RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-03-2025

It's a strep throat, dammit, so I have a fabulous growlie voice for a few days along with the more unpleasantnesses. Heavens, haven't had one of these since the kid was around and bringing home a different bug every week. Not nice. Still, I hear wine is a good disinfectant, so all is not lost, and I have genuine excuse to whine a lot and feel sorry for myself.

And it won't mean I can't trim out those fading summer gardens, always satisfying, a bit of havoc wrecking in the garden.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-03-2025

morning ladies Smile Another dry day here in the Waikato, and I don't mean dry as in no alcohol Tongue

Buggar, OHH. It's early in the season to have strep throat, get well soon Heart

That's great the house is working out, popeye Smile A fresh start for you and Missy.

Back to pruning and dividing in the garden this morning. I had an idea yesterday about moving a dahlia to give me more space. It's a big bossy dahlia and will be able to spread out in its new spot. It's MrK's favourite and he will have a better view of it as well. And I can share some of the tubers with our neighbour.

I've gone back to working on the first embroidery and am slogging through it. Some pieces just don't inspire and the sooner I finish the better. The mahogany timber MrK is using for my box has a twist in it and he had cut it before he realised. He's now trying to figure out a way to make it all work. I told him I don't care if the box has a wobble. I've had to trim the board the embroidery was laced too just a tad because of it but now it fits perfectly. I'll relace it today.

This winter I want a denim jacket. Mainly because I've found the perfect seahorse pattern that would look great on the back lol. I was thinking teals, blues, greens and silver metallic threads with some glass beads. A great way to use some of my metallic thread that has been sitting there for yonks.

Happy crafting Smile

Good morning.

Overcast at present but I doubt there will be showers as forecast.

Take care OHH ... various GC have had strep throat and it's not pleasant for them ... or the parents.

Glad that it's all falling into place for you Popeye ... you will enjoy creating your new home with your things around you and just the way you want.

Off to a birthday morning tea this morning ... my Aunty is 93 and enjoying life in a retirement home. Will see how the rest of the day pans out, there is a new lot of merino yarn waiting to get onto needles otherwise.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 29-03-2025

Morning all
Fine not a cloud in sky so nippy start.

Cosset yourself OHH.

Late start for us this morning although the k9 3xpectation of a walk  was on time.

We have seen the resident bunny again this morning k9 also spotted it up on the bank outside our living area. I wonder how many there actually are.

Waiting for my floors to dry no plans for today  other than press my coat very simple sew being boiled wool all edges left un finished. Have a whole cloth quilt festering in my mind currently don't have the fabric to make it. Don't want to invest in the expensive quilt fabric so might nip to Spotlight later once I figure out amounts.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-03-2025

Morning everyone

Sunny at present

Ohh Hunni thats not good re the throat.. You could also gargle Apple cider vinegar.. I love it lol.. And sucking chocolate will also help sooth the roughness of a sore throat too.

Wow I slept.. Best sleep for a very long time. Its all falling into place.

Kiwimade it may be our Taureaness that makes us carry on with projects that we aren't keen on. I dont like to be beaten by anything and will work on things till they are finished .

Her Highness is 11 today.. Yesterday she was playing Roly Poly, when I asked her to roll over she followed my commands. Last night she couldn't even get up onto the chair even if I pushed the foot part lower. But she managed to get up through the night to sleep on me. Had to add a layer at 6am this morning it was quite cool. Then woke up just after 8am lol.

Housework today, and Ill now be able to draw the layout of the rooms and mark boxes to the right place. And Ill be able to use my fretty jars for tea and coffee etc there is a shelf that will fit all those and not be taking up bench space.

And the tv in the kitchen works so Ive decided to leave it there. Hoping that all the other rooms ariels work too. So I wont have to pay $18 a month for free tv. Im making the "lounge" into the spare bedroom. The tiny office will be my sewing room and will hold the sewing table and the 3 pantries.

And there we were trying to figure out how to have the dryer in the laundry without blocking the back door, and we were in the garage and Di says, why cant you put the dryer in here.. Oh wise one she is.. it will free up space and keep the dampness out of the house lol And there is a little step up where the massive timber pantry can sit and not get wet.

Im glad we went back. We saw stuff we didnt see before.

Have a fab day all

My sock order arrived along with the slippers I also ordered a couple of weeks ago.  My feet are going to be toasty this winter.  I hate having cold feet lol.  Now to buy some thick gumboot socks for out in the garden.  MrK's thick socks look ideal, wonder if they will fit...

It's got to be worth a try KM...& if they fit then it'll be first up, best dressed, at least in the sock department. Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 29-03-2025

Hunni, take manuka honey if you have any, its really good for throats.

Just had a first - a quiet knock at door, opened it to find an elderly lady who was even older than me & about the same height, who extended me a very glossy pamphlet all about jesus. There was a younger chap with her & she has one of thsoe walking aid stand thingys.
I didn't have the heart to tell her I'm an unrepentant heathen, the poor old soul probably hasn't much else in her life so I just wished her a good day.

Had a wee look at pamphlet & its a very very swept up production, full colour glossy finish & someone has given JC a haircut & swept back hairdo. Turned it over & it turned out to be Jehovah's witnesses, inviting people to a 'memorial of Jesus' death' by which they surely mean easter.
Can't recall them door knockeing here before so perhaps they're getting a tad desperate - that, or they're after all the sinners in the neighbourhood...& good luck to them with that!

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 29-03-2025

We have them visit here as well, Lilith and we're rural! They are a bit reluctant to come through the gate with the Furry One barking. When we moved here, I said to MrK...oh good, no visits from the Holy Rollers... nope, no chance of that lol.

MrK has very cunningly hidden his new boot socks away lol. He knows that look in my eye Tongue

The big bossy dahlia has been moved and omg, the amount of tubers it had! No wonder it was big. Tomorrow, Jack Frost, a big-supposedly-white-but-flowers-pink rose will be moved. I know, 'wrong' time of the year but I move roses all year round and they survive.

Time to have a rest, that dahlia knocked the stuffing out of me.

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 29-03-2025

Even though we live at the end of a private lane we get JW visits a couple of times a year.   I see them trudging up the drive, calling at the neighbours where all they get a barrage of dog yaps, then coming here where I immediately tell them I'm not interested and please don't come back. They always manage to look surprised and hurt.   I find them horribly intrusive but I can't think of a way to keep them away.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-03-2025

I tell them I'm a witch. Works like magic!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-03-2025

We must have lazy ones here. It was in the mailbox.

Their pamphlet, obviously the same one Lilith, went straight into the recycle bin. So it doesnt enter the house lol..

I do hope that if they chose to call at some stage, that I would be wearing my Pink tshirt with Dont Worry its not my blood written on it in Red with drips and a hand print.. Id love to see their faces lol

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-03-2025

morning ladies Smile A misty, still start to the day. Love these kind of mornings. In saying that, can we have some rain please! It's so dry, the farmers are feeding out already and there are massive (and I mean massive!) dust clouds as the commercial paddocks are being plowed. And just as I typed this, I can smell silage being fed out lol.

'Jack Frost' is on my agenda to be moved this morning. It will be about all I can manage in the garden today, but it will be enough. And the hose will be on today as well.

I laced my embroidery back onto the trimmed board and it fit the lid to the box perfectly. Nice and snug. MrK drilled two small holes in the lid so I can poke a knitting needle through to flip the embroidery out if I ever need too. The piece I am currently working on should be finished in the next day or two thank goodness.

Our son phoned yesterday. The temps over there have been so hot. 37 during the day and 33 at night. Thank goodness for air con. His tickets to Japan are booked and he's now starting to realise he's actually going.

Time to get cracking Smile Happy crafting Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-03-2025

Morning everyone

Sunny here, but I once again slept late. Yay lol.

The time for your son's trip will come around fast KM.

Thankfully I have patience and will be excited for a year before our train trip. Gone are the times of living only for the day, never making long term plans cos we didn't know how MrP will be.. we may pop a trip to Auckland in on the electric train too . Maybe winter would be good. It just makes it more comfortable than wandering around in the heat.

BUT,, Dianne will get a gold card in November so we could use it then and save money lol.. We are so alike in our ways that its like she is a true sister. It does make me wonder what my own Sister would have been like in a later age. They are both Scorpio's.. And my Sister was Barbara Marie, but god help you if you used Barbara, and Dianne is Dianne Marie lol

I'll do my floors today, and I've decided to strip down the spare room, pull everything out of the wardrobe and stack it. Label it of course and then I can actually move other boxes into there. Its one of the closest ones to the garage where they will load through.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-03-2025

And I am a Scorpio, and Barbara Michele, and of course absolutely lovely with it. And I answer to both lol...

The throat thing has moved south and become even more disgusting, but hey these things are sent to remind us we are alive and kicking, when many are not, so be grateful for small mercies...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-03-2025

The rose has been moved. It put up a pretty good fight though lol. And the hebe groundcover seedlings have also been moved to under the birdbath. My pile of garden rubbish is becoming higher and higher. Thank goodness bin day is early in the week. The two piwakawaka are loving having the hose on the garden. It must encourage the midges to fly as they have been darting about. And the blackbird is loving having freshly dug soil.

MrK is making some chili tomato sauce, yumm, it smells so good.

Time for a rest, I'm knackered and suspect I may have over done it again.

I too am just delightful - nearly saintly in fact - & a Scorpio, same day as the King, poor sod.

I really don't know why we have such a fearsome reputation when we're entirely angelic. Nearly..sort of. Rolleyes

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-03-2025

Names are funny things

My Twin is the only one in the family that uses his full first name. Mainly cos you cant really change Daryl lol.
Marie went by Marie, Tony was Anthony, Scotty was Scott, I certainly prefer Su to Su-ann and yep you cant change Daryl, but he does get called Gundy instead lol

The twin and I didn't get family names.. Another reason why for a very short while Gundy thought we were adopted.. I said don't be stupid who would adopt twins when they already had 3 kids lol

KM you need to learn how much is too much... something Im slow on mastering as well. lol.

Hunni, I think its maxigesic I used for a good chesty blah cough etc. One of the few I can take.

Gayle rang.. needs a driver for tomorrow. Shes been having trouble with her arm thingee they use for her dialysis. So they have to put a balloon thingee in to open it up. And wont be able to drive home. They only gave her the appointment yesterday for tomorrow.

Will be up at Sparrows fart tho. Has to be at Muddlemore by 8am... So with peak our traffic it will be an early start.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-03-2025

A couple more hours done.

Two bedrooms into one, barring some rubbish that I forgot I had, and some empty boxes. Ill Get the Glory box room done on Tuesday..

Best thing I ever brought that MrP Never used was the cargo Trolley.. I've used it soo much lol

Found him too, he wasn't in the crate I thought he was in lol.. oops. but its named now.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-03-2025

I have some of that in the cupboard, thanks popeye I will try it tonight. I need a full night's sleep and the cough is a pain.

My Dad left instructions about my naming, I was to be Bruce Michael. Dad got orders for Korea shortly after they married and by the time they embarked Mum was pregnant. Made no difference though, I suspect his seniors were glad to get rid of him, lol. Him being a Scorpio too, and a bolshy Scot as well. My Mum was also a Scorpio, and my grandmother, and her mother, so all in all we think there were probably seven generations of us stingers in a line. I got a 21 gun salute a week or so after arriving, it took that long for the news to reach Dad, the enemy troops knew at the same time and the loud speakers across the lines were full of propagandised congratulations. Hence my Dad ordering the salute which apparently shut them up, lol. Lucky he wasn't court martialed over that bit of nonsense. Still, he did do worse things while over there if his stories were true, and I suspect they were, and having seen the white phosphorus burns all over his back I can understand why he became a very fierce warrior from those trenches, and very protective of the gunners under his command.

We really don't know how lucky we are, being so far from those strife torn years. Long may it be so.
