into the future - & that's what seems lacking, politicians able to take a longer view than their term in govt, & politicians able to put their own stuff aside & work together for everyone's good in the long term. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 17-06-2024 Well it was a quiet day at the home Irene isn't well so in bed. No show from David, but I did get a couple of texts. Id say he has been drinking.. But Id say he has just learnt a very BIG lesson.. Don't give out your business email, for private reasons. An email that your staff can read.. Of which they did. They saw what I sent before he did. It appears he hasn't told any of them that he is Gay.. not that its anyone's business. I didn't actually say he was gay in the email, but I did mention his Partner. So they could guess. He thinks some may leave. I said well that's their choice, but he should be proud he is gay and should be able to shout it from the roof tops. Im glad he has made contact. It would be hard to avoid each other. But he knows not to push me again. And I will only see him at the Home. Not anywhere else. Popeye - did you not realise his email wasn’t private? unfortunately some work colleagues still do not accept gay work mates - ask Kiri Allen .Intolerant state servants within her ministry destroyed her . RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-06-2024 On that subject today's youtube learning came courtesy of Robert Sapolsky, who is a hippy looking professor from the US known for his views on free will, or the impossibility of it - today I heard him talk about biological sex, gender, and the variations that occur. It is always fascinating to listen to scientists who can communication the most complex ideas clearly and without attitude. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Sapolsky Definitely a good background to another few inches of this little vest I am knitting. Stocking stitch and learning, keeping fingers and brain healthy. Didn't have a clue Jan. No sign or a business name in the name of the email. And he should have thought to keep his business and private emails separate. Was just his name, no business name. His mistake, and I hope he learns from it. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-06-2024 morning ladies ![]() Another You Tube clip to listen too, OHH lol. I have some intolerant family members on my side of the family, won't even acknowledge my cousin's boy and when they do, the look on their face says everything I need to know about their attitudes. It's disgraceful the way they behave. I've paid the bills that need paying and will do the grocery shopping today. I need more thread for the pohutukawa flowers as well. I'll risk hanging the washing out before I go, yesterday's washing was mostly dry outside so maybe I'll have the same luck today. We didn't need the heatpump on last night, that's four nights over the last week so far. It's a weird winter, that's for sure. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 18-06-2024 Good morning. What do you know, it's raining and there was quite a bit overnight. We are the same with the heating not being needed nearly as much so far this winter. Which reminds me, I need to "book" in two power free days we've "earned"! Thanks for the embroidery tips. Some time soon I will sit down and sketch a few ideas on paper. I have some ideas, just need to put together, get a pencil and start. The cardi will be finished first ... half the (2) sleeves done. No particular plan for the day. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 18-06-2024 Morning all Wet More of the same for me cleaning all windows today who needs to go to thengym ![]() Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-06-2024 Morning everyone The Sun is out. Very wet on the ground tho. A little chilly this morning. Took ages to get to sleep last night. but got there in the end. Im vacuuming today. Ill divide it up with mini rests in between. Took the big step to change my bank accounts with Winz late yesterday. The Bank wont let me keep the joint account open, since MrP died. 5 months today actually, and its also 35 years since I went home with him today too lol. Personally I dont see why they cant just take him off it. So I had to give Winz another account and will set up the automatic payments from that one. Thankfully setting up Aps online is free. And since Im in credit with all of them I will have an extra little this week and start them all up next week. Just pleased I dont have to go to an actual bank. Although I do think they used to have a branch in Auckland. Otherwise Id have to got to Stratford Taranaki. lol I didn't hear back from David after a few texts yesterday. I guess he has a lot to think about. Its a big secret to keep, but his own mistake for giving me a business email. But Maybe it will actually be good in the end. But I am pleased he made contact and doesn't appear to be angry. As we still have to see each other at the rest home. Wow Orchestral Maneuvers (SP) are coming back to NZ Next year.. One of the few groups I liked Last century lol. Have a fab day everyone. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-06-2024 morning ladies ![]() ![]() Our smart meter isn't that smart after all and has died. We only found out as Genesis asked for another photo of our reading. So much for a new smart meter. We're over it. We've had nothing but trouble with power meters here. I don't know why banks won't just take MrP's name off the accounts either, popeye. Maybe it's some legal thing. As you say, it would be a lot easier. I have an account in my name only for this reason. No plans for today, we may sneak over the hill with our lunch and have it by the beach. Will see how we go. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-06-2024 Morning everyone A pink sky this morning, so more rain later I guess for us. Yeah its annoying Kiwimade. Been with the banks and power company re two names for many many years. I had other accounts, so at least I didn't have to travel to open a new one. My St Johns alarm is my bug bear at the mo. Cos Chorus is changing to 4G the alarms had to be changed, Just the box. And its nearly a month and there hasn't been a week that they have either phoned me or my support person to say the batteries in the box or the pendant are flat. Tested while talking to them, they are fine. but they are still coming AGAIN tomorrow. Annoying but it is for my own safety. Im going up to the home today. Irene is still down so I want to see her as much as possible. Today is painting day and its one of her Loves, so maybe she will get up for it. Fingers crossed. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 19-06-2024 Morning all Bit of cloud but expect it to be fine all be it chilly day Goodness what do you do to your power meters KM very inconvenient for you. Can't see the logic in not being able to remove person from joint account Popeye Up early ie 6am person collecting our rimu tv sideboard arrived 7am he originally wanted to come at 6 that was squashed. Op shop coming to get the big stuff today so that will clear the decks so that we can continue cleaning. Have appointment this morning and we hope to get our covid boosters this afternoon then off to buy wall bracket for the TV.. our neighbour has been away for past month her bathroom was being gutted and re fitted. The plumber has hardly been there gentleman's hours 10 - 3 on the days he did turn up she returns today and her bathroom is not finished she will not be best pleased. Did manage to do some knitting last night. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 19-06-2024 Good morning. Sunny but a cool wind outside. I don't know what your bank's problem is Popeye, but my parent's joint acount became my mum's sole account (her name only) when my dad died. Groceries before long and a few other jobs to do while out. Housework awaits then finish off the sleeves later. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-06-2024 Yeah I dont see why they couldn't take his name off the bank account either. But they said they had to close the account in 6 months. And with the power, I hadn't told them MrP had died yet. But they decided as a company to not have joint names on accounts. So they chose to keep MrPs name on the account. So I phoned them and told them it was totally sexist. And that if they were to check back they had never spoken to him at all in the 30 plus years we had been with them. then I said well you can have it in his name if you want.. BUT he died in January so he wouldn't be paying any bills. Very quickly they had to change it into my name, a new account number and all my credit rating, out the window. I was annoyed bigtime. Idiot companies if you ask me RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 19-06-2024 One reason to close joint accounts when one party dies is because later developing estate matters can cause complications, so the banks want to wind up and shed their responsibilitities as quickly and neatly as possible.Hence they require all the usual documentation from surviving parties and close off the business relationship, thereby passing responsibility on... I have never understood the motivation beyond challenging wills and claiming on estates, but lots of people do it. Just as lots of people use their final wishes to do harm to others. Human beings are weird creatures. And banks know it, lol. |
