RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 09-02-2025

Good morning.

Sunny and already heading to a hot day. We had a shower overnight.

A nice relaxing weekend catching up in the garden while DH prepares the garage door for restaining ... glad it's him and not me with that job! Enjoying the passion fruit, rhubarb to cut and cook and baby butter beans growing rapidly. I hope I can keep the rest of the blueberries away from Mr Blackbird ... he got caught inside the net once more and after a fright (I hope) I let him out! More reinforcing with the use of bricks around the bottom ... what a pain for me to get to them now!

Lovely vista through your door OHH ... so nice to see and appreciate the green outlook.

I hope the feline enjoys the hammock Mica. You will have to show the Eyespy quilt in here, so I know what it is!

Cuppa finished,  better get the washing out.

Enjoy the day all.

Thank you for all the nice comments about my photo, it reinforces my feeling that making our living space an extension of ourselves is a good thing to do. It is like choosing our clothes for the day, or adopting a position on anything at all - politics, faith, education, crafting, relationships, whatever occupies our thoughts - and developing it, is good for us. It reflects who we are and expands the circle we live in. Good for our mental health...

I watched Q&A this morning, and it was worth every minute. Both comforting and thought provoking on a several topics that are facing us all at the moment. Recommended viewing.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 09-02-2025

Decided to do some baking ginger crunch base in oven.

We record  Q&A OHH its a programme we both enjoy. DhH says its brain food compared to what else there is programmed on the telly.

I agree with your DH. But I like trash tv too, because it makes me feel so superior, lol. I should be ashamed, but pass the popcorn...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-02-2025

morning ladies Smile What a gorgeous sunrise we have this morning.

My sister loves all those trashy 'reality' programs too. I hate them lol. There must be enough people watching them for those programs to be shown. We haven't watched Q & A so will look it up on demand.

I plan to spend some time outside this morning before the rain arrives. Always something to do out there Smile

My favourite embroidery hoop died. I shredded the screw and nut that tightens it. I even had little teeny tiny metal shavings in my hand. I'm going to invest in better hoops this time. Luckily, I have the stand MrK built me, and I will use that.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Nice temp here this morning. Still no rain.

David loves those trashy reality shows. married at first sight etc.. Cant stand them myself. I do like the great British Sewing Bee and the British Bake off.. I dont even watch master chef and I dont like ones like the Treasure Island ones. where cunning comes into play and people get cunning.. Anything that has a money prize i dont like really. It brings to worst out in people I think.

Dianne and Hubby are going to see Mum today, I think it may be time for the Paliative care talk.

Apparently colleen and Annie are still at it. So I wont go in today. I made lemon honey for them yesterday, but I certainly do not reward bad behavior. So Dianne and David can have a jar. That leaves one for them to share when they pull their heads in.. nearly 88 and 75 and acting worse than teenage girls.

Did alot of painting yesterday and I suspect alot will be done today too.

Have a wonderful day everyone

I don't think age has anything to do with it, when prickly personalities come together, scatches get scritched. And some people have really hard to ignore spikes.

I am choosy about my trash addiction. The Block, MAFS, and The Summit. Those are mine, which does leave quite a few unwatched. Increasingly I am finding regular tv offerings unwatchable. I think it might be my age, and just as increasingly I remind myself of my grandmother lol. And like her the tv is becoming more and more background noise to other more satisfying things like reading and stitching and writing or typing random thoughts. Or like yesterday, youtube politics while I ripped up the paper copies of my academic adventure and filled one of those brown paper shopping bags with torn up well crafted essays each with their proper citations and long bibliographies. I was an A student, these days I am a lot less focussed, but a lot less stressed as well.

I found the printed out Advanced Care Directive that I should have filled in five years ago. Procrastination. Or not wanting to think about that End of Life stuff? I am not going to file it away again. Maybe it sitting there in its bright yellow plastic file cover will make it impossible to ignore and I'll get it done.

And maybe not.

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 10-02-2025

The only reality show I can bear to watch is The Great British Bakeoff, and even that is getting increasingly infantile, with the participants squealing and tittering like five year olds, and the "show stopper" increasingly ridiculous, more about manipulating fondant than making something edible.

I loved The Great British Sewing Bee but it doesn't seem to be showing any more. Is there a further series?

Apart from the 6pm news we never turn the tv on unless watching something that's been recorded so we can skip through the ads.

The only reality shows I watch are two Brit ones,Race across the world & Rich house, poor house, although the Rich house, poor house has started to seem a bit contrived in this latest series.

Race across the world I like because they tend to go to places which are off the beaten track.

Although, I've lately discovered James May & the dull men - slightly daft but enjoyable & shows why the Brits have that reputation for eccentricity.

It might be because comedy has degenerated into sonething unrecognisable that I have found many more laughs in trash tv offerings. Though I also wonder about the cruelty in some of them. Are these the 21st century version of the gladiator games that Roman despots put on to keep the people pacified?

Maybe.

I follow Dull Women and Dull Men on farcebook. There are some wonderful people with lovely stories on both.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-02-2025

lol yes, I am Tongue And there have been some really witty posts.

The only reality TV we watch is... hang on, let me think lol...the Great British Sewing Bee, The Repair Shop on occasion and the NZ country house/town house one. And only because another of my sisters-in-law have their old home on the program and we are waiting to see it. She's the second one in the family to have their home shown on that program.

It's raining, wahoooo lol, saves me watering the garden.

Had a lovely surprise this morning, asked for a statement for the wheelie bins and we are in credit so don't need to pay this pay round Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 10-02-2025

I've not had one for a year or more but just had a scam phonecall from some bloke claining to be with Spark, told him I'm not with them but apparently these devilishly clever people out there can play havoc with your internet connestion & emails.

Told him I'd contact my internet provider & see what they say, & hung up..

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-02-2025

Good luck phoning me scammers, I can't hear voices on my calls, not sure if it my ears or the phone, but I think I will get a hearing check just in case.

Cheaper than a new phone!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-02-2025

morning ladies Smile The rain is coming Big Grin

Since getting rid of our landline the scammers have stopped calling. We still receive the odd text from them though. My phone blocks odd numbers Big Grin I think Specsavers do free hearing tests.

Grocery shopping and a quick call into Spotlight for me today. Am hoping to have it all done before it buckets down.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 11-02-2025

Good morning.

It's overcast ... may or may not get some rain, hopefully so.

Back to school routine yesterday with the 5yo now at school. It always gets me with the size of the school and several classes for each year,  my own kids in a school 10x smaller,  lol.

Groceries today, library books sorted yesterday. I'll try and replenish the baking supply with family staying at the weekend.

To keep my hands busy  I've been knitting Izzy dolls ... cute, quick and uses up spare yarn.

The scams I get these days are via text e.g. the ones letting me know I have a parcel to collect!

Have a good day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-02-2025

Morning everyone

Sun is up here. Hopefully it will rain later.

I get scam texts. and daily calls from Australia. it seldom gives me time to pick the phone up let alone answering it.

Could end up at the home today. Mum was doing so well yesterday they were weaning her dependency off the oxygen. Dianne is going in to do a bit more of her room.

I have to do my bloods and pick up pills.

We are all talking, the supporters group as we call ourselves, about the crap of Colleen and Annie. They are not only making themselves miserable but it makes it bloody uncomfortable for us too. Resisting bashing their heads together.. But we can all get up and walk out.

Not much left on my picture now. Possibly finish today depending on how long Im out.

Have a fab day all
