RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-03-2025

Yup, it rained on my parade as we finished coffee and cake, so me and the blue machine got nicely dampened on the way home, but joy of joys I arrived just as the contractors finished up, so blissfully quiet as I dry out.
Posted your wee seed parcel km, and don't be cross with me for dumping excess threads on you. If they are of no use please hand them on, too good an opportunity to do a bit more decluttering! There may even be some greens in there, lol...

Having had one of those nights I might just take myself off for a nana nap this afternoon, the laundry can wait till tomorrow...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-03-2025

lol OHH, thank you and ummmm... I've added some orange zinnia seeds in with what was sent on Monday lol.  I thought you could scatter them while out and about on your travels Tongue  And orange is such a vibrant colour Tongue

Popeye, I don't think you have to worry about pruning the hydrangea, it sounds like it is dead as a dodo lol.  Tongue Mine haven't even begun to change leaf colour yet lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-03-2025

Thanks Kiwimade.. Thats what Im thinking too re the Hydrangea.

It was a bloody stupid idea to put it in my car on a stinking hot summers day.. And No it wasn't me who put it in there lol.

My Temu order arrived next door, and His arrived here. I was happily undoing it nicely and it dawned on me, hang on a minute its not big enough to hold a bath mat even if folded. So I wandered next door, found mine on their doorstep but I knocked anyway and said we got each others parcel sorry I had it open before I realised it. He wasn't worried.

Thats a Birthday sorted, hers is in August but she's coming up for mine so I'll save postage lol. Well Ill get her a candle cos she likes them .

My 3rd rendition of Missy arrived too. Its a look to the Left side of her. So I painted for a while this afternoon to get through the Toadstool. Im sort of liking it today. But that's probably cos I want it done so I can do Missy.

Ill have to save for matching frames cos I think they need to be in the same frames.

Did I mention Im happy lol??? I've started doing my little weights again to work on my "Grandmothers Spares" aka my upper arms, graduating up to heavier weights.. then I found myself standing jiggling along to several songs..

I never do that, I cant dance to save myself.. but it was all movement and it felt good. Even Missy wondered what was up lol..

Kiwimade someone has been critically hurt , hit by a train in Matamata.

And we had what people thought was a bomb scare at our College, Turned out to be an email stating that someone was going to "shoot up" the school, another one and the Beehive.

The Dryer is in place, he didn't take the packaging tho. One courier brought Dianne's parcel and the other my neighbours lol.

Its been a good day

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-03-2025

morning ladies Smile We have rain clouds... now for it to rain rather than just pass through.

Sadly, a young student was killed by a train yesterday after school. Kids often use that spot to cross the rail line, another kid was killed a few years back near there while wagging school. I feel for all involved, especially the train driver.

The cat cage is being returned, hopefully the next person has better luck than us Smile

I'm heading outside to keep working in the 'garden' out on the main road. It's busy so I'll wear my hi viz jacket, not that that slows the traffic down. They barely slow down for the school bus. Once the dead weeds are cleared, I can move the salvias.

Happy crafting Smile

Morning all
Very windy and some rain over night nippy temperature.

My volunteer morning will need to wrap  up as the doors need to be open to allow social workers to pick up the packs and people to drop off donations

Got my sweater knit fabric cut out and partially sewn yesterday hope I will have time to finish it today might need another warm jersey soon

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 13-03-2025

Morning everyone

Not too bad here so far. We did have a couple of short showers yesterday.

I often worry about people wearing their ear pod thingees not being able to hear cars or trains etc. and the new electric cars are basically soundless unless backing. They need to pay attention.

Have to pop up to get my pills and a few groceries, but Ill happily come home and do more painting.

It must be starting to cool down in the garage. Madam isnt staying down there as long in the mornings now. shes on the shelf beside me cuddled up to her little bean bag I made her years ago.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 13-03-2025

Good morning.

Another sunny day ahead, definitely cooler now when on school run duty. A pleasant walk though.

A tragedy with the train accident ... a fenced walk area was put up to cross the track here after a school girl also killed in recent times.

Glad 2 hydrangea plants managed to survive KM! You're game, wanting a JR again,  lol. I wouldn't want to repeat having another energizer bunny ... those painted on ears tested me many times! Chasing turkeys and the neighbour's cat 2 memorable incidents (all survived)  Cool

Some more feijoas to stew today ... they are whoppers this year, probably because there is a limited number.  Yum on the morning's cereal.

Will potter around here today.  I see there are more butter beans to pick.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-03-2025

The weeds are out of the ground along SH29 Big Grin It still looks chaotic lol as I've run out of ooomph to pick them up. But I have space now for the salvias. Will take a load of salvias, plant them and do a 'backload' of weeds to the rubbish heap tomorrow. And keep doing that until it is done.

We spotted the stray cat. Our neighbour's cat and The Furry One both sitting at attention watching it carefully. It got the message and moved away. It was almost like the neighbour's cat and the Furry One have teamed up lol. Your enemy is my enemy so let's team up sort of thing.

It's very somber in town today with the death of the school child. The community is certainly feeling it.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 13-03-2025

My favourite Post office courier delivered two parcels this morning to my door, the pink boots I scored on TM and my seeds from you km! I am going to be happily scattering while there is damp soil, next Spring should be great fun to watch, thank you!

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 13-03-2025

So much pleasure to be had as we wait for new seeds or bulbs to do their thing and see what eventually flowers  Smile

Lol, typical KM, the cat shows up after the cage goes!

I hope the mayor is able to find a solution (as she has promised) re the train track ... over the years it has always been a "when not if" when our kids were there, before and beyond  Sad

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-03-2025

Ohh you are very welcome, OHH Smile It's nice to know they will be planted and someone else will have the pleasure of watching them grow. Yes, there is, roma, an awful lot of pleasure. I noticed yesterday the magnolia (Butterflies) we planted in spring, has flower buds forming. I was so excited I did the happy dance in the garden lol. People driving by must think this woman is nuts lol

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 13-03-2025

Bit like the reaction when people pass by me as I murmur love words to my salvias., and speak sternly to my vegies...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 14-03-2025

morning ladies Smile Only a few more weeks of daylight saving left.

lol OHH, I give my plants a verbal warning if they aren't performing as well.

It's back to the salvias this morning, this is going to take a few mornings. We're not due any rain for at least five days. The ground is parched. While cutting the maize across the road the other day, there were huge dust clouds from the wind. So much good topsoil being blown away.

I see the Orange Clown is now threatening Ireland. Hasn't he enough fights on his hands at the moment. I would never make a diplomat lol.

Did you see our mayor was on the news, roma? Saying she would do whatever she could to make the tracks safer. I didn't think she interviewed very well. But I suppose she is stuck with what can be done as she is dealing with other departments.

Time to get organised for the day.

Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 14-03-2025

I was thinking this morning, in that transition phase between waking up and actually opening eyes, about spring bulbs, and how maybe it is time to pull the tulips out of their boxes and pop them into the fridge. And maybe buying some grape hyacinths seeing the ones I had have been overrun by the blue stars. I have seen a couple of images on the socials of grouped terracotta pots with little plantings of bulbs and pretty cowslips and violas, and I am thinking how lovely they'd be on the deck table in August and September before the peach blossom comes in. And I have a nice collection of old terracottas and the round wire tray to hold them all. Then there are all those lachenalias I collected to fill one big pot this year, to put by the front door, to set the coldest weeks on fire with their red and orange flame flowers.

And that is what a chill in the morning air does to me!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 14-03-2025

Morning everyone.

Chilly but clear. I have sleeves on again lol.

I made a decision yesterday. I talked to my friends sister about renting her house, which was their fathers. Financially I dont think ill be any better off but it will be nice to have a change and a much smaller house. BUT as she has to declare her income from it, I will talk to her about seeing if she can lease it to Kainga Ora and then let me rent it.

She will still get the same rent but I only pay a percentage. And should I ever leave she can take it back to private renting if she wants.

So Im going around later today to have a look. I think its only 2 bedroom. I went in there once when we were still at school. But I only remember being in the front room. Its a lovely old cottage. but it also has heaps of outside storage. It also has a pulley up drying rack on the front porch which I totally love.. But we will see...

If I didn't have Missy Id hire a caravan and find a place to park it.

Dianne is coming in today, bringing fish and chips for lunch. And to pick up her parcel. It will be nice to catch up in person. We are both huggers so that will be nice.

I finished the Toadstool last night. Its ok.. But Ill try and sell it. Im going to kit up to do the 3rd Missy... Its 40 by 50 cm's. I should have it done in plenty of time to get Gayles one done for her birthday at the end of July. Gayles is a vase of Sunflowers, her Fave flower.

Oh she showed a photo the other day, her Mother in Laws tongue has finally flowered for the first time. I have never seen them flower before. She couldn't smell anything but another lady said hers did. A pretty creamy white flower.

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 14-03-2025

Morning all
Overcast  no wind nippy start

Busy day yesterday so no sewing
Going to make couple batches gluten free pastry to freeze. Handy to have when I fancy making savouries.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 14-03-2025

The spring bulbs sound lovely, OHH. Mine are all in pots as I keep weeding them out lol. And when they have finished, they go to the back of the garden, and I have the garden free for longer flowering plants.

I knew the mother-in-law's tongue flowered, popeye, but not very often Smile

Oh heck, someone is having a bad day, the fire engine has just screamed by. I heard the fire siren go off in town, sometimes we can hear it depending how still the wind is.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 14-03-2025

So, a small blue box magically appeared in our mail box this morning Heart And do I feel very spoilt. Thank you so much OHH Smile I'll be having fun with the seeds and the threads.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 14-03-2025

Weird thing... I got an instagram message this afternoon from my daughter, with a photo of large blue freesia bulbs in a pack, asking, what do I do now?

I reckon it's trans Tasman ESP.

And I bought the muscari bulbs, plus some big trumpet daffs, and three pale pink scented crinum bulbs, next week should be fun for parcels!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 14-03-2025

Im MOVING lol...

Ohh I love the house, but its not a house its a HOME.. it was built in 1893. It has gently polished floors. Two huge bedrooms, two smaller rooms and a small cosy lounge.

A good size kitchen with heaps of bench space to bake in and the laundry and bathroom at the back.

Theres grapes, Lemon, grapefruit, peaches, plum and apple trees.. Take that David.. I wont need yours lol.

Dianne came with me. And it has the feel of a home. There's hooks, and shelves in all the right places. Plenty of locks. A peephole..

No dishwasher, ensuite or dishwasher and Ive learnt they really dont care. Lol.

I dont have to worry about the huge lawns. They are included. It has a nice front porch with the coloured windows and some with butterflies on the end. And a raisable wrack for washing.

I will need to get a chair for out the front BUT I have an old timber rocking chair that MrP repainted for me.. It currently houses my Peggy square blanket and toys. It could go out there. And Ill have my little piano stool out there for parcels so it will work for my drinks.

I like the separate lounge. It even has a wee built in desk that will hold the tv most likely.

AND I phoned Winz. After everything is paid for Ill have triple the food and gas money than I do now.. That floored me.. I didn't think I would be any better off.

Wish I could twitch my nose and be there now lol.

As the crow flies its probably no more than 500 meters away from where I am now.

How I will sleep tonight I have no idea lol.. Thank goodness I have pills.

Im soo blimmin Happy.. lol
