Mushrooms?

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-05-2025

Wow I didnt know that re the lack of smell. Wonder if that is why I have a poor level of smell.

Question to all. Has anyone had a reaction to a tetanus Vaccine.

The med center said I was due one..

Not kidding I know I haven't had one since before I was 9 years old.

But being on warfarin can mean you can bleed in the muscle, and I take four medicines that it says it can react with.

And in light of my stupid reactions with both covid and flu shots, which are also on the reaction list I think Ill be phoning in the morning and cancel it.

I've gone 51 years plus without having had one.

Wear gloves when gardening popeye. My other thought is your surgery. I think they will require it. Check with your doc or practice nurse. Or your pharmacist...

I pretty much dont garden Hunnie. Might pull the odd weed out but I dont actually like the feel of dirt lol.. Well not these days anyway lol.

I've never been asked or had tetanus mentioned at all  in the last 51 years... I think its the Med Center with a new broom.

In the last week I've had reminders about a smear, The tetanus and whooping cough. The flu vaccine.

Been in my trusty Warfarin post heart valve replacement group on FB. some have it without any trouble. Others say their dr says no.   But none of them have had the same allergic reactions to their flu or covid shots either. Like I do.

Ill be phoning the med center in the morning. I dont want to go down and talk about it, when I can phone.

morning ladies Smile Phew, no fog!

I would add garlic to the stakes just to be sure there is no coming back Tongue

buggar, OHH. Maybe he has a court appearance coming up. Either way, he needs help of some sort by professionals.

I've never had a tetanus jab; I should look into it as well considering all the gardening and stuff I do. I've pulled the violets out as they were on a takeover bid in the garden. And as for the buttercups... I'm with you there Lilith. They seed and grow those big sneaky runners. When they are big, they have to be dug out. Today I will finally prune the last two hydrangeas and take cuttings for the three big pots I eventually want to buy. Weather and MrK's health have meant they had to wait.

It's meant to rain heavily this afternoon so that will be the perfect to time to stitch.

Good morning.

Bleak and raining, an inside day.

Will finally get into some baking that is sadly lacking, have the vest to sew up and finish the beanie to match. Plenty of knitting ahead with 2 more babies for the extended family on the way.

Tetanus shot recommended for gardeners and those who work outdoors. It's a terrible illness to get. I'm still humming and haaing over the shingles one ... yet to ask doctor about it!

Heres hoping the law catches up with the wayward resident OHH.

Time to move,  bucketing down ... I might need the heating on to feel cosier!

Stay warm and dry all.

My immediate neighbour is due back from Oz today, so I am pleased the grass seed has sprouted, that should help me get away with that sneaky bit of 'improving' on her patch. Still waiting for someone to fix my overheating hot water system, its been ten days since I logged that job, so looks like another big power bill month to look forward to. Very quiet out there weatherwise, which doesn't bode well for scooting, so I think I'll stay home and finish a TM listing with photos, and then just knit the day away rather than risk getting drenched later on. And I have to google the best way to do a boat neck, thanks km!

...

I was dithering about it for ages.  What finally tipped the balance in favour of getting the vaccine was that I came down with nerve pain, which is horrible.  That made me understand what my GP meant when she said that although I wasn't especially at risk of shingles it is an awful disease which can have lasting consequences including post-herpetic nerve pain and eye damage.     The cost is the greatest hurdle but it can be split into two payments as there are two vaccinations required, at least two months apart.

I had no side-effects from the vaccination other than mild pain in the arm.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-05-2025

Morning everyone

Its dark and damp here.. Had to put a light on to see the letters on the keyboard lol

I would have the shingles shot. I had shingles and its nasty.. Mine affected my lungs, it hurt to breathe.

My Nephew/son had it in his eye. He is only 53 now.. and is having his eye removed. He has to wear an eye patch, cos even normal daylight makes it hurt. He asked me what I would do, I said if its hurting, and is no use to you, and if having it removed stops you having to live with the pain, Have it taken out.
He talked to his Dr and they have agreed to take it out for him. I am so pleased for him, its lifted his mood and he will be even better when its done. He is an outdoor dude, loves fishing and hunting etc so being outside is his life.

I will be phoning the drs soon and cancelling my appointment. I will talk to my Dr about it, I wish I could talk to my previous about it. I figure Uve got away without having one for over 50 years, it shouldnt make any difference, but the risk of the pain, and any reaction which can include severe ones just isnt worth it to me.

Russian Roulette? I dont think so. Im the most careful person I know.

Got an appointment for a follow up from the orthopedic team yesterday... Ill happily go to that one so I can see the xray on my knee lol.

Its like everyone wants me at the mo. Heart, knee, smear, flu shot (Yep did that a while ago), Tetanus.

Last night I was standing in my bedroom and thought its wrong... I need to put my bed across the corner, so there is room for the drawers that the tv will sit on. Madam will still be able to sit in the window. and I think it will look cool.. Normally to me it would feel like its wasting some of the room. but I really think it will be more functional and look cool. I have a two light, light stand that will go in the corner behind the headboard too.

So once the office work is done that's where I will be.

Hope your neighbour forgives you Hunnie, and Im glad it grew for you.

Have a fab day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-05-2025

Morning all
Overcast mild no wind expecting rain later.

Tetanus  jab is one that I do get others I have to weigh up the risk of setting off my autoimmune condition definitely contra indicated for me to get flu jab. Tetanus  and covid leave me with very sore arm for couple days.
Have seen it in horses and dogs and unfortunately  it had progressed too far for the anti toxin to work.
I am going to be a nag and say you should get the Tetanus jab. Not just gardening risk any penstrating wound eg cat bite is a risk.

Been to gym, battled with the vacuum  now waiting for DH to produce a cup of tea.

Last time I made date scones  I froze half the mix packed up 2 scones lots. Plan on cooking couple for lunch to see if my experiment works will cook from frozen.

Sewing room this afternoon my mini vac attachments arrived this morning so my machines  will get spa treatment  Big Grin

Enjoy your day

better to ask for forgiveness, OHH Tongue Maybe she won't even notice... And your welcome re the boatneck idea. Thought it would save working out the maths for a scooped or V neck line.

The day is turning bleak, it has that soup-and-toast-day feel to it for lunch. Might see what's in the freezer Smile

The Furry One has 'stolen' my spot where I stitch, he loves it and sleeps there whenever he can.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 28-05-2025

Oh she'll notice. If I drop a weed on that patch she picks it up and drops it on my side, lol. Never mind that I do all the work! But hey, people are weird, and I admit to being weirder than most!

The Tatty cat investigated my empty soup bowl last night after I demolished a bit of the new batch of pea'n ham, and discovered her newest favourite food, despite me telling her peas'll make you fart pusspuss... Cats are weird people too. And thank goodness for that blessing!

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 28-05-2025

Frozen uncooked scones  cooked like a charm so soft on inside  nicely brown on outside. Will be freezing the next batch uncooked too. Only down side there was only one each no  seconds Big Grin

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 28-05-2025

I do double batches of nearly all baking including scones that I freeze and pull out a few at a time. A zap of anything in the microwave or toaster and as good as just cooked  Smile

Lol OHH, I have a similar nutty neighbour ... a few years back bit the hand that fed her! Accused him of putting a bruised avocado (that he gave her a number of weekly) in her bin that was on the roadside as he went to deliver  Rolleyes

Nearly forgot I have a long overdue haircut ... better venture out into the wild rain!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 28-05-2025

If your going to cut across one Corner you might as well do 3.

Ohh I do love it. An absolute waste of area, but it looks soo neat.

AND I got my tv out, that I have tried countless times to sell, it also has a dvd player built in..

AND I managed to tune it in, and played a CD in it..

And I feel pretty pleased with that.

Madam "helped" , she is happy she still has drawers under the window to sunbath in. Only its the other bedside table not the set of drawers she is used to. And she still has her 2 stools to help her get up onto it.

My Baking Temu order has arrived. About 7 hours short of a week from China to my Front door.

MrP would be chomping at the bit cos its still unopened, and Paul is a little the same lol.

My Two storage units will be here today too so Ill be building those at some stage.. Might see if Dianne wants to come and help, we work well together, have fun and it will give her a wee break from all she will be going through next week.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 28-05-2025

Bollocksbollocksbollocks & dammit to hell! It seems that I've now got osteo arthritis in my hands...not thrilled. So am trying firstly panadol - 8 a day for three days to see if its helps & if not then some other thing instead which the Doc says will help. The joys of ageing...

I had the shingles jab a while back - the free one so hope it holds good becsuse I had everything when I was kid, including chicken pox.

Cold, grey & miserable here so no gardening apart from a bit of another go at that damn ivy over the back earlier.

Oh I am stealing this idea, thank you mica! A batch is always too many for one, this solves an ongoing problem!  Big Grin

Oh indeed they are.
Madame le Cat has taken to sitting on neighbour's garage roof, from where she can see our entire backyard & if the human sets foot outside she can 'supervise'...oh joy! Rolleyes
