No wonder the kids got excited. Bet she doesn't do that again, silly woman. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-12-2024 I recently had a visit from a Mercury sales agent, door knocking. I am not a fan of Mercury, because of a very poor bit of customer service I got from them years ago, so when they took over Trustpower I changed providers to avoid them. But I am not particularly happy with the current lot so I listened to her sales spiel and heard the promise of a $57 per month saving on the current provider plan, and their understanding that if I gave 30 days notice my current lot wouldn't charge a cancellation fee - but if they did, Mercury would cover it with a $150 credit. So I gave 30 days notice and bingo, cancellation fee $170, plus repay sign up credit of another $71... So there goes that idea, lol. But the thing that gets up my nose is the way these companies sales agents tell fibs. My current lot promised my broadband plan was unlimited, back when I signed up, but it isn't, and changing to unlimited would cost me. I didn't find out I had been sold a pup till months in hence my willingness to change when the opportunity came up. So to find that one is as bad as the other is disappointing. Probably better the devil I know than getting a new one. No wonder we consumers increasingly distrust corporates. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 10-12-2024 OHH those cold call energy Co reps are sneaky my response was always leave me some written information and I will consider it (not). Funny thing they never could do that I had to do it on the spot with them. At our old house the presence of k9s often deterred those reps we would see them come down our drive see the k9s and scuttle back up. If only they knew they would have been love bombed ![]() Had a pleasant day out and about. Picked up rates rebate certificate nice surprise that we can still claim while living in a retirement village Last knit night tonight need to sort out a plate to take for shared supper. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-12-2024 morning ladies ![]() I didn't think cold calls from power/teleco companies were allowed anymore. We still have the Mormons visit occasionally but not sales people. MrK calls them 'Holy Rollers'. The windows are calling me... clean me... clean me... lol. It's been a while since they have been done and the cobwebs on the outside are growing. The Furry Fiends are back much to the Furry One's delight. The bottom of the lemon tree has been neatly trimmed to bunny height and we have spotted them eating the lemon's skins. It's the first time we have seen them do that. The rain we had the other day was welcomed in the garden especially by the two surviving sunflowers. The flowers are forming and the plants are growing like mad. The leaves are huge! I love how they turn during the day to follow the sun. We've finally put the Christmas tree up. It was a mission to find one as last Christmas I threw the old tatty one out. I ordered one from the Wharehouse only for them to return my $$$ as they had run out of the one ordered. But they did give me free delivery on my next order and a $20 voucher as way of apology. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-12-2024 Morning everyone Chilly this morning. A nice relief Cardiologist was wrapped yesterday. Shocked when I told him about the weight loss and no insulin. Don't have to go back for 2 years Yay. He has a yummy Strong Scottish accent. dont know how it came up but we ended up talking about rest homes. He worked for a few years in one. And said it started to get to him. The way they were treated, and how its a never ending cycle of new faces and losing old faces. My Knee is niggly from the driving. And I had cramp in the top of the ankle. But otherwise Im pleased with it. Did my shopping early on the way home. So I dont have to go out tomorrow. The Christmas dinner is back on at the Home.. At Your own risk.. Yeah that shocks me.. I guess you have to decide if you want to be with your family, over the chance you may end up with what can be a fatal illness. Im going up today, but likely it will just be to Irenes room, unless they are allowing them to go to their normal dining rooms. But no painting. Finished the biggest piece of my 5 piece painting last night. Now I have to undo the messed up one and redo that. It will be a mission. but Im a methodical persistent person so Ill get it done. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 11-12-2024 Good morning. Much cooler this morning but the day will heat up. Good news Popeye ... got to love the Scottish (and Irish) accents ![]() We get a few cold callers here in town. Like you Mica, when I ask for pamphlets or info on paper the conversation peters out, lol. I can't remember the last time a JW visited with their little booklet. Groceries this morning and need to go to the bank later ... a rare event these days. I hope the visit will be better than trying to deal with (and understand any instructions) over the phone! Street parties can be fun but I hope the message that children should be included will get through for next time Jan. Here comes the sun, better get moving. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 11-12-2024 Morning all Fine with breeze Good news on cardiac front Popeye well done. Our grass is growing fast it only gets mowed every other week fine over winter and probably summer but at moment lots of growth they also have automatic watering at nights couple time week keeps the gardens looking nice. Been to gym, have appointments this morning and meeting prep later got to do that before I let my self get into my sewing space. Nice night at knitting last night our last get together until. February next year Got to get vacuuming done the have my shower and face the day Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 11-12-2024 If my mother was around she would be washing my mouth out with soap - I have done row 87 THREE times - 260 stitches umpteen colour changes and 1 stitch short - checked the pattern it adds up - so it’s been chucked in the corner - must be getting past it - last one for sure Absolute beautiful apricots available I thought they may have been dry as we have had no rain - cherries are the same .We had brief rain on Wednesday so hard some shops were flooded then straight back to hot and windy .My son breeds those sheep you don’t shear - his lambs are all going to their new homes today three weeks early but he is fast running out of grass - thank goodness they don’t go to the meatworks - one special one my foster grandson has taken a shine to is allowed to stay - she follows him around like a dog even sits on a chair in the tack room - plays tug of war with his lab - she thinks she is a dog - Coffee machine is calling RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-12-2024 arrggg Jan, I feel your pain lol. Pretty sure I would be throwing it into the naughty corner as well. It could be the pattern, and not you though. I'm trying to think of alternatives to the traditional Christmas fruit mince pie as not everyone in our family likes them. I was thinking maybe of making a few with apricots, peaches and ginger and a few more with cherries and cranberries and a pinch of something, not sure what. Will mull it over and come up with something. MrK is having a nap, the pain meds he's on knocks him out. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 11-12-2024 My grumpy is magnifying. Went to see my lovely GP today, and spotted a familiar form scuttling past me as I sat waiting... I left the previous small and excellent practice because I had a really unpleasant encounter with a manipulative practice nurse who I am sure has a screw loose, she gaslit me something rotten after my hip replacement, so soon as I could I registered elsewhere. And yup, she's moved and is now at my current docs. Buggeration. Next appointment I may have a quiet word with the doc to make sure we never cross paths if it can be helped. Funny thing though, she has now worked for every practice in the area, and I am not the only one with stories to tell. ARGHHHHH! And yup, she's moved and is now at my current docs. Buggeration. Oh dear - she sounds just delightful. ![]() Hot as again here, Madama de La Dog & I went for an earlier than usual walk, struck up a short conversation from a chap from Bluff who was very surprised at how hot it is, told him that it isn't usually this hot until later in summer. Not looking forward to it either. Too hot for anything in the garden so decided to get a couple of Xmas parcels ready for posting; so naturally I discovered I'm out of brown wrapping paper. Of course I bleeding well am! ![]() Never mind I thought, I can encase them in cardboard & then slide them into a large-ish paper bag, turned inside out to hide whatever the hell it had on the outside. Ah yes.... it sounds rather easier than it is in practice but eventually I managed to get one all done & addressed. And it was at that point I realised that I couldn't remember the address for the second one - but not to worry, I have an address book in which it is sure to be. ![]() Address books are really handy things, really very useful, things of wonder & quite possibly one of the best ever human inventions. Until you can't actually find the damned things.. ![]() Eventually, I had to go on FB & ask a grandkid! And naturally I have now found the sodding address book...might need a cuppa. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-12-2024 Oh Hunni she sounds like some previous "bulldogs" I have known in other practices. The fact she has been around is probably a good show of her manners or lack of them . It hasn't been too hot today. It was quite cool this morning. We had painting.. They are pretty much testing everyone and letting them do what they want. Mum had her new Glasses ohh she looks like an Old School Marm.. but she can see again and the difference in her painting is immediate. I Have two of those Blardy address books Lilith. Annoying dam things they are. Home and I've vacuumed so I only have to wash my kitchen floor, after I've cooked tea. And Ill run the cloth over the windowsills I can reach and that's the Inspection sorted. I have decided to leave the 5th part of the picture... if I'm honest I dont really like any of it. But I will mount it later, next year maybe. I got the white paint out and have painted a first coat on a used canvas so I can mount Annies picture on there. It will need a couple of coats. And thankfully I put my markers on the sides so I can re figure where to put the picture. I have 12 days so it will be fine. And on the Good news front. I got a bill from Medic Alert last week. I messaged them and told them that MrP had died and I cannot afford it this year.. They have given me a years grace. Which is wonderful.. Not something I was too worried about cos my necklace say's Im on warfarin so it doesn't need to be checked any further. Although I probably should let them know Im not on insulin etc now.. Missy still hasn't touched the Christmas tree. I guess I know now, warning her that I will laugh is the way to go lol. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-12-2024 One of the several benefits of having a St Johns medical alarm is the rapid access to medical records. Plus the cost is added to my disability allowance so it isn't yet another load on the budget. I haven't had to use the button, but boy it brings a level of confidence about living alone if one of those one day what if when happens along. I am enjoying our 'new' seating area out by the feijoa hedge. Just being able to sit there quietly for half an hour or so and watch our glorious trees move, with their populations of feathered people is such a lovely thing to do. Somewhere I read that being near trees is calming and it certainly makes that second cup of tea worth the little walk down the stairs and across the grass. The Tatty cat is enjoying it too I think, she especially likes perching on the black brolly stand, I think it retains heat in all that water inside. A warm bum is obviously one of those cat privileges we human beings are not quite as familiar with as the furry ones. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-12-2024 morning ladies ![]() We have also come across people like that, OHH and try to avoid them. They seem to go through jobs like water as they are found out. Heaven knows why some have to be so nasty. Your seat sounds lovely. We take our cuppa outside and sit in the garden every fine day. There is something soothing about it. Only trouble is lol, I'll start working in the garden before taking the cups inside and we build up a wee collection of them on the outside table. oooppps! Our address book is looking very sad but does the trick. MrK is the one who uses it the most. Dad had a Bupa alarm, and it was great. They were very quick at phoning when the alarm went off. I wanted him to have the St Johns one, but he wanted Bupa. It gave us all peace of mind and him confidence to get out and about. MrK has a tummy bug. Hopefully today he will start feeling better and he hasn't passed it to me. The oven is being cleaned today. I have to say it affirmatively so it will be done. Otherwise, I will procrastinate. We figured out how the Furry One caught his little buddy. He's been sitting by the wheelie bins waiting for them to pop out from under the garden shed. They don't see him there, but he has a good view of where they are. Clever boy! I might work on the hardanger piece sometime today if it is raining. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 12-12-2024 Morning all Fine day Early start for me meeting over near airport so a drive across town in commuter traffic Got sleeves in jacket band next probably do that tomorrow. Furry one is clever I miss my chosen terriers our current k9 we rehomed when he had an in discretion he is a funny lad I think he would be good with rabbits he has a high preditor drive not to mention resource protector that's why he is with us sort of k9 reform school Got to move Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-12-2024 Morning everyone Wet and warm here. I have the St Johns alarm. Its instant security. I have used it several times for me and previously MrP. My medic alert is for the warfarin. Especially handy as when Im out ,my alarm wont work. And I dont have room to get the cost of the mobile St Johns alarm paid for. So Covered twice but in all situations. The peace of Mind is Amazing. Ill do another coat on the canvas this morning. Then will start my next diamond painting. A Vase of various colour Hydrangeas. I kitted up last night. Decided I have all day to set up tomorrow . so today can be a rest day of painting. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-12-2024 The oven has been cleaned but I can't get the damed racks back in. The next oven we buy, I am checking how the racks go in and out. MrK has the knack for it, so I'll ask him to show me how it's done. I'm surprised none of you heard the swearing. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-12-2024 I am swearing too, but not at oven racks. At the unbelievable actions of Israel in bombing Syria, as a 'defensive act' mere days after the Syrians finally managed to oust their own despotic tyrant. I just do not understand human beings some days, despite being one. All these bomb happy people around. Never happy if someone looks like things are improving they bomb it to stay in the news. or that's what it feels like some days. Im sure one of them just wants a full world War 3 just to prove they can do it. But if they are bombed in return they Spit the dummy and have a hissy cos someone has the cheek to bomb them back. |
