RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-12-2024 Yes they are a pain all right. But all in the rear view mirror now! I had a burst of enthusiasm yesterday and undid the sleeping compost bin, and spread the gorgeous fluffy contents under the feijoa hedge. After watering it down I popped a couple of seedling pumpkins in as an experiment to see if they survive, nice long run for them to spread under the trees if they do well, so that will be fun to see. I noticed there are a couple of seeded tomato plants further deeper in there with young flowers showing so maybe they are worth trying. We shall see. After that I got the hose onto the lilies, all the summer plants are waking up, it is a lovely time of year. NZ Bulbs are tempting me with potted lilies at silly prices, I have indulged in the past and never been disappointed by what arrives, gorgeous colours, so maybe... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 03-12-2024 Hope you're on the mend Hunni, not fun. Good luck with the home Popeye, they sound difficult to deal with. I wonder if Age Concern might be able to advise you as to how best to deal with them making difficulties. Had another bash in the workroom yesterday & came across some old pastels done for the moon calender years ago, I'd forgotten them, & also some lino cuts for printing I'd forgotten. Now I'm wondering whether or not I have any printing ink anywhere - you would expect them to be with the lino cuts, but naturally that's far too sensible & they could be anywhere..oh joy. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-12-2024 morning ladies ![]() The plan for today is to finish the weeding before it becomes too hot to be outside. I only have half a garden to do. And the hose will need to go onto the garden again today, better remember to turn the pump on. MrK's all terrain walker arrives this afternoon, he can't wait. The one he has is lovely but not practical for him. And the car goes in for it's WoF, fingers crossed everything is ok. It should be but who knows. I had a phone call from our doctor's surgery, they have confirmation cardiac care has my referral. At long last lol. Time to get moving and make the most of a cool start to the day. happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 04-12-2024 Morning everyone Clear here this morning. Had a lovely day yesterday. Just working outside. But the best part was chopping the two privet bushes down. They weren't big but better nipped in the bud before they flower.. According to RH David I should paint the remaining stems, I said Nah Ill happily cut them off with long loppers. Cos they live amongst the Yuccas on one side and the prickly succulent type things on the other. As it was I came inside looking like an Indian woman with a spot of blood on my forehead lol. The Guava tree although small is Covered in blossoms. RH David also said that you need a male and female. Well Im guessing there is one around cos it had fruit not long ago. Off to the home this morning. A shortened painting session cos their favourite singer is coming in this afternoon. Things have been sorted re our lunch and Dianne and I will talk to Shivani this morning. So will be home earlier today, unless I stay for the music. My twin brother has a new Dr. and he is certainly keeping up to date on him. Bro mentioned I was diabetic but wasn't sure what type. So Ive updated him. The new Dr seems thorough which is good for my bro. Have a fab day everyone (04-12-2024, 05:48 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies Fingers crossed for the WOF Kiwimade. That is one of my biggest worries. I've nearly got enough to replace my front Tyres as I know they wont pass next time. The commented they were borderline last time, which was great for me, to have notice and time to save and get them sorted. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 04-12-2024 Good morning. Beautiful day already ... we're in for a hot one. I was very tempted by the NZ Bulbs sale as well! Would definitely buy through them again. That privet is horrible stuff Popeye. I've spied the odd one in gardens on walks ... I suspect the owners have no idea they are a noxious weed. Good to have your foot a bit further through the door KM. Groceries, library and hairdresser today. A bit more tidying up in the vege area later. The herbs cut back needs to continue on a few more ... they love this time of year for spreading where they are not wanted! Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-12-2024 There is privet everywhere here along with honeysuckle. Every hedge seems to have it and it's flowering like crazy. I haven't had hayfever like this for years. Another one here who is tempted to buy from NZ Bulbs. I found a begonia growing in the garden the other day, one of the free council begonias I scored last season. It was hidden under a massive pansy ![]() ![]() The weeding is almost done, only a quarter of the fenceline to do and there aren't that many weeds to pull. I've been cleaning up under the roses as I go as all this humidity has black spot going nuts. I don't spray but do clean up all the fallen leaves and try to pick off any that are about to fall. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-12-2024 While doing a rough weeding, I uncovered a little calla lily I had forgotten about from a previous impulse purchase from NZBulbs, a hot pink one in full bloom, what a treasure. Funny the way finding something like that can bring a smile to an otherwise ordinary moment. I am pleased though to have dropped off two cartons of tomato seedlings to the community garden for their fund raising stall. Only half a dozen punnets left, and I think I have homes for each of those now. I just need more seaweed liquid for the summer and maybe another pot of mix and that should be it for the vegies, other than renewing the lettuces as they go to seed. Now I can indulge in pretties for the deck! And get back to other handwork things... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-12-2024 it's like a treasure hunt sometimes, love it when forgotten plants are found. Or something self seeds and just appears in another part of the garden. The poppies all self seeded on the opposite side from where I planted them. Gotta love that prevailing westerly. Car passed its WoF, it only needed new wiper blades, headlights adjusted and the left water squirter unblocked. Only been asking MrK to do that for a while! So, nothing major and we are good to go. RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 04-12-2024 Help advice needed please - embroiled in a neighbourhood dispute A lovely old bloke does my garden and lawns - has looked after the place for 35 years so kept him on - he treats it like he owns it and I am very happy with him - he is like a tonic .Anyway the two trees in the photo are now gone - the a/hole next door poisoned them - I know they are too close to the fence but have been there longer than he has - my gardener noticed one side was looking not well - he told me what he was doing to remedy it - went in one ear and out the other - but it got worse and was obviously terminal - my gardener went next door after an expert advised they had been poisoned - one day he was spraying when it was really windy and killed all my herbs - she apologised said he didn’t realise the spray was drifting - I am rambling - neighbour called the police on my gardener wants him charged with threatening behaviour - my question is should I just let it go - my kids say karma will get him https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2171876038.jpg RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-12-2024 I think leave it to the police. They can usually sort out irate neighbours with inflated ideas of their own importance. If your gardener needs a character reference from you he will ask for it, or you can tell him you are happy to speak up for him, and explain the background to the police, if they need it. I'm betting they won't. You certainly need to avoid the neighbours beyond acknowledging them if you have to, sounds like they are the types to look for trouble when after all they are the initiators. Sad situation, but part of life these days... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 04-12-2024 Your neighbours sound just delightful...or something. I think Hunni's right & a character reference from you will help, plus avoiding what seem to be troublesome people. You have to wonder how well their previous neighbours got on with them - or not,of course. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 04-12-2024 Afternoon all Funny weather Jan your neighbours don't sound very nice. Like others here support your gardener. Been over to Wairarapa this morning, crazy weather left home low misty clouds hanging around the valley hills, get to top Nauranga beautiful day, balmy 28 degrees in Greytown, return to 20 degrees misty hills with moisture in air Bought couple new bras while over the hill nice lunch nice day out. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-12-2024 omg some people! Support your gardener, roma. Good gardeners are like gold dust and we need them. I agree about offering a reference. But suspect, like OHH, it won't be needed. The police will probably end up saying it's a civil matter and won't get involved. The tree stumps are dust! They have made the most awesome mulch and tomorrow I will be happily spreading it around. And now I have two big spaces to fill. One will have giant hostas and the like and the other will have to wait until the fence has been repaired and strengthened. And I'll try again to have a water feature lol. Only two years of waiting. Mind you, it doesn't help that the $$$ saved for it was used to pay for other repairs/replacements. RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 04-12-2024 I went off to work and left them to it - just heard from my gardener the neighbour has trespassed him so he is having the last laugh - we have a hedge dividing us down the front which is actually well and truly on their side of the boundary but my old guy has always kept both sides beautifully clipped - no more - he will find it hard not to do it as he is very proud of his work Off out on the town it’s 20 years today Robie first opened his PaknSave RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 04-12-2024 Glad its sorted Jan... Totally agree with everything said. The last bit reminding me of Mr. P's ex girlfriend when I moved in with him. She would phone, drive past etc just trying to be annoying. Then after a couple of weeks the Police Turned up at the door. Mr. wasn't home. I Thought Oh chit what have I walked into lol. She put a non molestation on him. I looked at the cop and said she's the one that has been phone and driving past here. he said we she saved you having to pay for it lol... never saw her after that lol Painting was brief today cos the powers that be decided the music was to be in the dining room where the painting is held. We were planning on keeping it short anyway. but We didn't make mum rush to eat her lunch while they kept moving the tables and chairs in and around. Apparently the manager had a go at Annie for Not telling them about the abuse over our Lorne. I said to Annie, your not her spy. Left alone the family would never have found out. The right thing happened. Annie has been in the bosses good books for years, but on this one even she was shocked and disgusted. I had Missy time this afternoon. She hasn't touched the Christmas tree, really proud of her. Tomorrow is shopping , then decorating the bowls cos we opted to paint today and then afternoon tea at 2pm. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-12-2024 David Farrier has a tee shirt in his merchanise for when he shows his strange docos. One of them I love, and it fits here. It says 'filthy hobbitses'. Iconic, lol... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-12-2024 I meant Jan, not roma... must be going nuts lol. Too funny, they will have to pay a fortune to have that hedge trimmed. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 05-12-2024 morning ladies ![]() Today the plan is to post son's Christmas present. His favourite Whitakers chokkie, a book and a puzzle. He's hard to buy for and more so now it has to be posted. Might as well take the recycling in while I'm going to town and put some petrol in the car. I want to finish weeding and spray the mint I've cut back. We have plenty in a pot and MrK wants the spot for his bonsai. He plans to build a display table for them and put it where the mint is growing in the wild. My 'job' is to kill the mint lol. I've cut it back (it was up to my thigh) and today will give it a trim with the hedgecutter before spraying. The lawn people come today. I will admit to really liking having the lawn mowed. Firstly, because they do such a great job and secondly it frees up space in the wheelie bin for garden waste. I don't have to leave piles of weeds for a week while I wait for the bin to be emptied. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 05-12-2024 Morning everyone Very still here too. Not a warm morning either. It is nice having the lawns done for you. But I suspect me telling our previous mowers that I used to do them myself meant they made expert jobs of it lol. My edges need spraying at some stage. It certainly makes the job easier especially with 3 of the 4 boundaries are wooden fences. well they all are but one I only mow a fraction of it. Found out that my sisters Eldest boy is Cheffing at a mine in WA near Broome. I love that his job takes him to weird and wonderful places. Big difference from cooking at posh hotels to a mine I should imagine lol. Better check FB then go and do the shopping. Then I can get messy with glittery sparkles, once Ive put a drop cloth down lol. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 05-12-2024 Morning all Overcast again expecting some wind later Last day at warehouse for the year for me cznt go next week as I have a meeting g to attend My frankenpattern jacket is finished its a bit big but I will get buttons and wear it until I make something better.
