RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 05-12-2024 Oh dear what a shame about their side of the hedge...that'll come back to pith them orff. With any sort of luck... Really hot here already so Madame Le Dog & I went for an early walk. Decided to wrap some of the xmas gifts which will need posting & it took ages. Not sure why but wrapping up lots (or even a few) of presents always makes me tired & the heat doesn't help. But its a bit done & might even do a few more later, far too hot to do anything outside. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 05-12-2024 Oh I dunno about that. It has taken me three days to move the heavy wooden park bench from the courtyard - where anyone foolish enough to sit on it bakes in the unshielded summer sun - to the shade of the feijoa hedge on the grass some sixty downhill feet away. Corporate landlords gave permission to move it but declined to provide muscle or ask any gardening contractors to assist. Health and safety. Bullshit. So I have walked it, one end at a time over the three days to where we wanted it. And now, because my blood sweat and tears went into this little exercise, I am going to paint it. Screaming orange. That'll learn 'em. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 05-12-2024 (05-12-2024, 01:28 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Oh I dunno about that. Bullshit.Perfect Colour... but Im tempted to say add blue. lol.. Shopping done, Glittered the bowls.. Out to afternoon tea we even got a personalised thankyou and a Smile from the Manager Shock Horror lol.. And a box of choccies. Home and gave the bowls a bit more glitter. Then put little decorations around the top. I managed to do 2 the same which is dumb, but Ill have the extra double up and they wont know. Everything ready tpo get up and put the pudding on. Ill get up about 5am. Not sure if any of you have tried Hellers Ol' smokey bacon, but I can highly recommend it. they have the strips and normal. I thought I did well on Black Friday getting 800 grams for $14-50, normally about $19.. But its only $11-50 at New world, on their 3 day sale so Ill be going there in the morning. Ill take a frozen ice pack to keep it cool. Day 5 and madam still hasnt touched the tree etc. Yay.. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 05-12-2024 My first thought was blue, I have a rather nice one in the cupboard, but then I decided Outrageous was such a nice name... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-12-2024 Morning everyone Yep the Pudding is on lol.. So I have a few hours to kill before I head up to the home. I Think Orange is a good choice Hunni. Outrageous Orange. Im really looking forward to today. We are such a good group and work well together. Randomly us as carers / visitors there are 2 Taurean's, One Gemini only by one day and a Scorpion but we work so well together making sure our people are happy. David spoke on behalf of us all yesterday which was nice. He hadnt mentioned he would so Im pleased he did. Hopefully it will help the thaw, but I wont hold my breath lol. Liking the bowls, but I ended up doing two tops the same, which messes with my head. I tried to make them all different. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-12-2024 morning ladies, Another calm start to the day, it's going to be hot and windy again. I love love love orange. The cape cod chairs we have are going to be painted pumpkin orange along with the hanging shelf MrK made for the gate. That's going to be my January project. It was either orange or a stunning bright fluro green I saw. MrK cringed at both choices lol. Today I need to tie Blackberry Nip to the concrete reinforcing wire nailed to the fence. It has three lovely new canes growing. Yesterday I received written confirmation I am on the waiting list for cardiac care. At least this time I'm on the right list lol. It's going to take a while but it's a start. The weight gains seem to have stopped thank goodness. Well, that's weird, my post posted itself with stuff in it I never wrote. Gremlins! Time to get cracking before the day becomes too hot. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 06-12-2024 Morning all Sunny no wind A bright paint job sounds just the thing OHH. Popeye I do my steamed puddings in the slow cooker, water in cooker pudding covered in a bowl sits with water just like doing it in a pot, it cooks overnight Got idea from Alison Nd Simon Holst slow cooker recipe book can look up times if you want to try. Having friends around for dinner tonight BBQ leg of lamb, salads and pannacotta with berries for desert So will bespending time prepping Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 06-12-2024 Good morning. Sunny and windy ... not the best for the garden especially as it's going to be hot again. Busy yesterday plus a school day with the GC. It sure was hot walking home in 27 degrees! Popeye, how good it must be for the residents to have you and the gang to brighten up the days. I don't think I'd be brave enough to paint my wooden outdoor furniture in bright colours but deep down, I think I'm envious! Lucky the hibiscus provides plenty of vivid colour here. Good to have the cardiac care visit getting closer KM. An appointment later. Will try and get to wrapping gifts and maybe re-assemble a small driftwood tree that we made while between homes for a few years. Had better get moving before the heat strikes. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-12-2024 It was a steel grey, which was depressing. Then recently a photo appeared on my farcebook page of a misty country garden, winter bare branched trees with this simple brilliant orange garden bench sitting beneath them on the grass, and it was just so beautiful... And I too love orange. I painted the ceiling shades bright orange and have two orange cushions on my bed, amazing how just those touches liven up the tiny space. The rest is all creams and teals and blues. And the black chairs, which for some reason work. Might be all the plants lol... Anyway, the first coat went on the seat last night and I am happy with it, as are my two neighbours. Also last night another great hairy weta arrived on my wall, and jumped on me when I sought to encourage it to floor level for a ride in a jam jar to the nearest open window. Two in one week after years of absence? I am beginning to thing a Certain Someone is bringing them in to play with... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 06-12-2024 (05-12-2024, 06:55 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: My first thought was blue, I have a rather nice one in the cupboard, but then I decided Outrageous was such a nice name... Oh yes, it is, isn't it... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Had to go round to dreaded mall; somehow I'd managed to run out of Xmas wrapping paper (probably it was because of those very large soft toys I managed to get when they went well down in price just after last xmas) & the mall is definitely a madhouse already, so even more reason than usual to go as early as possible when there are fewer people. So pleased I've done virtually all the gift shopping as & when thoughout the year. Madame de La Cat is apparently tormenting that poor sentry bird again & i had to bring her in again earlier. She's turning into a bit of a tyrant, & Madame de La Dog wouldn't go outside yesterday because Madame de La Cat was sitting on the back porch & it would mean walking past her. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-12-2024 Well we had a ball. And considering there were 5 extras who brought not a dammed thing, we coped well. We still had plenty to eat, drink and have fun. Dianne and Mum got me the best present ever. Its a dusky pink T shirt. And she put an iron on transfer on it. In Red there's a Bloody hand print and it says.. "Don't Worry its Not my Blood." I Love it. And wooden spoon that says. "Im about to Stir some Shit" lol.. Im considering wearing the shirt to see the cardiologist on Tuesday lol.. with the Warfarin Connection lol David wasn't happy when I text him to tell him Cams family had arrived. They hadn't let him know they were coming. And four of them arrived without bringing a thing. It annoyed David. No Wonder they can afford a Jaguar and the gas. And there are 5 cases of Covid in there again. None of ours, one lady I knew her brother. And she's a frail tiny wee woman. I hope she makes it through. The staff left us alone, apart from doing the toilet run for Mum. I knew the Manager wouldn't come down. David Invited her tho. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-12-2024 morning ladies ![]() Your seat sounds much better, OHH ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm glad you all had a great time, popeye. Five turning up without anything is pretty rude. We would never think to do that and always take a plate/s. We have a family member who brings a loaf of bread and when asked to bring something in particular, 'forgets'. Last Christmas all she had to bring was cream for the pav... Our son phoned yesterday, was lovely to catch up with him. He will be spending Christmas with a kiwi mate and his French wife and her brother. Nice to know he won't be on his own this Christmas. We also caught up with our daughter so a family day yesterday. Recyling needs doing today, I didn't have the oomph to do it the other day. And I might do some ironing... *gasp* I know, shocking lol. Now that the garden is under control, I can do the windows and all those jobs that have been put off. Easy enough to do with the karcher window vac. And if I start early, it's nice and cool. And the oven needs a clean before Christmas, it's a tad embarrassing at the moment. The two worst jobs to do lol. Better get moving and make the most of this energy. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-12-2024 Morning everyone Very still here. Yeah Kiwimade, I have never turned up anywhere empty handed. Thats just not what you do. David was annoyed cos they had been out over last weekend and never said that they were coming which we could have catered for. Well I took plenty, but the Lamb could only go so far and David would have done more veges. The Other rude part was the Manager. We offered the olive branch for her to come and say hello, and we simply didn't see her at all. She obviously isn't ever going to try and be friendly. She was talking to Dianne's older sister afterwards tho. Shes just plain rude, and then she wonders why we get annoyed. And we left the place as we found it. Putting everything back as it was. so She cant complain about that. I suspect there were many having Nana Naps yesterday lol... I nodded off while watching tv last night , after 9pmish. Today Im going to start taking stuff down to the garage for the garage sale. Better to do it gradually. As I have 3 busy days next week as well. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 07-12-2024 Good morning. Sunny with some breeze. SO hot yesterday ... a fan on overnight helped a lot with sleeping! What was I thinking accepting an appointment in the city, on a Friday early afternoon, in December! Luckily only 4 minutes late and not longer. There's nothing worse than sitting in slow and busy traffic knowing you have a time constraint. Silly season for sure. That's what I should do with some of the old ceramic and terracotta pots I have KM ![]() A good day for you Popeye ... yep there's always the 'spongers' in life ... it's hard to understand their thinking, or at least how they don't have any conscience. Will have a potter about day inside and out as the heat dictates Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 07-12-2024 Morning all Another sunny day Sounds like you had good time, Popeye can't understand how sponges think it is ok to come empty handed they probably be the first to whinge it if the positions were reversed Nice to hear from your son KM We had lovely time with our friends that came to dinner last night I am a bit tired this morning not used to the wine and late nighf ![]() Son popping in this morning to collect the cat food that I bought for them DH out with k9 while I zoomed around vacuuming washing floors my normal Saturday routine, need to clean all the filters etc since it is the first weekend of the month. I have to set myself times otherwise they don't get done as regularly as they should Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-12-2024 I'm so glad I ducked into town early. As I was leaving it was starting to become busy. Had to buy a new Christmas tree as we threw the old tatty 40 year old tree out last year. Boy, has it been hard to find a tree that suits lol. Should have started looking earlier. Roses have been dead-headed - one Lemon & Lime had a full bucket of finished roses. While waiting for Mitre10 to open, I was talking to an elderly lady, and she was saying she has recently moved. They accidently left all of the Christmas decorations and tree in the attic. They asked the new owner if they could please have them back and the answer was no. She's devastated as some of the decorations are quite old and cherished. How can some people be like that, it beggars belief. Her son is now trying to sort it out. But I suspect he won't have much luck. Time for a cuppa before I take the recycling in, the transfer station opens at 10.00am. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-12-2024 I dont know if these people always do what they did yesterday. But I cant help suspect that they do. They are Loaded. They have to pay for Cams care cos he's only 62 as of yesterday. So he wouldn't get the Govt subsidy for home care. And they drive a whacking great Jaguar. They live on the North Shore, so the gas out would be more than my groceries a week I would guess. Eileen the lady with covid comes from a large family of Unmarried siblings. We knew her brother well. He had a large timber business here but he sponsored so many things in town. Their family home was one of the first in Waiuku. And their mother had the first electric oven in town. I asked her Brother Terry one day if they had a coal range and he said His mother wouldn't have one. Had to have the first electric oven.. I'd have loved to have gone through the house. He spent a lot of money doing Christmas lights for the town to see. His staff at the timber company taking like a relay for a week of working at the business and Putting the lights up at their house. Right Ive done my mental stimulation for the day.. Off to sort stuff out. Im feeling in a very ruthless mood. So it should be a good garage sale. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 07-12-2024 I've no idea why, Popeye, but some people are just like that; we've probably all come across such people...& tend to avoid them ever after. Went out after breakfast & tackled the front lawn, (very glad I got it done as its going to be hot yet again) then off to library & only got three books...I didn't mean to get any at all this time but they will keep jumping off the shelves. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-12-2024 I've had a good few hours in both spare rooms. And have been ruthless.. I like it when Im in this sort of mood. Found more of my Christmas Linen. Some wine glasses. And some photos yay. Have some stuff in the garage for the garage sale next weekend Yay. More to do tho. And finally found one photo Ive been looking for of my school teacher that visits the home and now my ladies can see what I mean about him being Prim and Proper as a teacher and is now a messy slob in comparison. And I got paid for the work lol. Found $3-00 in a bag. So that will pay for my lunch on Monday lol. I can usually get a bread roll, ham and a banana for $2-50ish.. I bring a slice of cheese from home.. Yep Im a cheap feed lol. Its quite grey out now. Not hot. Mind you Im not feeling the heat so much this year.. another bonus lol |
