RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-05-2025 Glad you had success with the sewing Kiwimade. Ohh Hunnie Im sure no matter what you plan or suggest they will enjoy. I got my first computer in the October after 9/11 and the first person I spoke to was a Mary from Ohio. We talked for a few years then sadly her COPD got her. I often wonder what happened to the kids she was fostering trying to adopt. I was her first person she spoke to too. It was October 13th lol. Was organized and at Briscoes a few minutes before they opened. Got the electric blanket and a new Jug.. Spent $89.. saved $260,,,, I call that good bargains. Got crates from the warehouse and they had crocs for $8 so got some of those too.. Went to reduced to clear. Cos last time Dianne and I were there I got a bang of Bongo's. Which if any of you remember Chicka dees, then you will like these.. they are the shape of cheezels but are chicken flavoured. Very yummy and brings back happy memories. I brought a plant.. Crackerjacks had Peace lillies, very healthy looking plants for $10. And got a bright red pot for it. I need to stop spending money now.. lol It was hosing down when I came out from the warehouse. A very kind lady with an Umbrella came over and covered us both while I put the crates in the Boot. It absolutely bucketed down. Was very nice of her. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 31-05-2025 Well done,Popeye! Excellent bargain scoring. And what a kind woman; I hope she has a brilliant day. Managed a little bit in garden, gradually clearing those buttercups but likely to take ages. I wished that for her. She was lovely and probably got wet as much as I did. But it was a nice Smile on a moody day weatherwise. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-05-2025 oh wow, OHH, I'm sure you will all have an awesome time. Do they have time to leave Auckland for other spots? Maybe we could all help with ideas. Great shopping, popeye ![]() Today has been busy. I found two pieces of hydrangea growing nicely so have dug them out and potted them along with three cuttings. Hopefully one cutting at least will strike. Cleared more stuff away from the side of the house, there is only a pile of sand to finish moving and some tiles we plan to have put down in the porch left. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() That's frustrating about the vacuum, mica. I really miss my old vacuum cleaner. Nothing in particular planned for the day, we'll take it as it comes. There are a few more outside jobs I've saved for winter to be done but they can be picked away at over time. Might just have a cruisey day at home and leave the roads for the long weekenders. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 01-06-2025 Morning all Fine Good Briscoes score Popeye Having a lazy start still tucked up been reading. Nothing much on agenda today will clean filters, do load washing. DH off to look after DD k9 while they do overnight tramp intoTarauas . I think I will look at my merino stash with view to making a new top Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-06-2025 Took my TM score purple coat for an outing yesterday, to top up the vegies before the New World delivery, and it was lovely and warm, especially with the collar turned up. Across from the library, right on the pedestrian crossing, there is an Annah Stretton shop, and she has the most outrageous digitally printed florals among her range. And a birthday sale. I rarely buy new, being a dedicated recycler by inclination, but those florals have been tempting me for a while... So, me and my purple coat went in and found ourselves a long cotton scarf with all the colours I often wear, label price $69, but sale discount at the till made it $39. There goes the proceeds of today's TM sale, lol... But hey, a bit of spoiling is good for the soul. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-06-2025 I see Anna Stretton advertising on FB, I think they are a Morrinsville family ![]() Mica, I saw in your earlier post you are looking at another dog. ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-06-2025 My Canadienne friend just sent me this... https://www.instagram.com/p/DKUo7jgRV8_/ RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-06-2025 Morning everyone. Fine here too. Madam is soaking up the sun in our bedroom. I agree one needs spoils. And Ive certainly been doing that. But Ive also been working too. I must get one of mt winter coats out when it gets cold enough. I do have scarves and wraps too... I gave a big bag of hand knitted hats and scarves I made to the oppy, so hopefully Ill see some being worn around town. Have to nip up the road since I forgot to get the butter money yesterday oops.. But I want that out of the way cos it messes with my head owing people. It might only be $17 but I hate it. Might get a small bag of potting mix too to repot the Peace lily. Need to look at my yates book and see how to look after it.. And Yes I will repot it outside. Potting Mix is a killer to humans. Ill plant the other passionfruit vine too. But I have some thinish rope Ill make a trellis for both of them to grow and wander on. The odd thing about this house is there are no windows on the East side. Which in one way is good. The bedroom and lounge wont get over hot, but all the fruit trees are on that side of the house, So I cant see them from inside. Then Maybe Ill start on putting my cabinets together.. Dianne and I were going to do that tomorrow, having both forgotten that its a public holiday and Paul will be home lol.. So we will see each other on Tuesday. Have an awesome day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 01-06-2025 Good morning. Lovely sunny morning. I'm back from a quick food shop ... nice and quiet unlike last Gold Card day when I obviously timed it badly! Ohh, a potential 4 legged baby in your house Mica? What breed? How exciting for the rest of us, lol! I like scarves as well ... every now and then I consider a cull from my collection but then walk away! Will consider a flower plant flower shop later ... timing it for least traffic congestion is a priority. A nice day to get outside again though. Coffee time. Enjoy the day. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-06-2025 I grow peace lilies in water, a glass vase with enough rain water to cover the roots, and a bit of liquid fertiliser. They bloom all through the warm months, and have huge leaves, and no pests. It is the easiest and simplest way to grow lots of indoor tropicals, pothos, philodrendrons, monstera, all love having their toes in water. Great way to propagate cuttings too! RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 01-06-2025 (29-05-2025, 08:27 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: ... I'm trying to pluck up the courage to get a tiny one on my wrist. We'll see... Several years ago I had a yen for a tattoo and I consulted an artist friend who is regarded as an expert on tattooing. His advice was: 1. It will feel like someone is holding a lit cigarette to your skin, and 2. If you do get a tattoo don't get a tiny one as small tats look like blemishes. Make it big enough to be distinguishable. On further contemplation I decided not to proceed. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-06-2025 I am thinking about DNR, so there is no argument or confusion about my wishes... But I am a wimp, so the thinking continues, lol! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-06-2025 ok, that description of having a tat has put me off as well lol. Love the instagram post, OHH lol. Imagine being covered in butterflies for real! That wind is freezing! There must be snow on Mt Ruapehu. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-06-2025 Ohh Mica do share re the four legged friend hunting. A friend grows plants in water too. Comes from her mother dying from inhaling Potting mix bugs. She was repotting some orchids, her fave flower, on Christmas Eve. Christmas day she didn't feel well, died on Boxing day. The warnings on the bags are NOT big enough. Are they hard to propagate into water Hunnie? The one I have is jam packed in the pot, so I went to the recycle center and got some free pots to put them in. Free. is good. Cos the red one I got doesn't have holes in for drainage. So it will be the "Saucer" Went in to see if they had any fencing staples in the tool part, but no, I did come out with a hurricane glass tho. Oddly I was dreaming about them last night. I figured I was meant to get it then lol. I was also planning through the night to use some rope I have , get the staples and put up some lines for the Passionfruit to climb on. Hopefully it will be fine tomorrow. Ill do the rope then. I've done enough walking in the last couple of days and my bones are moaning.. And I still need to rip the bed apart to add the electric blanket.. and remake it. I have wanted a tattoo for ages, when I turned 40 I was tossing up between a tattoo and a belly button piercing. Got the piercing, and wish now I had gone for the Tatt.. The piercing wore out, it was right at kitchen bench height. And now I dont even have a belly button. And now being on warfarin and aspirin, its just more trouble than its worth. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 01-06-2025 The newest addition arrived, a new great granddaughter who managed not to arrive on someone else's birthday so well done her. Ruihi, whch is Louise in Maori. Cold but sunny here, walk this morning was freezing but luckily Madame le Dog was again in a hurry. If things warm up I may have another bash at the dreaded weeding later. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-06-2025 Easy to transition plants into water, or from water into soil, the trick is to be gentle with the process. So take the plant out of the pot and pop it into a bucket, soil and all, and top up with water. After a few days drain the water and loose wet soil onto the garden and rinse the rest of the potting soil off all the roots and put the plant into the vase you want to use, and fill, preferably with rain water, but tap will do. If your water is heavily chlorinated, full a container and let it stand for a few days so the chlorine off gases into the air and leaves the water safe for living things. And that's it. Transitioning from water into potting mix is just the reverse process. The trick is to not shock the plant, so the roots have a chance to adjust. I am a lazy gardener, water culture is perfect for me, because other than evaporation it needs very little attention. Just occasional feeding and topping up. Easy! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-06-2025 Wow Ok.. So how does one know what to feed them with? It will only be peace lillies, Well I say that, Im not sure if the String of hearts that are being grown for me will be soil or water.. Its the daughter of the lady that died from the potting mix. I Must ask her.. I do know they are cuttings off her Sisters plant. Jo grew it and gave it to Tania. Tania passed away nearly 2 years ago I think it was, so it was given back to Jo. So now we considered each other as Sisters she is growing me some plants from it. I will in the future give Dianne, Gayle and Erin some cuttings from it too. Ive never known Fanny to have any interest in plants etc. Gayle is the Nursery woman but Im still going to give her a plant. Congrats Lilith on the new Great grand girl Ruihi is Pretty. I Like my name in Maori. Huhana I think it is. Susan is the closest you can get. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-06-2025 Congratulations Lilith ![]() ![]() |
