Good Morning everyone
Yes its is chilly this morning.
Your right Kiwimade. She will no doubt get me back. lol.
I am the magic weapon tho cos she likes to sleep on me for the warmth so she wont want to risk that .
Its nice to be eating fruit from the garden, not my garden, I dont have one apart from chives and guavas. But Pears from Davids. Was nice cooking them up.. The peaches from Dianne are free stone and soo sweet I only added a wee bit of sugar.
Did something I rarely do last night and forgot my pills.. I know why tho. My friends granddaughter came back from a visit with her Parents, she is Red with sunburn. Thankfully my friend put some suncreen on her before she left, she also put the bottle on the bag for them to reapply. But they didn't. Poor little thing is going to be soo sore... I said to my friend make sure you show the lawyers.. They hopefully will get full custody in May. But this certainly isn't going to help her parents for sure.
So I wont go do my bloods today. I dont want to know lol.
Dianne is stopping in today, with more clothes lol. And she will take the too small stuff to her sister for her church.
So Staying home on a Monday that's rare lol

My bff is raising her grandson, she had to fight for custody. His parents are in his life and complicating things for her, and for him, it is not an easy road, that's for sure. Super hero grandparents, they make our lives look so much simpler.
I had a long instagram conversation with my offspring last night with photos of bits of their new home. She is planning her vegie garden and wanted some input. Plus chooks for blue eggs, and companion planting, and the news they now have five cats having adopted another couple of sad ones. Just as well it is a big house, they are indoor beasts. I suggested they might raise a piglet with such a nice big garden, but the idea of home grown ham for Christmas caused faux outrage, lol...

We have a bottle fed lamb that still thinks she is more 'special' than the rest of the flock. 'Lamby' is quiet and addicted to stock pellets which makes shifting the flock super easy with her doing her best to get her head in the bucket and leading the rest of the flock. We didn't name our piglets, and they sealed their fate with me by breaking out of their fenced area at 2am and running riot, eventually ending up hiding from me under one of the sheds, glaring back at me with red eyes, lol. I enjoyed their demise and really liked butchering them. Revenge served cold.
The chook though, the first one, that I met one morning on the way to work, sitting in the middle of the Control Gates Bridge at Taupo, one bedraggled terrified white chicken who had obviously come off a truck, I named her. She was the first chook I had ever handled, I got out of the car, picked her up, got back in and took her to work with me. She spent the day in a cardboard box in the safe of the National Bank with food offerings from my fellow staffers, and couldn't believe her luck. I took her home, and we had her as a pet, bossing the cats around, ignored by the dog, even when we acquired a small flock, she still thought she was one of the family. Till she laid an egg in our bed. Then she got put in with the rest each night and learned to be a barn chook.
Lovely birds, chickens. Small brains, but intelligent for all that. Knowing that doesn't stop me roasting one every fortnight though!

The cat-sized hole in our household is being filled by a neighbour's ginger, who was always friendly but had to be kept away while Billy was alive. He comes over several times a day, we don't feed him but do give him a few Temptations when he insists. Here he is looking as pretty as only an apricot cat can look

I love ginger cats
We named our sheep Roast, Casserole and Chops 
and had no qualms about eating them at all. Our chook was a Shaver, and she was a tart. We ended up with her as she refused to let the other chooks into the coop and was about to go to the chopping block. She never laid eggs for her previous owner, but we had hundreds off her over time. She was much happier as a single, independent chook! She even laid an egg behind the TV and would cut through the house if both doors were open rather than walk around. I have a pic of her somewhere standing on top of our labby who was stretched out in the hallway sound asleep.

Yup, that was the kind of chicken ours was too. Very definite once she recovered from being a factory bird. Great memories, and she taught us well. When the birds from next door started hopping over the fence to dig up our garden I was quite happy to go out and scoop them up to toss back over the fence. More raised eyebrows from my neighbours seeing me shove one under one arm while going after the other, lol. I would quite like a few here, except they do devastate newly planted seedlings!
And the corporate landlord would not be happy...

Nah, no chance. If I had to kill an animal so I could eat meat then I'd become a vegetarian again - or perhaps even Vegan.
Third eldest granddaughter is Vegan & has been for years, I keep telling her that I'd be vegan too if I just had a handy vegan chef...so far, she hasn't taken the hint.
Madame le Cat has a new demand; she sits on my knee & stretches her neck which is my cue to support her furry little head with one arm & stroke under her chin with the other hand. I think she's probably the bossiest cat I've ever had.

First Pig was Robbie Muldoon.. Well it had to be. Late 70s. Next was Miss Piggy
I cried, but once tasted I had no qualms.
Had a Pet Lamb Barrrrney.. Im told they took him to the sale yards but I suspect we ate him. It wouldn't have worried me.
Also very easy to kill Blardy Roosters that fly at you. The second one I had asked MrP countless times to do. I grabbed my metal sheep crook, one back hand swing laid him flat. and I refused to eat him. I dug a hole, picked him up with the crook and buried him.
Today I feel Very Honoured and Very Spoilt.
Dianne came in and brought some more clothes. Suspiciously something separate in a brown paper bag. she said shut your eyes and hold your arms out. I trust her with my life so I did ad I was told.
She slipped one arm into a sleeve, then the next.. A Pure Wool.. Red Jacket.. that was once her Mothers, and her Grandmothers.... We had been talking about clothes one day at the Home and I said one day when I was slimmer I was going to save up and buy one.. I've always wanted one. Always been a dream.
I've been thinking tho Ill need to protect it from Moths.. So Ill use a black plastic bag for now and get a proper bag for it when I can find one.
Any other suggestions welcomed.

For me it is about treating the beasts that feed us with respect, and not wasting that food. I have a real antipathy for animal cruelty in any form, but I accept I am a carnivore and am honest about what that involves. I just wish we had the ability to make all our industrial meat production as respectful and kind as some independent producers have been able to do.
They deserve it.

It's sunny after a shower during the night. Yes, the cooler mornings now are welcome!
Totally agree with giving animals the best life whatever their purpose is. I miss home processed meat but we would never get through the quantity anymore anyway.
Stressful day yesterday with family member coming back out of the woodwork ... today I visit the local Police to give my statement. Mental health such a big part of those who cause trouble
The plan is then for library and a few groceries while out.
Like Christmas receiving those clothes Popeye ... well deserved.
Clever hubby KM ... to complement his clever wife's handwork. The mahogany sounds lovely.

Delivered DH to DD so he can k9 sit. Said k9 made another poor life choice and hoovered another sock it required surgery to recover it. He is a fiend he has had abdominal surgery 3 times now 2 socks and a whole chicken kebab skewer and all. They are so paranoid about leaving socks out the laundry at theirs is k9 proof they don't know where or whose this particular sock.
Dentist for me this morning to have broken filling replaced not sure what I will get up to for rest of the day.

I was at the vets once for a routine cat thing when one of the vets took a call from a dog owner st the beach whose monster pup had just demolished a plastic bag and was on the way to the surgery. Vet and nurse, armed with needle and drug met them outside, gave monster dog the needle and we all waited with bated breath for the upchuck that saved them an enormous vet bill. And once again the vet told owner a muzzle on the beast would be a good idea when going for a nice walk on our many local sandy shores. I would say it was a dog thing to eat weird stuff, but then one of my daughters cats had seventeen hair ties removed from its gut a few years back...
Expensive tastes, some beasties.

Morning everyone
Woke with a massive headache, hasn't shifted much.
Missy took a liking to twist ties, quite early. So mine are kept in containers and I keep an eye out for rogue ones all the time.
Apparently a Margaret from the home passed yesterday. Not sure if it was the Margaret that joined us frequently or not. He hasn't elaborated.
Think I know what caused the headache. reading using a magnifying glass. Really need to get new glasses.
Not sure what Ill get up to today. I was hoping to get some of the lawn done. But nope not going out with the Pollen as well.

Yes son's dog had (big) surgery for similar ... a rubber 'indestructible' dog toy! Big cost to match.

Lavender, Thyme, Sage & Rosemary all repel moths, Popeye. I think there may be a recipe online somewhere to make moth repellant.

My adopted grandsons support dog and pet sheep who thinks it is a dog - loves playing tug of war with the dog - follows the dog into the tack room no problem at all - lucky access to the house is closed off - he or she is one of those sheep that shears itself
