Oh so clever Jan...

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-10-2024

New shower head! Oh, what a difference. Almost like a real shower, lol.

And the building survey thing was interesting. It was to check building levels. Silly, I could've pointed out the cracks in the wallboard on the uphill exterior wall, and the difference in levels I found when putting a shelf up on that wall in the kitchen. Apparently they are deciding whether or not to relevel the block.

All while crying poor in the local paper. Sheesh, I hope this doesn't threaten my staying here. I really like this flat, with all its flaws. More 2am worrying, lol... But the shower... I am tempted to go jump under that spray!

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 09-10-2024

That's looking good Jan, well done. Another to be handed down in the family. Smile

And many happy showers Hunni. Hope the levels are OK.

Went out earlier & got another Pam's Spanakopita - dinner tonight & the rest into freezer. Spinach & feta in filo pastry takes some beating imo.

Things are looking extremely scary for Florida, hope they can all evacuate in time with their pets.

Grandson is in bed Big Grin Go us lol

I know what it's like having the shower mended and decent water pressure! When we replaced the house pump our shower started leaking with the new pressure and $480 later, it was fixed. But ohhhh boy, that was $480 well spent!

Great blanket, Jan Smile Worth the effort to finish it.

Tomorrow, grandson and I are visiting the space museum place at Te Awamutu. Lots of hands on stuff and a turn with a visual reality gadget.

We went to the book fair and were there bang on 9.00am, opening time to find the place full of professional book sellers. They were taking all the books of popular authors, stuffing them into these huge bags and buying to resell. They were working in teams and taking all of our favourites and top authors. The charity running the fair don't care as the books are being sold. One elderly lady was furious, saying where was the community spirit! I suspect they weren't part of our community and were 'doing the rounds' of book fairs.

Might work some more on the jacket, not far to go now.

Morning everyone

Cool here today.

Jan its Beautiful.. You are sooo talented.. It will for sure be a family heirloom.

Oh Kiwimade Im sure you will have one Buzzed out grandboy after todays adventure..

Had a nice time painting yesterday. Was just our wee group to start with. 3 of the others had gone out for morning tea. So it was nice and only two more joined us for the afternoon. our Annie came which is a first, and rest home Dianne came too.

Shopping at some stage today. But Im soo sore from my , wont say fall, I leant over the arm of my chair and sort of stumbled? crunching my ribs on the arm of the chair. And of course its the side I was seeing my DR about which has been sore in the lymph nodes area.

I should finish my Blue Poppies today. I must show you the results of all 3 Ive done. Im looking forward to completing this one cos its going to be beautiful from a distance.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 10-10-2024

Good morning.

A cold start but the sun is shining.

A beautiful piece of work Jan. You will be happy for it to go where it will be appreciated and valued.

A nice day with family yesterday and a beach walk later on .  The holidays have flown by ... can't believe it will be the last term of school year already!

How annoying to see all those books being scooped up KM. Those people will know exactly what they are doing,  a bit like the Op Shop hunters who do the rounds.

A catch up day today.  Patiently waiting for my dahlia tubers to arrive for planting.

Enjoy the day all.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-10-2024

That happens at our local free library too. So I have started writing 'donated to the free library' on the fly leaf in my discards. At least then the pirates will be shamed.

It is frustrating, because these guys won't even pay a decent price to sellers, they really are ripping people off. Sad, because used books are precious things and ought to go round and round...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-10-2024

I like the idea of writing that in the fly leaf, OHH.

We visited the Space Museum at Kihikihi and OMG, what a place. Nothing to look at from the outside but it was stuffed with space info and things for grandson to do. We both did the Virtual Reality and wow, just wow! If you get a chance to have a go with VR, do it, it will blow your mind lol. And a fair entry price too, $12 for adults, $8 for kids and free for kids under two. We are going to have to go again.

Tomorrow I will finish the lawn and grandson and I will do some baking. Our daughter comes on Saturday and they both leave on Sunday.

The jacket will be finished tomorrow Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin My fingers will thank me lol. And I am very happy with it.

Good morning.

Blue sky and sunshine with a breeze. Should be a nice day.

Mica I think school swimming lessons virtually non existent. All my GC have had lessons outside school.

No plan for the day apart from laundry catch up and time outside.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-10-2024

morning ladies Smile What a stunning day we have today.

Thank you for your kind comments, he's chuffed and is wearing it today.

Mica, swimming lessons are pretty much up to parents these days. Not all schools can afford to have a swimming pool, sadly.

Snap, roma lol. Laundry catch up today for us as well. One load on the line and another in the machine with sheets waiting to be washed.

The Furry One had his check up with a new vet yesterday and did very well. The vet checked his teeth as part of the routine and said his teeth were better than many dogs half his age. All that tug of war we play with the tug rope is paying off. He got his clean bill of health and med script renewed Smile Not too shabby for a nearly 14 year old dog. Grandson proudly told another client at the vets that the vet was going to 'stick a thermometer up the Furry One's bum' before we went in. We tried not to laugh as he was so serious about it. And no, the vet didn't need to do that this time lol.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-10-2024

Morning everyone

Looks like its going to rain here shortly.

Oh the dragon is Wonderful Kiwimade.. Your grandies are lucky to have such a talented grandmother.

I started my washing last night lol.. Stripped both beds , will hang them shortly. Was Hoping to have the airer outside but that's not happening now.

The family are next door with the largest skip bin Ive ever seen. Hoping they might let me ad a couple of things. Ill pop over later and ask.

Started my Hedgehogs when I got home yesterday. Did half of the Black background.. Its beautiful . Really like this one. It will end up framed somehow for sure.

Showed my ladies the Poppies, they loved it.

David arrived with crab sticks, wontons and chips. Which is just as well cos their lunch was disgusting. They somehow ended up with the crumb from fish on the plate, no actual fish in it, then another proper piece on top. The food wastage in that place is disgusting. Three meals have been wasted this week. Steamed smelly fish on Monday, no other choice for the day. Meatloaf on Wednesday which gave several ladies the runs.. Oh and cat biscuits in the salad that went with the smelly steamed fish too.

The residents meeting is coming up. And we will be telling them if they dont do something about it we will go to the paper.

Right will get the next load of washing on.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-10-2024

Cat biscuits? Omg... Photo to the media of that one, it's just plain cruel.

And I love the dragon...

We had swimming lessons at primary, intermediate, and secondary, but it wasn't until my Dad came home with a sailboat that I bothered really trying to learn. I wasn't allowed to sail until he was happy I could swim, it was the best incentive he could come up with, I loved that little boat.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 12-10-2024

Beautiful KM, I love the colours.
Perhaps you could take a photo & have it framed, that way you'll always have a reminder of the work & the effort which went into it. Smile

Yep and we have photos. The Cook tried to keep them, but Annie kept them.  And we took photos of yesterdays crap too.

And a photo of Irene's call bell wound up nicely hanging on the wall. Her chair is the other side of the room. There are signs everywhere in her room for them to make sure she has it.. Thier excuse was cos we were coming in.. Dianne said and what if we were late?

We have decided to have a real fish and chip lunch, we will all chip in and have lunch for our lot.

Honestly if no families took food in, they would all starve.  But the Managers dont care, there are always people on the list waiting to get in.
