I'm beginning to wonder if the rain is actually coming. I've watered the garden pots and am now waiting for my sister-in-law to arrive. It's going to be a very slow walk around the garden center. This heart business is going to make me nuts. BUT on the plus side MrK is having to step up and do a bit more.

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 26-10-2024

Good afternoon.

Overcast and muggy ... looking at the rain radar we should get a dose of rain ... but you never know!

Out this morning for lawn fert that DH likes and discovered a new (to us) Cafe with good coffee. Called in to plant place as we went past for some petunias and Briscoes for pillows ... 60% off. Obviously a holiday weekend as the people numbers built up ... wouldn't want to be camping though!

Lol Lilith ... yes I think cats do have good (enough) brain cells that they know how to put to best use on their humans!

Enjoy the day.

Oh boy, just as well I had a lazy morning! Duvet inner inside duvet cover. I remember now why I gave those things up, lol. And now I need one of those skirt things to hide the wickedness underneath. Or get down there and rearrange it so antique suitcases show and plastic bins don't.

Then I did the windows on the deck side, inside and out and broke one of those hanging terrarium globes in the process so had to sweep and vacuum. Gave the deck a scrub with the leftover hot bubbly water.

Earned my coffee I think!

Oh, and instagram conversation with my daughter. They have found a house she is in love with, with acreage. A frame, trees, pasture, clean air, and room for an apartment for the inlaws. Her husband is not convinced, it is older than they are, and so needs a lot of his skills to update it. But what a place for the kids. And has a pool which they need in Perth. And old heat pump aircon, which will need updating if they are to survive their summers, specially with her MS. The beauty of Oz's property market though, their newish build in town will pay for the new country place, and the renovations, and leave them mortgage free.

No wonder our kids are loving that life over there.

Three hours...Im knackered lol.. but enjoyed every minute but that last 10 lol

Didn't have enough gelatine, so I made an executive decision to go up and buy the gelatine and peanuts, then let BJ's cook my tea tonight. I May splash out and have gurnard or snapper.

So Round two tomorrow.

Long time since I've stood so long, but the pain is worth it. I had 3 pounds of butter and probably wont have much left when finished.

Man I love my Cake Mixer.. best investment ever. And second best is the fan bake oven. Two trays at a time is wonderful.

Got a massive temu order done this morning. That took nigh on 2 hours. Another friend has sent me a link to be able to get even more discount. Which I've also decided I will keep for my Secretarial skills lol.

Still No rain here and not a breath of wind. Told its windy in New Plymouth and Tauranga.

Ohh and I used my cat cookie cutters, and made some cats and some stars in the shortbread for their grandies.

Kiwimade, my sister in law used to constantly complain about Cliffie being tired easily. I told her until she knew, she would never understand.. she does now.. Its a weird tired when your used to be able to do lots of things.. But just pace yourself and you will get through.

Oh tried to two piece outfit I got yesterday on and it fits Yay. Only a single xl lol. the arms on the other jacket are a bit too snug for now.. Need to get back on my weights to trim the arms down a little .

They're also adept at spotting a sucker when they see one.
And so, I have a cat.

Tipping down all day here - of course it is, I gave up waiting yesterday & watered the garden - & cold, down to 9. The minute I uncilip the second duvet inner it gets colder & when I put it back in come winter, we get a lovely burst of warmer weather... Rolleyes Big Grin

Yup, slow but getting there, just like that tortoise on my scooter dashboard lol. Not that he gets much use!

The rain has come, the beginning anyway. Cooler air, and drips all down my nice clean windows! But hey, my beautiful old fashioned pink rose is opening, as usual, my birthday rose will be fully out in time. And sitting just over that raving mad blue salvia which is a showstopper - I must remember to get a photo for you. One of the best plants in my collection that one...

Quilt and winter spread going through the laundry as I sit here. Thank heavens for technology. Imagine doing those with tubs and a copper, the way our mothers had to do. Small blessings...

It was my job to climb into the tub where the blanlets  were in water & soap powder (or it may have been sunlight soap lathered up) & tread up & down to help get them clean, & then again as they were rinsed. And then mum had to somehow gather them up from the tub & persuade them to go through the wringer, which must have been no easy job with heavy woollen blankets.

Im starting to believe that school lunches should also be provided to every MP, with precisely the same content, tested frequently to ensure the same content - & obligatory.

Our Headmistress tried that  made an appointment with the local MP to bring a van load of kids up for a presentation at his office for him and his staff  she took a sample of each days lunch for the week - the company delivered each weeks frozen on a Sunday - the kids took their half a wrap with shredded cabbage which had thawed .He was not amused - his kids went to a high decile school on the hill that were lucky to get KFC and subway while 70% of Napier schools got nothing - the media never mention that the scheme was supposed to include all schools by 2022 .Kids Can will do a great job feeding the preschoolers - can only be a win who cares about the politics of it

My grandkids that are over the ditch are the same Hunni - frightening the only ones still here are the three young ones and I know for sure that as soon as they finish Uni they will go - they all see their parents working hard and succeeding so hopefully some of them will come back - I guess that’s the price you pay for bringing your kids up to be independent - but the two oldest are like your daughter well settled

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 26-10-2024

Glad I watered the pots as no rain here Sad But I have a perfectly shaped magnolia to plant tomorrow. And a bonus is when it flowers next spring, it has a scent.

Son phoned from Perth in a flap about my new health issues. He was stunned lol as he has never in his life seen me unwell. Told him not to worry, my sister-in-law is a retired nurse and explained it all to him. The meds seem to be working as I managed to walk albeit slowly, around Wairere Garden Center. In saying that, we stopped so many times to smell and admire the roses lol. The wind was strong and blew lots of trees and standard roses over. Tomorrow I'll attempt to mow the lawn. MrK said he will empty the catcher. This may take a while to do but that's OK, there is no time limit. I need to keep moving but will listen to my body and stop when I need to.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 26-10-2024

Time for a hover mower methinks. I got one in the middle of the leg surgeries. Wish I still had it. It was fun...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-10-2024

morning ladies Smile It's lovely and calm outside so far, we had a good amount of rain overnight.

Add our son to the list of our kids in Aussie. He's loving Perth. Had a job and a flat within a week of moving there. And earning more $$$ so able to save for his house. Very sad though that our kids feel the need to move to get ahead.

Today we'll plant the magnolia. This should be a hoot, him with his back and me puffing away lol. Teamwork should win the day.

I've found a hardanger pattern I can convert into a long runner for the dressing table in one of the spare rooms. I've stitched it before many moons ago in navy blue (I had great eye sight then lol) but this time it will be a winter white fabric with variegated yellow and white threads. I need to buy the thread as I have very few variegated threads.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

The sun is out , no wind.

My three brothers all lived in Aussie.. All bar one of my nephew and nieces live there. Hadn't thought about that till now. Its always been "just next door" sort of thing.

Oh I enjoyed my dinner last night. I didnt feel hungry but I ate it all. A good reward after a busy day.

Second round of baking today. Then Ill go and deliver them and also hopefully catch a guy that does tyres and see what it will cost for two, my front ones wont pass a warrant next year.

I will be putting my feet up later tho. but Im pleased with what Ive done so far.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 27-10-2024

Even with the summer weight duvet and all the windows cracked open it was too warm in here last night. Time to swap the nighties out I think. And herself enjoyed squeezing out one of the windows into the rain, came back at 2am and didn't bother with squeezing back in the same way. Why bother when you can wake up the human with pathetic crying at the door?

We spoil these creatures...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-10-2024

We decided to mow the lawn. I mowed and MrK emptied the catcher. Took twice as long but it's done. And I feel surprisingly good. The berm can wait until tomorrow. These meds certainly make a difference.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 27-10-2024

Morning all
Heavy rain last night, overcast  this morning but not cold  expecting  more  rain this  afternoon.

Glad that you are pacing yourself KM

DD and DGD1 visited yesterday afternoon of course the little person wanted to go for a swim so we spent an hour at the pool and came back to ours for wine o'clock  and nibbles. DD hadn't organised dinner so we met SIL at local Aroy Thai to eat.  Pleasant time

We watched Hunted Uastralia that we have been recording  one of the few reality TV shows that I enjoy.

Got bit more sewn yesterday expecting to get collar on today

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 28-10-2024

morning ladies Smile It looks like it rained over night. It was certainly cooler.

Today I'll attempt to mow the berm with mrK's help. The magnolia wasn't planted, I ran out of puff. And the daisy we bought last week also still needs planting.

I've been teaching myself some new embroidery stitches as a way to fill in time for when I'm back at Spotlight. AND I have found a book that teaches Hardanger filler stitches from easy to extremely difficult with instructions for left handed people. I think I've found my Christmas pressie.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 28-10-2024

Good morning.

Sunny but we had a shower earlier.  Good for the scarlet petunias I placed in pots yesterday ... they're showing off their bright colour this morning  Smile

Lol KM, I like your thinking re the Christmas pressie. You will be looking forward to the magnolia's first flowering.

No plan today ... a big outside day yesterday in the garden and a beach walk ... lots sunbathing and swimming. Hard to believe there's been snow further south!

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-10-2024

Morning everyone

Only had one shower yesterday, about 4-30pm.

MrP's Niece rang in the morning and asked if I was home, I said yes, so they were coming up. I had time to make a marshmallow shortcake, but sadly had to pinch the last egg that I had for my coconut biscuits to bulk up the marshmallow lol, but got them made and sort of tidied up. not that Karen would care anyway.

They got lost and went to the old house, yet Karen had been here before lol. Even got a hug from her hubby which is extremely rare. Karens not usually a hugger either lol. But it was soo good to have a catch up. MrP was still at home when we saw her last. They live in Putaruru.

So I loaded a clothes basket and more and took that up to Gayle and David, and he came out with some flowers for me. Id barely been home and had a text from Gayle. Her July David ( Same as mine) had expected her to read his mind ( Also something mine did ) and it hit the fan. I said have your dinner, read a book then go to bed. Why do some men expect you to read their minds lol.

A Day off today.. The lawn awaits but its going to rain soon.

My deep fryer is dying a slow death so Im going to look online and see what the prices are like. So I may end up going to get one , or Ill order online.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-10-2024

Morning all
Rain yesterday started off sunny this morning but clouding over expecting heavy rain later this morning

The hardanger book sounds good KM

Nice to have visitors Popeye.

Finished my jacket  yesterday fit OK but too long need to shorten  not sure I like it so back to drawing board collar a bit bigger than I usually like so it might need some time in the naughty corner. Going  to Spotlight to get more fabric and try  slightly modified style.

Enjoy your day
