There was nearly a dead cat here this morning; that fiend from hell disguised as Madame Le Cat didn't come in this morning when I headed out to do dreaded groceries & still no sign of her when I came back. Called & called the little sod but nothing, not a sign of her all morning.

Eventually she came strolling nonchantly in, with a brief glance in my direction before taking up a post next to her saucer & looking meaningfully at the fridge.
I did not kill her on the spot, instead I picked her up & explained how worried I & Madame Le Dog had been (I had no idea dogs could laugh!  Rolleyes Big Grin ) & told her never to do it again & she did a bit of perfunctory purring, which I hope means she'll never do it again...don't think I'd better hold my breath though.

Tell Sad Madam that next time she messes you about than saunters in like nothing is wrong, that when she looks at her dosh and the Fridge, you will Consider feeding her after you Laugh at her..

It worked for me when I told my madam not to touch the Christmas tree.

That's got to be worth a try if she does it again, cheers Popeye. Big Grin

You mean - STARVE HER??

Oh how cruel. I had no idea you ladies had such a dark side.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-01-2025

morning ladies Smile We may have rain today.

lol OHH, they are real meanies Tongue

Today is going to be a quieter day, the zinnias still need planting, and I'll do that shortly but other than that, I'll potter about. I need to find some heavier fabric, preferably a linen mix and will go through my small stash to see what is there. And I'm still tacking the embroidery design. Can't wait to have that all done.

MrK has dug our spuds up and ommggg they are so good. We have shared some with the neighbours as there are plenty. The horse poo has certainly done the trick. He's going to plant more and hopefully can get them grown before winter.

The Furry Feinds have disappeared, we have only seen one over the last few days. We have both found bits of Furry Feind fluff on the lawn and vegie garden so the Furry One has either caught and eaten another one (highly doubtful as he still demands his dinner) or has had gotten very close. There is one Furry Feind with floppy ears down around his face, we haven't seen that in a wild rabbit before.

Coffee is finished, time to get moving Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-01-2025

Morning everyone

There is a little breeze but not as chilly this morning.

Oh I do like looking out the windows to see the lawn done.

Sadly my not so old leads are having a hissy. Ill speak to my sparky neighbour to figure out if they can be helped, or come up with an option for better ones. Ill have to start selling again to be able to get something. A Petrol mower would be ok, but starting them might be hard. Or maybe a battery one, but the size of the yard might mean its a 3 day job. The neighbour takes two days to do hers.

Off to the home today to do the painting. Its been a few weeks. I know Mum is looking forward to it.

And Ill update them on David. Apparently it was 6 hours before they hooked him up to the Antibiotics. But that's not the worst of it. Bella and Max are at a kennel, and Bella attacked another dog, and Max reprimanded her and attacked her. So Bella is off to the vets this morning. He's worried and hates not being with them.

Ill pop in and see Cam today and tell him they have David hooked up and hopefully fixed by Friday. Well that's What David thinks.

I plan on sorting the sewing room out on the weekend, which is why I did all the lawn. I dont have to worry about it. It has slowed in the growing tho compared to last time I did it. Yay.

Ohh the Guava tree, as small as it is absolutely covered in fruit.. I hope to make a little guava Jelly. I do wonder what colour it will turn out cos they are yellow, no red in sight.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Battery mower way to go Popeye.

Had nice trip up coast yesterday morning morning tea in beach side cafe wee look around the few shops. Got DGD2 a small watering can she loves playing with water will keep it here.

Got dress fabric cut out and sewn to point  of adding lining bar interruptions might get that done this afternoon.
Just spent frustrating half hour trying to renew DGS National Geographic Kids subscription wouldn't recognise my password and forgot password option not functioning. Did figure out a work around as I wanted to use my points to reduce the $$. All done now for another year.

arggg the two power banks we have died. I use them with the lightbox for tracing my designs onto tracing paper with the heat pencil. A blimmen nuisance for both of them to go at the same time.

Bella and Max sound pretty stressed, popeye. Have they been in kennels before?

An empty birds nest fell out of a tree this morning and it was lined with some Furry Feind fur. The birds must be following the Furry One lol. I bet the baby birds were nice and cosy.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-01-2025

Bye bye baby bunting, daddy's gone a hunting, to get a little rabbit skin, to wrap his baby bunting in...

Now there's an old one!

Oh, if only! Madame Le Cat has a remedy for that - or indeed anything which doesn't meet with her approval. It consists of an especially loud meow, repeated every 10 seconds, then 9, then 8, then 7 - since I've never made it past 7 seconds I'm really not sure how long she'd keep it up. Rolleyes

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-01-2025

Im just worried Mica that the battery might conk out before I get it done. but still better than a petrol one which I probably couldn't start.

Had a nice time painting today. But there are Two who today pushed both Dianne and I to our limits. But we got through. And realise just how hard it is for the workers.

Yay got my $135 piece of paper for the year. Car rego. Still glad its cheaper than Aussie tho.

Need to do my games was a bit slow this morning

Thats the Odd thing, They were at the same Kennel just before Christmas. So not sure what is going on.

I cant imagine Gentle Bella attacking anything.. Max  we know nothing of his history so anything is possible.  but odd that he attacked Bella.

Ill be asking David Later if he has heard how she is.  I certainly hope they have Max separated and Bella if she is back.

We've got over 1/4 acre of lawns and gardens which are mowed with a battery Stihl lawnmower. Too many trees, shrubs and other obstacles to make a ride-on practical so invested in a commercial grade battery mower when our last petrol one wore out. Two batteries and a reasonably fast charger so by swapping back and forth there's always a fully charged one ready to go, all charged from our solar so we're now strangers to our local petrol station, and to pushing a mower around in a cloud of exhaust fumes. Batteries also fit our weed whacker, and our next chainsaw when the old Husqvarna next throws a wobbly.

"Bye bye baby bunting, daddy's gone a hunting, to get a little rabbit skin, to wrap his baby bunting in.."

That IS an old rhyme, I've only heard that a few times in my life when I was young, and not since I've been in NZ, which is more than 50 years.

Thanks Harm_less.  I am blessed with the fact that I have no gardens to go around. Just the house and fences.  But my little 12 inch cut makes it a long job for this creaky chick.

I will be getting a larger size cut for a start lol. Have always had double ups on batteries for MrPs tools etc. So thats something I would also do.

Gotta win lotto or save first. but Ill get there eventually.

In the mean time there is bound to be alot of bad language as there was last night. Worked fine in the morning, but not later in the day lol

I know what you mean about misbehaving small engines and our transition to electric was a result of unreliable engines and near extinction of skilled small engine mechanics.

Beware though that legacy ICE power tool brands are happy to sell battery versions but do not have the electronics skills to address faults in this new product range. I'm not happy to find out a slightly more than 2 year old $365 Stihl branded device is considered "unserviceable" and no circuit diagram is available to enable an electronics tech to properly investigate a minor fault in ours. Small claims court hearing relating to this in a few weeks. If I wanted a 'throw away' tool I could have paid a lot less for a Bunnings or Mitre10 brand. I'm confident the adjudicator will interpret the Consumers Guarantee Act as I do on this matter.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-01-2025

morning ladies Smile Another stunning day is on its way.

We have always bought Stihl, even going back 30 years when MrK bought his chainsaw. We have found it to be a reliable brand with great servicing from the Stihl guy at Cambridge. My little garden electric saw worked so hard when the tree fell on the house and the hedge trimmer is brilliant. When I am back on my feet and mowing lawns again, the plan is to buy a Stihl mower. MrK wants to trade his petrol chainsaw for an electric as well. What I love about battery operated tools if you trip or let it go, the tool will stop. The trick, as harm_less says, is to have those spare batteries charged and ready to go.

The Furry One is up and chasing Furry Feinds, he's a dog on a mission this morning.

My sister-in-law phoned last evening to say a storm was heading our way, nope, it must have fizzled out on the Mamaku Range as we only had black clouds. It rained so hard for her she lost her Sky connection.

Not sure what is happening today, we have a very busy two weeks coming up, so a few quiet days won't do any harm.

happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-01-2025

Morning everyone

A brilliant day here. Chillyish again.. Hard case really to be chilly on a summers morning

I dont recall MrP ever having a Stihl tool of any kind. But I know for the battery ones we always had extra batteries charged.

Patch had a battery powered self propelled lawnmower. It was too fast for me. But in saying that it would be soo good going up the hills I have lol.

Alot of homework and price findings so I can try and save up for one.

Started a list this morning, of things I want to get done.

David is mending slowly. Dear Bella has 7 wounds, on antibiotics and back at the Kennels. I didn't ask any further cos a Man who doesn't like hospital's, cannot have his wine and has illness isn't going to be happy if pushed. And I know his family have been doing that too much for his liking.

Need to shop today. get a little gas and then come home and make a start I think.

Have a wonderful day

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-01-2025

I was down at the chemists yesterday and as I came out there was a cat inspecting the scoot. Not just any cat but an incredible full grown long limbed dark skinned Sphynx of the once was masculine variety. What a stunning beast he is too. He is a local, living in one of the big villas on the hillside above our supermarket and apparently he considers that part of the commercial area part of his territory with regular inspections required. How he hasn't been catnapped I have no idea, maybe he's just too fast, but oh he's beautiful. And I thought I didn't like the hairless beasties. He has fuzz though rather like the rexes, and the same slightly alien face with huge eyes, very very unusual. He did deign to come to me and gave me a head butt when I chirped to him so obviously he speaks rex but oh... put one of those on my Want list, right next to Abyssinians...

Meeting a sphynx was on my bucket list Hunni. I did it a couple of years ago.. The oddest feeling but once I got used to it she was lovely.

Mr,P always told me It would be him or a sphynx cat.. He doesn't know how close it came lol.

If I ever got another cat I think it would be a sphynx.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-01-2025

I suspect they are as neurotic as the rexes, and as prone to expensive vet care, so maybe - with our budgets - we need to stick to rescues! But if a needy Sphynx turns up I just might be tempted...

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 09-01-2025

I've known two Sphynxes, each was dark grey and beauteous, extremely friendly and cuddly and devoted to whoever was caring for them.   They feel gorgeous - warm and velvety.   The downside to owning one is that they can be quite delicate and are prone to heart problems.   One of the ones I knew used to sleep in bed with his owner and one morning the owner woke up to find that the sphynx was lying next to him, dead.  He's shown no signs of sickness and was only about eight. It must have been shattering.
