morning ladies Smile Looks like we're in for another hot day Big Grin

lol OHH, I don't kill them, just chase them off. We are very lucky to have the variety of bird life that we do. Except for the plovers, they can buggar off.

I had a good catch up with a friend yesterday, it's been a week of socialising lol. I came home to find MrK and the Furry One sound asleep on the bed lol. Neither of them heard the car or me come in.

There was another nasty accident on the Kaimai Ranges yesterday, three vehicles with the driver of one being taken to hospital by air ambulance. And a car cut a truck and trailer off over Karangahape Gorge way causing the truck to flip on its side. It's nuts how many accidents there have been. SH29 was closed for hours while they sorted the Kaimai accident out. Am so glad the birthday lunch we went to in Bethlehem wasn't yesterday, the actual birthday.

We're not doing a lot today, just pottering about.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-01-2025

Morning everyone

Going to be a hot one today I think.

We have tui, blackbirds, mynas and thrush here. The wax eyes occasionally.. There is one Myna who keeps me company when doing the lawn. Often getting bugs and worm's where I've just cut. Loud bugger tho. I can hear him over the mower.

Its a year today since MrP died. I was a mess yesterday , nearly didn't go up to the home but I made myself. And not a tear to be had. They were making Mocktails in the main lounge so Irene, Dianne and I sat holding hands getting each other through.. Mum was upset the day before thinking both her girls were in Hospital. They both had clinic appointments.
Dianne is coming with me to my appointment for my tummy which is great.

David is home, the dogs are extremely happy. He offered to take me up to the home today as a distraction. But I think Ill just play in the office again now I've had some time off.'

I have decided to decorate the hall stand with red and white. Which I have got a red Koru and a white Twist on there already. so Ill gather some other bits and dress that later.

Have a fab day all

Grief is a weird business popeye. No matter how long or where it can sneak up behind us and slam us from behind. And each time it is just as bad as that first, and takes just as much strength to pull ourselves out of it. Look after yourself, it takes a toll.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-01-2025

A year already, wow. Look after yourself, popeye.

Our neighbour's cat must have a death wish... found evidence of two bird kills on the lawn. The Furry One is on the trail. This cat is either extremely brave or extremely stupid. And I don't want to be the one to tell the neighbour our dog has killed their cat when the time comes. Sad

I thought some pics from around the garden might put some smiles on the dials today.  Smile  The white daisy is a favourite as it is yellow underneath the petals.  So, when it closes up after the sun has gone, it looks like there is a yellow daisy planted there.

And a few more Tongue

 Beautiful Kiwimade.

I love flowers but not gardening lol.

Ive been invited out for afternoon tea to view the Manor House lol.. Davids new house, well 5 months lol.

Dianne giving me chit  lol, maybe he will propose properly today.. I said Nah I aint training anymore lol.. And got her back with I could scare the living daylights out of him tho.  We both saw the photos on the house listing and in the bathroom is a mirror across from a mirror. In spooky language it can be a Portal for Spirits.. not sure how he stands on that,  but if he gets cheeky I'll let him know lol  Would love to see his face with that.

But cant be too mean it was 9 years since his dad died yesterday and I know he wanted to visit his mum but he only got out of hospital yesterday and they vetoed flying

Just take things very easy Popeye.

Gorgeous flowers KM, especially the snapdragon? (I think) & love the colours; I'm fairly useless with flowers apart from a very few which somehow survive despite my ineptitde.

Sentry bird still at it, it takes a while to realise when Madame Le Cat has come inside but the peace when it finally does is lovely!

Big Grin

Top from left: Echinacea, dahlia beginning to open, gerbera (it's a weird double flower)
Middle from left: tiger lily, begonia, tweedia
Bottom from left: daisy, mystery purple thing my sister-in-law gave me

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-01-2025

I enjoyed tweedia in my Blenheim garden, and a deep pink salvia with buds like the turkish caps or the roofs on minarets. It was a lovely thing. And the tiger lily is an old favourite of mine too, no room these days sadly...

Could the purple be tibouchina? Be nice if the buzz could move so I could check out the centre... Shy

My resident horticulturist suggests Heterocentrons elegans, aka Spanish Shawl or Trailing Lasiandra.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 19-01-2025

That would be nice, I'd give that plant garden space...

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-01-2025

Good morning everyone

Think its going to be a stinker heat wise today. But that's ok, its been a cruisy summer.

Davids place is a small bit of heaven. Lots of mature trees and gardens. The biggest tree was planted in 1914. Who ever designed it did really well. It suits the old house. Which has covered veranda's all around.. My fave part has to be the orchards.. standing there eating sweet juicy plums straight from the tree.

If any of you wise women know what to do with literally truck loads of Figs, please let me know. The tree is absolutely loaded.

Hanging off the oldest tree was a staghorn plant. I remember as a kid seeing a photograph of them. And they tweaked my interest. Had never seen a real one until yesterday.. And as he brought us both a bunch of sunflowers I have some staghorn's popped around the square vase with the sunflowers in the middle.

Bella and Max were very relaxed and happy to be home. The wounds on Bella are mending. Max basically had her jugular vein in his mouth. She was very lucky.

The house itself looks tiny inside but I think its cos the furniture is so big. David showed me photos of his previous partner who passed away on Jan 13th so a heavy five days with Dean then his Dad on the 17th and my David yesterday.

Home in time to watch some of the cricket but I nodded off so dont know who won.

Back in the sewing room today, to go through a couple of boxes that I threw things into like a box of electrical and tv cables etc. Ill sort thought all the bubble wrap too and donate most of it to the oppy. they are running low.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 20-01-2025

morning ladies Smile Another fine day on it's way, I have the hose on the garden already.

Yesterday was a very early start as we had an unveiling to go to near Ohope Beach. It was a gorgeous day but a very long one and we were both exhausted by the time we got home.

Olive, I love that Spanish Shawl, I must get some for the garden. I had to look it up as I wasn't familiar with the name. I'll take a better pic of the mystery plant with leaves and post it.

Today I'm back out in the garden for a bit, along the roadside making the most of the cool start to the day. And the bird bath needs cleaning and topping up again. If it's not done, I'm ticked off by the resident blackbird and sparrows.

We heard the town siren go off not long ago for an emergency. We often hear it if it is a still day, or we have a northerly. Someone's week is starting off badly.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-01-2025

Morning everyone.

It has rained and is raining.. Yay..!!!

Had a good pottering day yesterday. Went through the bubble wrap, tissue paper and plastic bags. A bag of bubble wrap for the oppy and soft plastics for the supermarket recycle bin.

Went through the shopping basket size lot of power cables plugs, phone cables, tv aireals, mobile cables and plugs etc. The oddest thing tho is we got 2 Freeview boxes but have 3 remotes lol.

Off to the home today. Dianne and I are planning to go through Mums shelves etc in a spring clean manner.

I have to be home by 3pm for a pick up. Sold a bookcase that I emptied in the sewing room. Gives me money for gas for next week.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 20-01-2025

Good morning.

Sunny with a bit of breeze. Forecast says rain tomorrow so I'll hold off watering.

Another catch up weekend with all the jasmine having a good haircut! Lucky that son took it away in our trailer that he borrowed, lol.

Lovely flower pics KM. Aren't the dahlias good to have on show this time of year.  I'm enjoying the new ones I planted and picked a colourful bunch the other day.

No plan today,  will hold off grocery shopping until tomorrow.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 20-01-2025

Dahlias are such a good 'buy' and a really useful plant for the garden. Great picking and they help suppress the weeds. We saw some lovely dahlia displays in Whakatane planted by the council. My sister-in-law said we would help divide them lol. I dug our jasmine out last season as I could no longer cope with the hayfever. And it was growing into the tree we wanted taken out, so it was a good opportunity to do both at the same(ish) time.

My heart's racing so in I've come to sit for a while. I did manage to do a bit more than I thought so am happy.
