morning ladies Smile We have rain, thank goodness for that.

Good luck with getting on the list, popeye. As OHH says, it's a matter of waiting it out once you are on it.

Today the inside of the car is getting a good once over. There are spider webs and doggy nose prints on the windows lol. I have to go into town today so might use the car vacuum cleaner at the car wash instead of using ours. I also want to plant the plants; the ground will be lovely and soft with this rain so perfect timing.

The Fluffy One went home yesterday, she was very happy to see her mum. My sister is taking her to the vet, her back left leg looks sore, and she has been limping. We are hoping the vet will tell her it is time to do the deed as she doesn't want to make that decision. And the Furry One is happy to have his space back.

There was a bit more unpicking with the hardanger yesterday, but it was worth doing. I've done this pattern before and remember having the same issues way back then lol. If I don't fall asleep on the sofa, I'll do a bit more on it this afternoon. By mid to late afternoon, I have pretty much done my dash for the day.

happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Wet here. So I too will plant my Hydrangea when I get home later. Its recovered quite well.

Thankfully I am a very patient person. Well waiting for surgery or to recover can make me snappy lol. But Ill wait. and continue to bug them every so often.

Off to see my ladies today. I sooo hope the lunch situation is a lot better than last week.

Thats provided my head settles. Im a little spinny, hopefully breakfast will help that. I wont drive if Im still like this tho

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 11-11-2024

Good morning.

Overcast ... hopefully we'll get more rain as forecast.

Groceries to get soon and will get some other jobs done while out. Could be an inside day.  Good feeling to have the housework done which leaves replenishing the baking supply.

No school run this week ... the family are away doing one of the NZ great walks. I'll be needing a new handcraft project, 6 Xmas decorations finished. My denim jacket still awaits some embellishment ... it I could only decide what!

Better get a move on.

Enjoy the day all.

Start on a cuff Roma, that usually gets my mojo engaged. Just the mere act of threading the needle and starting a stitch... like magic.

We have a gentle soft rain, I can hear the plant kingdom slurping it up happily. I shall go out and check on my seedling collection soon, those heritage tomato seeds have sprouted, success beyond expectation. The hospice shop may benefit from their excessive willingness to strike! There is no way I can handle all these even with popping them in all through the community gardens (against all the rules, but...)

I am wondering if I should try striking the capsicum seeds from the half murdered ones in the fridge!

RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 11-11-2024

Just came back through the Esk Valley on my way home from dog sitting duties - these roses were buried under silt so deep the fencing had to be replaced - there were grapevines in the paddock - they didn’t survive but the roses did - couldn’t help smiling

morning ladies Smile The rain seems to be passing through.

That pic made me smile as well, Jan. I hope you don't mind if I share it in the NZ rose fb page. Roses are so tough; heaven knows why some treat them with kid gloves lol. Ours are doing so much better without the sprays and just a hard prune in July. In saying that, a lady in the FB rose group has had her roses stripped to the canes by the bronze beetle.

The climbing roses need tying back this morning, especially Gertrude Jeckyl. And I'll start digging the 'ditch' at the front of the garden to make it easier for the lawnmower guy to trim the edges. This will take a few mornings to do.

I worked a bit more on the hardanger yesterday afternoon and am very happy with it. There is something soothing about how it all comes together.

Out for morning tea  this morning we doing a reconasaince  to see if new to us cafe be OK for our next brunch meet up its our turn to choose  the cafe for December.

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 12-11-2024

Good morning.

Overcast but the sun is coming.

I always remember when learning about rose pruning being told you could run over them with a lawn mower and they'd bounce back.  Hardy for sure as shown in the lovely display Jan.

Good plan OHH, start small on that jacket and the rest will follow! For sure KM handwork is calming.

Appointment this morning and then the day is mine. Will get to the baking that I didn't yesterday.  I found some of my frozen blueberries at the bottom of the freezer which I will use in a new (untried) recipe  ..  blueberry blondies (and to use up the white chocolate drops I also have)!

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-11-2024

Morning everyone

Going to be another warm day today. Although its meant to rain later? yesterday we got 6 half drips lol

Feeling much better today.

Will phone about getting on the housing register today. And Ill repot the Hydrangea. Cant wait to have it out the ranch slider so I can see it everyday.

Love the photo Jan. MrP's Sisters father in law loved growing roses. He would also prune anyone's that needed it. Probably how he ended up with multiple plants. My fave has to be the most popular white one, and the name has just vanished from my head lol..

Decided to jar up all my left over diamonds last night. It took 6 hours... !!!! very seldom anyone askes for some. So Im making two large jars, they look cool with all the pretty colours

ICEBERG.. I knew it would come back lol.

Good news re the home yesterday. They have Added another table and they even had a table cloth. David sent a photo, but also rang on the speaker so everyone could speak. They were worried about me. Apparently Cams folks might be joining us on Cams birthday for our Christmas lunch so there will be 13. Needs a little more planning now lol.

Im not sure if my spinning and headache was eye strain, lack of caffeine, sinus related or low BP. So I treated it all lol

Have a fab day all

You are welcome to share the photo - the river is just over the back of the shed so the vineyard was badly hit - destroyed actually - they planted the roses years ago - I think there is some theory about roses and a disease that destroys vines

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-11-2024

Yes, that is why there is a tradition to plant a rose at each end of the row of vines...

I remember that from my Blenheim days, a lot of them do that there.

More than a theory. Roses are highly susceptible to diseases that affect grapevines so serve a 'canaries in the coalmine' purpose. https://www.winalist.com/blog/general/roses-in-vineyards-reason

I read a different reason for planting a rose at the end of a vine row - when horse drawn hoes were used to weed between rows, a rose stopped the horse from taking a mouthful of vine, as it turned at the end of a row.

I like that one too!

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 12-11-2024

Was planning to have an easy day once the dreaded shopping was done but then by after lunch I didn't feel too tired so thought I might as well do that wee bit of weeding around the beans & tomatoes.
Turned out to take quite a bit longer than I'd thought but still wasn't too tired so decided to make a couple of peach strudel thingys since I'd bought a tin of peaches. Made the first without a problem but alas when I came to make the second, discovered that I'd somehow taken two sheets of pastry out of the freezer & naturally the damn thing was defrosted.

Oh joy - no peaches left so had to scrabble through the top cupboard in a vain attempt to find another tin of peaches or anything which might do. Eventually right at the very back (naturally!) there was a small tin of stewed apples so hurriedly made that & slung it in the oven, muttering that it had better damn well cook quickly if it knew what was good for it.

So obviously now I'm knackered - & my favourite Sci Fi, Philip K Dick's Electric Dreams is on tonight.
At 11. Till midnight..staying awake might be interesting.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-11-2024

Interesting day, that ended with the police helicopter circling us for ages, then I heard a smashing crash in the back garden that I thought was an animal disagreement. In a way it was, one very expensive bike tossed over the fence into our feijoa hedge, tosser (nice pun there hunni) nowhere to be seen. So I filed a 105 report and rumour has it the dog unit will arrive whenever to see if they can follow the trail that might have something to do with a disturbed burglar - pun number two...

Bunnings this morning was more profitable but not nearly as exciting. Still, I have enough rainbow silverbeet seedlings from one punnet to fill multiple pots. Just as well I like the stuff! Cheap punnet too, under two dollars, a rare thing for seedling punnets these days. And I found solar lights that could be dismantled enough to fit in the black moorish lanterns that hang over my deck. I'm waiting for dark to see if they got enough of a charge to light up...

And a funny Trademe story, I bid on and won a big antique mirror from a local seller, paid for it and arranged to pick it up this morning. When we arrived the woman told us her daughter was cross she had sold it because she had wanted it... So I reneged on the deal to get Mum out of the shit, lol. We mothers of bossy pissed off daughters need to support each other - and she was a really nice woman, lol.

All 'n all a not so boring old lady day. You just never know what is in store when you get out of bed in the morning...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-11-2024

morning ladies Smile It's supposed to be overcast today but fine in Tauranga... we might just nip over the hill for a picnic lunch.

I love the theory about the horses and the roses, much nicer than the disease one lol.

Bunnings have some good prices and you can find all sorts of interesting stuff there if you have a good nosey around. And their loos are usually clean Tongue

We have three very persistent rabbits and they are becoming bolder each day. The Furry One chases them half heartedly now. He has always loved sitting on the steps, now ramp, in the early morning and evenings to watch them and make the occasional charge with a big grin on his face.

Happy crafting Smile
