It is a lovely name isn't it, have only seen photos so far but as far as I can tell, it suits her. Eldest granddaughter will take me to meet her some time this coming week, so something to look forward to.

I must have done something amazingly brilliant in a past life, to have all these brilliant grandkds & now great grandkids. Rolleyes

Managed to get more of those blardy buttercups out, but there are quite a lot so obviously likely to take some time, & the ground along that bit is still quite wet as well.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 01-06-2025

Got the bed dismantled and remade..

Had "help" with the tie on's, she nearly got put out of the room lol..

The bed is nice and warm now. Hope to have a peaceful sleep in there tonight.

Also got my glass items arranged. The Hurricane glass has a white candle in it. it doesn't look right, but some red ones will be with me this week from Temu. Must check their height.

I will attempt to make one of the cabinets tomorrow.

Been reading the instructions for the Happy Birthday Your old enough to play with your Pooh Test. Long time since I helped with MrPs lol. Exciting stuff lol.

Now if I had my new glasses id be snuggled up in bed reading.. The other test was for Peripheral vision.. Goodness knows why they couldn't do that at the same time.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 02-06-2025

morning ladies Smile We have another pea souper out there, can't even see across the road. Typical Waikato.

Those bl**dy buttercups are a PITA. Very persistent and spread by those damed runners. And they don't pull out easily either. You have my sympathy Lilith.

Our son informed us he will be coming home for a visit next year Heart We miss him terribly and it will be good to hug him again.

It looks like it's going to be an indoorsy day so could be a chance to get into a wardrobe and sort out more stuff for the op shop. We have a huge Sistema container chokka with Lego no one plays with. Am thinking maybe we should sell it, there will be someone out there who will love it. And there is a pile of books that could be donated to the book fair.

Speaking of Sistema, I see the founder of Sistema has been awarded a KNZM in the Kings Birthday Honours List. I've stopped buying the stuff as I hate the new way the lids clip on and off.

The morning is marching on, might make a start in the wardrobe while MrK is sleeping and can't 'supervise' lol. He's not as ruthless as me Tongue

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 02-06-2025

Good morning.

The blue sky has clouded over and it's cold.

Congratulations on the birth of your new GGD Lilith ... gorgeous name. Yes, I remember buttercups being the bane of my gardening life ... at least I didn't have oxalis (previous garden) as well!

I have boxes of lego also.  Will need to hang on to it for a bit longer, it gets played with occasionally still. The optimum time to sell it is before Xmas  ... it commands premium price then!

Nice to look forward to son visiting KM ... we are planning to meet up with DS and family down county some time in the next few months ... you do miss them.

Fun for you getting your new house just right Popeye. Missy sounds happy too.

Might try and get to Bunnings soonish for some plants ... before the busy-ness on the road!

Enjoy the day all.

Our library has a lego stash that gets well used. They called for donations, lol, but I suspect their dead book sales ended up paying for the stuff.

My late friend Ali's husband worked for The Warehouse for years and they became close friends with the Sistema guy. I remember her telling me what a great guy he was and one of those really good employers who looked after his people really well. Always nice to see someone make it and take others with them on that journey up the ladder.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 02-06-2025

Morning everyone

Woah chilly this morning but clear as a bell out.

Oh it was nice to sleep in a nice warm bed. But was very creaky this morning... In fact call out pain when I tried to move.. but its mending.. I dont want to give in this time. Madam discovered the bed was warm lol..

I need to pop into the oppy and see if they have another touch lamp for the hall. I like a low light on to sleep, but dont want to move the one in the lounge, yet. So I put the hall light on and shut the door a bit. I dont like closed off rooms to sleep in. Of course the Oppie had half price on the electrical on Saturday lol.

Since it is fine I will dig out the rope, pretty sure I know where that is. And go out and try and make a nice rope fence for the passionfruit plants. And plant the second plant. It wont be pretty but should work.

Then if I have any puff left Ill start on one of the cabinets.. Looking forward to that.

One must take more notice when buying things online.. The candles I ordered are not very tall. Not big enough for the hurricane lamp anyway. So Ill buy one at the $2 type shops on Wednesday when I go to Housie.

They will be good for my Bamboo look white dishes tho. So that gives me another option for the coffee table.

I hadn't realized how much I like pretty things, matching things and My things. I guess so many years of making MrP happy, is catching up with me.

I was thinking yesterday, its funny how I buy stuff I like for other people. The Hurricane lamp being one. I got our first landlords up here one for their new place in Australia. That was ohh 10 years ago maybe.. Now I finally have one myself lol.

I agree with Roma, Kiwimade.. take some time and wash the Lego well. And save it for before Christmas, an ex friend used to buy and sell Lego and she made a pretty penny from it.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 02-06-2025

It’s been a beautiful day in the Bay wind has finally dropped - was too windy to peg the washing out just kept twisting round the line
Good to hear your son is planning a visit Kiwimade - I am pretty sure my lawyer grandaughter is going to head off - she has promised her young brothers she will come home next weekend and sleep out in their shack they have built in their new bush - she is 14 years older than them - they watch a program called Alone and have copied one of the participants bush residences - I think my grandaughter might regret her acceptance of their very kind invitation
Both my kids have entered their second childhood and are building Lego again -Robie has just finished Americas cup yatch - it’s stunning - evidently Lego is the new office adornment
The clothes we had donated are going down a treat - they are made in India so maybe that’s why they are so long - Indian ladies must be taller and it explains all the embroidery
My power bill is up as expected - useage is down but I am not surprised - all our food manufacturers and retailers also took another hit - like we lost our low user rebates they lost their prompt payment discounts and this is the last of their 5 year jumps but it’s a good one One of the bulbs has blown in my bathroom light/fan thing and wouldn’t you know it - odd size - these out of know where expenses seem to be getting more and more expensive everytime .Will be tightening the belt - I know the kids would help but if I can I like to be independent
Yogurt and kiwi fruit for dinner

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 03-06-2025

Good morning everyone

A tad chilly after a few days of not needing the heating on.

Had to get up to make sure the gate was unlocked for the mower man.. Don't want to hear his grumpy voice again. And Im certainly not giving him a key.

Sitting here eating not so sweet creamed rice. I forgot the sugar obviously. It isn't too bad lol..

David finally came and got his stuff from the spare room. I have a little to restack as I had to dive deep to get the rope yesterday.. Sent him away with a picture I had. That I dont recall having on the wall at the last house. And gave him heaps of sheets and towels for the Dogs.. I had enough for 5 beds at one stage. So they are thinned down to two.

I started to put together one of the cabinets.. Once you understand the pictures, which could have been printed darker, and understand that their heads work differently I got used to it. 28 pieces per cabinet lol...

Dianne is coming in today so we will finish them between us. And have fun at the same time. Our brains work the same way.

Got the rope fence put up for the passionfruit. Planted the second plant. Repotted the Peace Lily, although I could have done it better. The poor thing was bubbling the container it was in. I had to cut it off.

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 03-06-2025

morning ladies Smile The fog is finally lifting. It's a weird day, fog, then drizzle, then sun - rinse and repeat.

The lawn people are here as it is meant to rain over the next few days. I will admit they do a great job and saves me time I can spend elsewhere.

Groceries are done and dusted Big Grin It's not cheap to eat that's for sure. Am very glad we have a vegie garden.

MrK needs a blood test so that will be done today or tomorrow.

Yesterday there was a two car collision at the Matamata/SH29 intersection taking out two power poles. Seems to be a regular thing now. At least this time it wasn't our power that went out. My friend and her partner stopped to help and stop traffic, and she said people were still trying to drive over the live wires on the road! Idiots.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-06-2025

We had dramas last night. Weird rumbling noises loud enough to drown out the last episode of The Mandalorian (I do love Star Wars), so me in my jammies went walk about to source the rumbling. It was very mild out surprisingly, but I did find the beast - the generator truck from Watercare with suitably dressed guys delving into a big manhole in the dark further down the walkway that borders our village. Such things are likely to be stinky so I was glad to be upwind, and curiosity satisfied I ambled back to my flat, and returned to the delights of Pedro Pascal.

We often forget the real heroes who work to keep our community going. In the dark, and the stinky. Thank goodness for them. And Pedro Pascal...

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-06-2025

Stripped the bed, turned the mattress, fluffed the feathers into temporary evenness, laundered, and while the dryer did the work, I set up the new strawberry bed and transplanted two dozen plants, ready for a winter chilling. Two dozen good strong plants, from last years four potted beauties. That was a good investment which I shall baby along with lots of seaweed sloshes just as the folks at Tui keep haranging me about on farcebook.

Must find nice straw type mulch for these babies, though maybe I could make my own from the new crop of autumn leaves accumulating on my deck...

Waste not, want not.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 03-06-2025

Have had an awesome day wit Dianne.. We always have fun.

Got both the cabinets made and have put them in place, on an angle. It kind of makes the wall look curved. We are swapping on of my original book cases. The two I have look the same but there is a slight difference on the sides. and mine are two different height. Dianne has two that match one of mine. Hers are in two different rooms, so it wont matter if hers are odd sizes.

We talk about everything and anything, but oddly while talking about gay people, we made a mistake on the top shelf But we figured it out. We both know of gay [people who were in heterosexual couples first then went the other way.
The random stuff we discuss lol. She brought some photos in she had come across, OMG her Mum looked like Her Mum. Certainly didn't need to ask which side of the family That grandmother came from.

We work the same way, even in the same time for screwing in screws etc. Its never a race, we just work at the same speed lol.

Someone was giving away strawberry plant's here too. I never thought to ask Di if she wanted any.

Agree Hunnie some worker's have really shitty jobs.

Going to watch the new hospital show on TV one tonight. Its been made at Middlemore. about the Young Drs there.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-06-2025

morning ladies Smile We're in for a doozy of a storm today Big Grin

It's good to have someone to share the laughs with, popeye. Sounds like you are settling into your new home quickly.

For once I've beaten the blackbird up lol. He's only announcing his presence now.

Big thumbs up for those that do the night shift and the iccky jobs for the community. We couldn't function without them.

Pedro Pascal... can't imagine anyone else being the Mandalorian. It's the voice...

Yesterday I weighed the Lego at the vet clinic and was stunned to see the box weighed 5.7kilos. I knew we had a 'bit of Lego' but this is nuts lol. I'll take pics and advertise it today along with a couple of other things we no longer use or need. It will certainly make a nice space in the wardrobe if it sells. If it doesn't sell now, I'll leave it until closer to Christmas as suggested.

The Furry One has decided it is time to do the 'garden rounds'. Might take the vegie knife with me and pick vegies for dinner at the same time. Knowing my luck, it will be bucketing down around dinner time lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-06-2025

And last night, I get a text from Facilities Management giving me twelve hours notice that a sparky (probably at 8am knowing tradie timing) will visit today - coffee and cake day, sob - to check out the remaining work needed on the cylinder. Oh well, I really need more discipline about getting up early on cool wet drizzly days especially when scooting is off the agenda anyway.

I will be so glad when this bloody thing is fixed.

I like my lazy mornings, lol...

Still, I got a bit carried away last night, driven by my sweet tooth to make a batch of chocky chip bikkies. So as a reward for good behaviour I shall have two with my coffee. When he's gone.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 04-06-2025

Morning everyone

5am wake up with Madam being sick. Thankfully on the towel I have that covers the weighted blanket. I must have opened the bikkie container in my sleep cos I dont remember doing it.

It was 6 weeks yesterday since I moved in. And Im pretty much sorted. Although I may get one of Di's bookcases without swapping and put the lightly shorter one in the kitchen at the end of the bench.

That will wait until after her surgery and she is feeling better.

Off to Bingo this morning if I rattle me daggs as they say. Have to pick up my pills and get a couple of rubbish bags too. Hopefully on the way, incase its raining later.

Have a good day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 04-06-2025

Good morning.

Cold and wet ... an inside day.

I agree, what would we do without those who are on the front line ... demanding, often thankless work.

Here's hoping your hot water is sorted OHH. Sometimes  I wish we had solar power, we certainly get enough sun where I live!

Doll clothes to finish off and sew up today. We are going over the hill for a family lunch at the weekend so can deliver then.

First need a visit to the library for a new supply. Last book I read "the Lotus Shoes" was excellent.

I planted leeks and replacement kale yesterday and have an assortment of flower seedlings to place into pots ... hopefully between showers.

Time to move.

Stay warm and dry.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 04-06-2025

Morning all
Raining not that cold

OHH hope Sparky arrived and sorted out your hot water

Roma been looking for more books at library will look for copy on your recommendation

Been to gym, need to hit shower , have podiatrist  appointment this morning. Not sure what I will do this afternoon might make cot quilt. Looked to see if therexwere any movies that grab my interest but no.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 04-06-2025

The movies on Netflix et al seem to be mostly reruns lately. TVNZ+ have a good supply of British dramas, there's a new one, 'Fear' we plan to watch.
