RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-02-2025 morning ladies ![]() Thanks for the link to the artist, Olive, a very interesting lady and website. We had some drama in the garden in the wee hours. Cat v possum v dog... sigh...The neighbour's cat and possum decided to have a yelling contest and the Furry One joined in by eventually chasing them both off. I'll have a look around the garden shortly and see if any fur went flying. I'll be glad when the neighbour's apples are finished so the possum stops visiting. I cut the fabric too short for my embroidery and had tacked on my mother-in-law's rose before it twigged. Never mind, it will fit the tray we use when we have our cuppa outside. I'm thinking of making a fringe edging for a change. And I'll redo the rose for the bedroom on a bigger piece I have prepared for something else. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 17-02-2025 Good morning. It's been raining and has been most of the night. Should be fun going to school ![]() Busy weekend with family here, today will be catching up round home. Will suss out some knitting or embroidery to keep the fingers busy later. KM your latest piece for the wooden box is lovely. Do you make up the design yourself? I always have hummus on hand ... we like it on crackers. Perhaps time to have a go at making it ... beetroot hummus is yum. Sorry to read about Mum passing away Popeye. You are a good friend to have on board. Had better keep moving to get out the door in half an hour .... SO wet out there though! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 17-02-2025 Morning everyone I dont think it has rained.. I really hope where ever I move to next has a tin roof. Cant hear anything on the tiles. And Im hard of hearing anyway. Telling the grandies was hard. Dianne has heaps to do today, she knows Im only a text away.. I have to go do my blood. I went in on Friday and the chairs were full and people waiting outside. They took alot of stuff home yesterday so its only stuff Dianne can handle today. Feels weird. Have a good day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 17-02-2025 Morning all Overcast Sorry about Mum passing Popeye sounds like she was surrounded by people who loved her. Fab embroidery KM can't wait to see it adorning Mr Ks box Hard work out at gym this morning , dentist check up later this morning then a bit more quilt piecing this afternoon. Car got cement splash yesterday on way to Palmerston North took DH several washes to get it off when I returned home. Had a good time with sewing group Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-02-2025 Soft rain continuing but in a break I went out to check on my potted garden on the deck and discovered basket fungi popping up all over in one of my pots, the little white egg shaped young ones. So I look forward to seeing the baskets form, they have always fascinated me when I spotted them in the bush, so this will be interesting. I had no idea they were natives, so I learned something today. Thanks Wikipedia! RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 17-02-2025 Mushroom weather here - so humid Did anyone else watch Lockerbie - Colin Firth as usual brilliant- it reminds me of the Post Office man so much bureaucracy incompetence .Also loving Traitors on TV3 - the program is rubbish but the production in an old Scottish castle is sublime and the wardrobe department must have a huge budget the costuming is glorious especially the male gay presenter whose name escapes me Finding it hard to get motivated today RE: You can never have enough... - zqwerty - 17-02-2025 Hot and dry here in Chch, almost tropical, supposed to rain this evening, but feels like a desert at the moment with the sun beating down. Temperature with doors and windows open is 25degC in my lounge/kitchen, almost unpleasant. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-02-2025 The pattern was from one of the books I found at the community op shop, roma ![]() We didn't watch Lockerbie as The Crow Girl caught our eye, that's very good too. Lockerbie is next on the list ![]() It is a weird feeling emptying a loved one's room and/or home that's for sure, popeye. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-02-2025 Both of those are on my list too. Coincidentally I watched a dvd yesterday, Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci in Supernova, which was sad but beautiful, and lots of Lake District loveliness to backdrop the story. Both are such fine actors. A damp day here in the smoke, I have peach and cinnamon scones in the oven, I had a need for something sweet, but not too naughty, so those should be interesting. RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 17-02-2025 (17-02-2025, 10:55 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Soft rain continuing but in a break I went out to check on my potted garden on the deck and discovered basket fungi popping up all over in one of my pots, the little white egg shaped young ones. I had no idea they were natives, so I learned something today. Thanks Wikipedia! Beware of any red basket fungi you get - they stink, and in fact their common name is red stinkhorn. We had an infestation in a shady area of the garden that had a heavy layer of bark mulch and the smell was insidious. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 17-02-2025 Yes, these get stinky too, but I like fungi, so I just can't resist the opportunity, lol... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 17-02-2025 I Like Normal Fungi.. Mushrooms. I didn't like to eat them, and I did try but MrP loved them. I loved the whole process of picking , peeling and cooking. And the smell. Just heard from David he said its weird seeing Mums room totally empty. Di did a good job this morning. I dont know why this has me puzzled but they Charge Extra to pick bodies up on the weekend. I kinda figured their job would be a 24 hour one. But pleased Raise a Glass at 9-30 am on Thursday.. I told Di I wont have alcohol but Ill be civilised and use a glass rather than the Pepsi Bottle lol Your stitching ins beautiful Kiwimade. What on earth is up with Trade me. It wont show me a relist option for those that finished yesterday and wont let me change it from an auction to a listing with a buy now.. And I went to book a courier and it wont bring up the option using the sale to be able to book the courier. Dont think Ill bother on there anymore RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-02-2025 morning ladies ![]() yummmm mushrooms, they have to be cooked in butter though ![]() I dropped some goodies off to the op shop yesterday and then called into the Warehouse 'for a look' but also to buy a couple of their bags for the next lot of stuff off to the op shop. They have end of season perennials on special so came home with a couple of cheap plants for along the fenceline. Hopefully I can plant them today. Sometimes it pays to wait for the end of season. Last evening I picked the last of the blueberries, there is barely a handful left to ripen, and the birds can have those. And another sistema container full of grapes. The figs will be ready soon and that will be another race with the blackbird lol. If the weather insists on being wet today, I'll work on my next embroidery project. I've done the edging for the fringe and the rose is ready to be stitched. Not perfectly centered but I can live with that. Happy crafting ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 18-02-2025 Morning all Overcasr rain over night Early start taking DGD1 to daycare will have breakfast when I get back Then dropping DH in city on my way to pick up a friend visiting from deep south shexstaying with family over near airport. Bringing her back home will be alot of catching up is always nice to do in person rather than on the phone. Will have lunch at local Cafe. Too hot to sew yesterdayvso read my book Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 18-02-2025 Thank you everyone for the kind comments about my lid insert ![]() ![]() Good to catch up with old friends , mica ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-02-2025 Morning everyone. Tis wet here too Yayay. Missy has been with me all day and Night. She's moving freer this morning, still not jumping well. Not sure what is happening. I've checked her joints and she doesn't pull away in pain of cry. Just having a slow time for her. Which she does occasionally. She slept on me all night. and is now perched up on the bookcase next to me, with my help. Being her cheeky self. Might go see my ladies this morning. But it is Knitting group day and Colleen goes to that. Although I would like to see Rest home Dianne, cos my Dianne said she heard she wasn't well. She also goes to knitting so it will be a way to find out if she is ok or not. I learnt something yesterday. It costs more if undertakers pick people up on the weekend. I just kinda assumed that they would be a 24 hour business.. AND if you want to go view your people that costs an extra $350 per person. We will raise a Glass to Mum on Thursday at 9-30 am which is when she will be cremated. I said to Dianne I wont do alcohol but Ill use a glass instead of swigging out of a bottle like I normally do lol. I did nothing yesterday apart from snuggling with Missy.. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-02-2025 morning ladies ![]() $350 to view the body???? Wow! And I didn't know it costs more for the weekend pick up either. No wonder more and more families are having their loved one brought home. No plans for the day, still need to plant those two plants I bought the other day. Might give the salvias and clematis a trim back, they are both trying to take over the world. I've stitched two rose petals, and so far, so good. Happy craftng ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-02-2025 Morning everyone Yeah thats what I thought Kiwimade. Thats how they make their money. But as I said yesterday, nothing will have changed between Sunday till now. Other than she may have changed colour. no embalming or anything. So going to see her in a strange place wouldnt be any different than seeing her before she left. Went and saw the girls yesterday. It was quiet there. Didnt feel right. Came home and David is sending drunk texts again I think. hes all over the place, saying he wont see me much. Then asking why I like to take over anything there? simply cos I had said how Colleen Carmel and I were talking about a 1954 murder here. And then Books. And Colleen said they used to have a book club. and wouldn't it be neat to try and have one again. I typed a big text then thought why bother sending it. So I replied and told him it wasn't my idea and I was willing to help Colleen if that's taking over then tough. He likes to control everything from discussions, to what goes on there. even told me I shouldn't be signing the letter Caron is writing about the food. Might just stay away after Friday and see how he likes that. I gave him a jar of Jelly beans, which is something a lot of diabetics have for when they have a sugar low. He said he will bring it back. I said I dont want it. I was given one when I became diabetic and I was paying it forward by giving one to him.. So he gave the lollies to Max the dog.. How Stupid is that? A day at home for me today.. Not sure what I will do. Have a nice day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 19-02-2025 Good morning. Sunny and warm today after a good lot of rain to liven up the garden for a bit longer. There are weeds to deal to as a result! Still picking a few tail end blueberries ... definitely missed out on several icecream containers worth though ... the blackbird must be noticing the lack in his diet now ![]() Enjoying the white petunias surrounding a purple Salvia in my 4 large pots now they have grown. I like to change up the colour/plant combos each time ![]() No plan today but need to replenish the food supply at the supermarket. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 19-02-2025 Morning all Raining over night and few showers this morning Went to gym early so that I could do the daycare drop off again. Had lovely day with my friend always good to catchup Will get on and piece more quilt should get the top complete today then will sandwich it up to quilt it need some inspiration Enjoy your day |
