RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 26-01-2025 We had rain but none of the rough stuff. My friend from CMA who ignored her pain, in the desire of never being bad enough to be put in a rest home Passed away last night. She was larger than life. Always smiling, never heard a cross word from her. But she always said she wouldn't go into a home. She was in a council flat and it was packed to the gunnels. With enough room for her large walker and herself. I hope they give you time to clear the flats cos rest homes only give you 24 hours. Please dont ignore pain.. EVER... her gall bladder was always bad. But so was her liver and she had bowel cancer that she didnt know about. she went into hospital a bare week ago. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 26-01-2025 The notice period is 21 days now, but tenants who die don't have that obligation. The executor, or family or whoever get three weeks before the landlord sends in the cleaners. Sometimes they bring a big waste bin with them and everything left behind goes into that before the demo crew move in to strip out internal fittings and fixtures past their use by date - particularly when the tenancy has been many years. That length of tenancy and end strip out is why I am allowed to paint - we aren't usually granted that privilege, but my unit will be gutted and entirely refurbed when I depart. Wish it could be sooner... Thanks Hunni I will talk to her Daughter so she cant be bamboozled. They may have already started cos I noticed her car was gone on Friday. Means there will be two empty units. Janettas was right up the back. Which is odd cos she was on a walker. They did smooth out the pathway a few years ago. It was chronic. RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 26-01-2025 Hunni that’s disturbing reading about your friend - I have a definite exit stage left plan but have made my grandaughter promise me if I head down the slippery slide with complete oblivion she will ensure I get the message .My Mum wanted to go in a rest home at 99 - she wanted the company of old people she wanted to cheat at cards etc - she absolutely refused to live with any of us - we were very lucky because she was 99 and had just had her gallbladder removed the rest home owned by the Masonic lodge took her as they thought she wouldn’t be around long so they gave her one of their respite units initially - her care was brilliant - we were allowed to take food extras in to Mum but no way was she allowed to share with other patients - they followed all the regulations religiously and it showed .Robie supplies a lot of rest homes with potato flakes as well as many top restaurants - there is a strict protocol for food supplied to the rest homes because of product recall - if they do get a recall notification the first thing they do is check if any has been supplied to rest homes as it could be deadly for a compromised elderly person .An elderly couple a few doors down have just sold their home and are heading into the rest home Mum was in - it’s sad she is fit as a fiddle but he is a large man and she can no longer cope with his failing health My brother gathered up his grandchildren and their cousins including my grandchildren - 2 of them are already living in Oz one of his daughters married a young Ozzie doctor who has to initially practice rurally so My brother took all the cousins up to build a drs practice and a law office in a place with about ten ccs in the bane that has completely escaped me - she is a lawyer - so the ten of them have had an absolute ball - he is hoping it will be remembered as the time they all got together - my young foster grandson was over the moon when he was included - these photos are very un pc and irresponsible but he was headlines in the newspaper at 18 months - never supposed to walk again as every bone was broken and woukd never show any empathy the experts said .To me these photos are just pure joy - the pool is above the waterfall had to blob out his face https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2183018340.jpg https://trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/full/2183018192.jpg Wouldn’t it be lovely to be young again RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-01-2025 morning ladies ![]() Lovely photos, Jan ![]() I'm hoping to do a bit more weeding this morning while the ground is nice and soft. And maybe divide some of the smaller plants that need dividing. Our main road is very quiet but busy as heck yesterday. We were guessing, but think people decided to go home because of the weather. Two accidents on our side of the Kaimais, luckily no one killed this time. I need to buy some steel wool for my new pincushion. I was thinking of those steelo pads with no soap, but MrK suggested the one used as a fine finishing grit for sanding. I'm hoping Mitre 10 have them, if not then it will be Bunnings when in Hamilton tomorrow. Our hobbies tend to 'crossover' every now and then. I'll take the plastic plant pots in for recycling to Mitre10 as well. Better give them a clean today. Time to get moving before the day heats up. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-01-2025 Morning everyone Dry at the mo, but it will rain again. It was nice watching it yesterday at about a 22 degrees angle. Close to totally sideways. lol The house looks much nicer now, being vacuumed and most things in its place. Since I have some clothes to hang up Im going to have another cull in there too. And I have a pair of shoes to find. They are new and will fit Colleen. She already has a pair the same. I finally found my previous Dr on FB last night. I have wanted to be able to Thank her for changing my life. So I left her a message with a couple of Photos. While it would be wonderful to hear from her, Im just happy I was able to thank her. Have a wonderful Day everyone. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 27-01-2025 Good morning. Sunny, blue sky and some wind. Feel for the Mangawhai community having to recover after the destructive tornado. That road such a busy one KM and I always feel relieved to get to a destination in one piece! Indeed Jan, sometimes it would be great to turn back time! Plan to go to a cafe/deli later this morning for coffee and stock up on fresh veges/fruit they sell from local growers. No plan for the rest of the day. Only a week left before back to school routine. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 27-01-2025 Morning all Very heavy rain overnight fine now not expecting very hot temps comfortably warm. Nice photos Jan Been to gym run vacuum been feline by cat now having a wee rest late night last night watched first 2 sets Australian open tennis could keep my eyes open about midnight so called it a night. Physio this morning no plans for this afternoon might visit friend if she home her DH still in hospital 3 weeks now so need to catch up with her face to face rather than over the phone. Need to getnmore fresh fruit love this time of year with all the stoned fruit ![]() Finished my wee cross body purse and pleased with how it turned out Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-01-2025 Wow.. took me two hours but I went through my wardrobe. Tried everything on, and what didn't fit was put into baskets to sell, give away and bin.. The couple of new blankets and a cushion inner, why that was there I dont know... also moved into the glory box. I can see all my clothes, I dont have to try things on before I wear it... BUT.... Best of all a dress I brought over 6 years ago, but probably more actually fits.. I loved it when I found it and always said I will wear it one day. I will have to wear it over some tights.. I have 4-5 pairs of those never worn either lol.. But in the Autumn, cos its still a little warm for them.. Found some pajama pants that I vaguely remember buying. Still with labels, along with underwear, knickers possibly too big lol. And my stash of summer nighties.. all like new from oppies.. Im a bit of a shopaholic when I see a bargain. But nice to know I can grab anything and it will fit and be worn lol Only a corner in the garage to do now. But It will wait RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 28-01-2025 morning ladies ![]() Amazing what you find when you dig deep, eh, popeye lol. Not much happening here, the usual same old, same old. Grocery shopping for me this morning and a quick visit to either Mitre 10 or Bunnings for some steel wool. Later if I feel up to it, I need to plant my favourite begonia into the ground. It's struggling in the pot and has collapsed completely. New leaves are beginning to grow thank goodness. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-01-2025 Morning all Fine but very nippy start hope it warms up Good to have a clean out Popeye we don't need alot of stuff. Nothing in the diary for today so we going for a jaunt up the coast and to visit a cafe we haven't been to before. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-01-2025 Morning everyone. Its cold lol.. I had to add a layer to sleep last night. lol. but its beautiful out there. No wind as yet. Its felt really good going through my wardrobe. A couple of things that I really love I cannot wear tho. They just slide off the shoulders. Im well stocked for winter, wont need a thing. I gave the couch away last night. Its being picked up later. Going to a school which is cool. In the reading nook. So that really makes me happy. Need to pop out to Davids to raid his lemon tree, well letter box cos he will put a couple in there for me. He doesn't know its my secret ingredient for Jam lol.. We were texting yesterday and he said it will be nearly 2 weeks before we see each other. Sounded Sad.. I really get confused by him at times lol.. But I can always visit on my days off, between all our medical appointments. and while he is stuck at home waiting for the district nurse lol The plant he gave me is called a Belophorone. Its really hard to describe but the flowers are more like leaves and yellow but they have like a white and pink tongue, kinda like an orchid, sort of. . I will try and get that into a larger pot later today. Might try and get some of the stalks out front done too. Pills need to kick in first. I slept on my bad last night. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-01-2025 One thing I rediscovered while doing this latest declutter exercise was that same small pleasure that comes from giving stuff away. I still sell the odd thing but it is a lot easier to just bag up the good stuff and drop it off to the free library, or one of the op shops. And having the big waste bin parked outside my kitchen window was a huge incentive to get rid of the stuff not worth donating. I had an email last night from my online typewriter expert friend telling me he has been able to get both my dead machines up and working again, and that they'll be coming back to me this week. One of them is one I found for someone else, it came from a recycling centre in Wellington and cost more to ship than to buy, but now, as a working machine it is worth a whole lot more than that investment, so I hope she likes it. If nothing else it is the colour she needed it to be - she is very disciplined about everything being blue, lol. I like blues but couldn't say no to so many other colours, especially the singing brights and jewel colours. Which might explain why I have my eye on a certain hot pink jacket for this weeks fritter money. We'll see if the universe decides I can indulge in that bit of frivolity! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 28-01-2025 Indulge! Indulge!!! ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-01-2025 Hot pink gotta have ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-01-2025 Yup. Going to be really fun with my new orange fishnets... (Under my denim maxi skirt, cos I am just not THAT brave!!) Lol orange accessories- hat, jewellery, shoes ![]() ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 28-01-2025 Orange & blue go well together. The cover of this week's Listener features David Seymour's face on a piece of toast... I hope its prophetic & he's toast at the next election. Did dreaded groceries first thing & oh joy! they're working on the road yet again so have to detour which is annoying & slightlly longer. Its the very same bit they've worked on twice already, & not that long ago either. Was just making a coffee when eldest grandduaghter & her two boys called in - I swear those kids have grown another foot since their last visit! Lovely to see them though, they'll be back to school on Thursday. Also did a bit in garden & noticed those damned buttecups attempting another takeover bid among the mint, so will have to have another go at them.
