Had a Pet Lamb Barrrrney.. Im told they took him to the sale yards but I suspect we ate him. It wouldn't have worried me.

Also very easy to kill Blardy Roosters that fly at you. The second one I had asked MrP countless times to do. I grabbed my metal sheep crook, one back hand swing laid him flat. and I refused to eat him. I dug a hole, picked him up with the crook and buried him.

Today I feel Very Honoured and Very Spoilt.

Dianne came in and brought some more clothes. Suspiciously something separate in a brown paper bag. she said shut your eyes and hold your arms out. I trust her with my life so I did ad I was told.

She slipped one arm into a sleeve, then the next.. A Pure Wool.. Red Jacket.. that was once her Mothers, and her Grandmothers.... We had been talking about clothes one day at the Home and I said one day when I was slimmer I was going to save up and buy one.. I've always wanted one. Always been a dream.

I've been thinking tho Ill need to protect it from Moths.. So Ill use a black plastic bag for now and get a proper bag for it when I can find one.

Any other suggestions welcomed.

Lavender, Thyme, Sage & Rosemary all repel moths, Popeye. I think there may be a recipe online somewhere to make moth repellant.

The jacket sounds lovely. Smile

Thank you Lilith. I will ask around and see if anyone has any of those.

I only have chives and Mint.

I cant wait for it to be cold enough to wear the Jacket..  Its double breasted too. although Im not one to do things up..

But then I wont have all the bits that cause problems when you do things up . so that might change.

Dianne was blown away at my jeans and top, I showed her yesterday.

Oh I love the curls! What a pretty beastie that is. My sheep were ordinaries, lol, except they were the coloured rejects and orphans from the Lands and Survey shepherds. Who we learned a lot from...

morning ladies Smile another fine day on its way Smile

I love that pic, Jan lol. I've heard of that breed, very useful for small holdings. Our neighbour's sheep expect us to feed them bread whenever we see them, so we have a bag of broken bits and the odd crusts for them in the freezer.

I'm going to potter about today, I need to cut the lavatera back but am waiting for the lawnmower chap to put a catcher of clippings onto the compost first. And the big succulents' (not sure of its name) flowers are finally turning pink. Once they have finished flowering, one will be moved to the roadside. It will thrive there and fill in a big, empty space. And ants have moved into a huge pot. Luckily the plant in it has had its time in a pot and needs planting out. Always something to do Smile

I finished the cloth to cover the bedside cabinet in the spare room yesterday and am very happy with it. My mother-in-law's sketch embroidered up well. I'll iron it this morning and take a pic. MrK loves it Heart

Happy crafting Smile

Morning everyone

Cooler this morning. But looks like it will be another warmer day.

Didnt do much at all yesterday. My headache barely lifted even after doing everything I usually do for it.

Better today tho. The plan is to go int the garage for a tidy up and to get 3 crates down to go through. anything I dont keep ill take out to the school. I think it is mostly stuff I had for a garage sale anyway.

The drunk one is trying to make us feel guilty about visiting the home. We have been polite so far but he needs to be careful. Neither of us have family there. we need time for us. The attitude, moaning and politics that is involved gets you down.. but being pushed from him will not help their case.

I want to watch some of Te Matatini but I know if I turn it over now Ill still be here at lunchtime lol.. So Ill ban myself until Ive done the garage lol.

Have a wonderful day everyone

My cloth for the end bedroom.  Hopefully it will protect the bedside cabinet from the sun.  My late mother-in-law drew the roses Heart and it was part of the embroidery stuff my sister-in-law gave me before Christmas.

Reminds me of the Cherokee rose my Mum gave me a long time ago. Such a pretty thing km!

I have decided these mobile phone things are a pain in the butt. I gave up my nice well trained landline, because of the rumours they were no longer going to be supported by the telecoms sometime soon, - get used to the modern alternative Michele, I told myself. But I hate them. I have difficulty using them, I don't understand these app things, and I forget to take it with me when I should. I lose it under piles of books, or leave it in the kitchen on the charger, or in the handbag on the shelf by the door. It rings and I don't hear it, or a text comes in that I don't catch up with for days. I hate the bloody thing. So I tell my friends, email me. Don't ring me, email me. My tablet is by my side constantly. And most of them laugh at me but they do me that little favour...

Except one. And now she's taken offence and gone into a deep depression because I'm ignoring her, she thinks. I'm not ignoring her, it's that 'orrible little thing...

Bloody phones.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 26-02-2025

Thank you for your kind comments, ladies Smile

oh dear, OHH, I remind people I'm not joined at the hip with my phone lol and they now just leave a message if they can't get hold of me. And especially early in the morning when I'm out in the garden - that is a no phone zone for me. It was a matter of training them lol. Your friend will have to get used to the idea you are not 'on tap'. Hopefully she will come to her senses soon!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 26-02-2025

I too would prefer to have a landline. BUT

When going to the homes it meant i could show them things they wouldnt normally see or look things up for them.

So they have their places.

But they are a pain in the Neck literally when you are diamond painting, which for me means holding the phone under my chin while holding a magnifying glass in one had and the pen in the other, while talking to a friend who has her on speaker. Much easier for her.

If I get calls from numbers I dont know, I ignore them. My cousin has a private number but we have a signal. otherwise yep

Email or Text if you want a reply.

The whanau (mostly Sweetie darling No.2 ) organised me into a cellphone after the quake when the phones went down & Sweetie darling no.3 had to bike & walk over to mine because they couldn't get hold of me.
I didn't want the damned thing but could see their point & so can  sort of use it. Only for telling the time (I can't wear a watch) & for taking photos because I hate the constant updates & gave them up so it probably won't function as an actual phone & anyway, that lot know I'm a technoklutz.
  Big Grin Rolleyes
So I use my landline for phone calls. And that lot know they can get me eventually through FB or landline if its important.

RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 26-02-2025

Beautiful - Kiwimade - understated - timeless

My phone is not utilised either - I only respond to messages or emails on my iPad - my phone is always flat and continually gets itself lost

Speaking from experience - I wouldn’t try a citizens arrest unless someone’s life was in danger - certainly not for groceries - after the thief puts them in his trolley it is regulations that they have to go in the rubbish in case they have compromised them in some way - so many offenders are armed with everything from sawn off shotguns to machete - just not worth it - they don’t get away with it from Robies - he has security cameras that track the thief out to his car - records his rego and the whole lot goes to the police and they are being prosecuted but can’t say even repeat offenders are receiving adequate penalties - different for a dairy owner I guess

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 26-02-2025

I was flicking through Instagram Jan and came across the most wonderful sheep story from this poster -https://www.instagram.com/sparrowhillbeverageburros/?e=71ad1fdd-bb26-446c-9ebc-bf98129d6566&g=5

I hope you can access it - Her reel about preparing her very fluffy sheep for wedding duty is lovely. Such a gorgeous beast! Reminded me of your photo!

And thank you ladies, for the anti cellphone support. I feel less guilty now!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-02-2025

morning ladies Smile More fine weather, we could use some of that rain the South Island is having.

I copied and pasted the link OHH, omg that sheep and cow are gorgeous Heart And so is the donkey lol. They are well loved, that's for sure.

The lawn guy comes today so I will have to move the bins and wheelbarrow for him. He's bringing some garden mix soil so we can begin repairing our lawn. It's been a year since the tree wrecked it when it fell. We missed out in spring as we were busy doing other stuff but now the garden is slowing down, and it can finally be done. It might finally begin to look nice instead of looking like rabbits have been trying to dig it up lol.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 27-02-2025

Morning all
Fine day very nippy start with heavy dew

Love the embroidery  KM.
Will have   a look at the sheep link soon.

My mobile phone is a tool and  I do use it  but I am not its slave  in that I don't necessarily  respond instantly to all the beeps. I do have my grocery shopping list on it while shopping as it identifies the aisle someday I can skip a few aisles.
All my shop loyalty cards are on it too so don't need to carry that lot with me.

Beautiful freshly caught snappercfor tea last night. Friend had been out on his boat on Tuesday and popped in with 2 fillers yesterday morning. It was yum crumbled

My morning at the warehouse   nationally The Nest Collective distributed 1064 packs  through various social agencies and midwives.  last year up 24% on prevous year

Have some knit fabric just calling me to make up for DGDs need to sort out patterns DGD1 has grown a bit,

Enjoy your day

It's possible to turn off all those notifications.   Go into "settings" and switch off all notifications.   You could also put it into silent mode.   Each brand of phone is different, so get one of your family members to do it for you.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-02-2025

Morning everyone

Its overcast here, and a nice temp.

One thing I did like about my mobile was that I put MrPs on the same company so we could talk free. That was a bonus.

Think I might leave the shopping until tomorrow. I have an early drs appointment and they are close to the med center. And I could also go out to the school with another boot load of stuff for the gala.

Although I may sneak up and get petrol since its 18 cents off at Gull. Ill see.

Not motivated to do anything as yet.

Missy isn't good with the Māori Language. I always suspected it, on the odd occasion I sing a Māori song. But she's not into the Kapa haka. She spent most of the afternoon in the garage.

Have a good day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-02-2025

I also have our loyalty cards on a phone app, so handy to have when out and about.

Our labrador always barked at Maori. regardless of how lovely they were to her. Sad Turned out a couple of Maori kids would tease her each day on their way home from school. This was while she was with her previous owner. She also hated the school caretaker (we lived next to a school). Figured out why one day when I caught him teasing her. Told him to stop or I would let her loose onto his bal**. Made a complaint to the school and it never happened again. She still hated him though and never forgave him. She was a very unforgiving dog when it came to people who upset her and tarred everyone with the same brush at times. In saying this, she was the most loyal dog. She protected me from neighbours who came to abuse the heck out of me (they were the ones partying until 4.00am with music so loud no one could sleep). She stood between us with her hackles raised and that really low rumble of a growl dogs have. Neighbours left very quickly Tongue
