Pity some sort of alarm system couldn't be rigged up to warn us when they start leaking. And yes, they should be getting onto these things quicker. Nothing specific planned for the day. I will admit it is great to be able to stay at home on grotty days. Might do a bit of housework. Then again, I might not. ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 06-06-2025 Morning all Overcast haven't stepped outdoors yet but metservice says its currently 6 degrees expecting high 13. Off to PN this morning to collect overlocker Dinner at friends house tonight Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 06-06-2025 Good morning. Cold and wet ... the temperature is dropping. So annoying with the cylinder OHH ... and frustrating. My power bill wasn't quite as high as Olive's but bad enough! It will only get worse. I'm glad to leave living on a SH behind ... it makes you realise being on the road is like playing Russian Roulette! Need to get groceries soon then hunker down for the coming cold weather. Soup on the go tomorrow. Will do some baking for family visit. Stay warm and dry all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-06-2025 Roma, there is a new plan for our road all dependent upon funding of course and the government at the time. SH29 will go from Tauriko directly to Hamilton bypassing our SH29. And our road will no longer be a highway, just a regular road. It should take all or most of that heavy traffic away. And the new SH29 will be like the Waikato Expressway and tolled. It will be fantastic if it happens, but we'll see. We live in hope! RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-06-2025 Just got the weekly report from Mercury, predicted bill $135 which doesn't include the variables so should be up around $185 going on the last horror story. There go all the winter energy boosts for this year so far. And all so avoidable, grrrrrr... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-06-2025 Morning everyone Tad chilly this morning, but its been worse. But its a damp clear out there. I hear cars in the morning now that I sleep in my bedroom. Madam tries to tell me if they are up, we should be .. Nope Not on my watch lol. Im going to clean the bathroom, and then unload the coffee table of the books, and Move that sucker to swap the mats over. Will Vacc while Im at it. Dianne's Surgery today so My mind will be with her. She was saying she really missed Mum at the mo. She would have held Di's hand and made sure she knew she was safe and will get through. I told her Mum is watching over her and will be there with her. We were saying this years surgeries for both of us, aren't quite as scary cos we both know what to expect. But for her she has the chemo etc after it. Mine will be hoping I dont end up in the mess I was last time. But we will support each other. Have a fab day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 06-06-2025 Just posted the Friday Funny. The Rusell Howard sketch is based on fact & one oif the funnist ones I've ever seen. Freezing here, frost this morning. Took Madame le Dog for an early walk as I'd intended to venture out after lunch but the cold has put me off that idea. Next week, perhaps. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 06-06-2025 Quick trip today coffee in PN, rondaveau one hour earlier than arranged. Sewing machine tech then told me he was on his way to Manawatu woollen mills and did I know they had outlet shop . Since Dh on hunt for jerseys off we went He scored lovely gray merino possum jersey for $99 Native world brand. We still stopped off at knitwear factory shop in Levin he purchased another 2 merino jerseys guaranteed non pill I found a nice navy longline merino cardi. Thats my unexpectedctax return gobbled up While holding DH glasses noticed antiglare film degenerating how long has he noticed that??? A while for goodness sake he will be going to optometrist to get that sorted. Having a restful afternoon before we head out for dinner with friends so another trip north TG transmission gully and expressways have really reduced travel times. Balmy 9 degrees and the rain has arrived RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-06-2025 Wow its gone cold. freezing. The rain sounded lumpy but I didn't see any hail. The dryer is on for the first time. But I dont want damp washing hanging about in the kitchen for a day or two. I've put the heat pump on, to heck with the power bill RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-06-2025 Sun... Tatt and I are toasting our legs and watching Star Wars, while I knit a scarf from some of that grey merino possum. I'm thinking our local homeless guy might like it. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 06-06-2025 They're claiming 7 degreees out there - I wouldn't mind betting its a good deal colder than that. Was going to just do a toasted sandwich but changed my mind & dug out the veg sausage & veg casserole I froze a while ago & will do a couple of stuffed spuds to have with it. I was looking forward to toasted sandwhic too, dammit. Should warm things up a bit, though. Apparently snowing further south....I may have to break the two hours of heater rule tonight. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-06-2025 Popped out to the garage and omg it's freezing out there! There must be snow 'down the line', it has that feel to it. I used the drier today, same attitude as you, popeye. Buggar it! I hate having wet washing hanging inside, it makes the house feel damp and harder to warm up. Heat pump is back on, don't want MrK getting sick. I think the homeless guy will love a merino-possum scarf, OHH. It must be freezing this time of the year and warm, sheltered places are hard to come by. Our next trip into town will include dropping off the dishwashing liquid bottles to the food bank. They put a request on the community page for some as they buy the liquid in bulk and fill empty bottles. Now we have somewhere to recycle our empty bottles so a win-win for everyone. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 06-06-2025 It is a good excuse just to knit, and try a new knit purl pattern... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-06-2025 I'm sure he will love it Hunnie. The hardest part about my dryer is the heat cannot get into the house unless I open the door. And then front door of the garage certainly isn't windproof. I talked to contact energy to see if they can find my May account which I dont have. She said its cos of moving. But I told her I need to know cos I dont like surprises or shocks. oddly I got the "How did we do" text before I even had the call back lol.. Need to go put my chicken on.. I Love the Louisiana chicken pieces that Tegal Does. And I've discovered that our reduced to clear has it at 2/3rds the price of Pak n Save who was the cheapest to get it. And I've started eating drumstick's cos I cant afford to waste them. Never ate them as a kid. The Brothers got the thigh and drum, my mother and I had breast and wing. So I never learnt to enjoy them. But I cook them and put them in a sandwich. Stay warm everyone RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 07-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() Nothing much planned again, we don't go far with MrK's hip the way it is. And it's too cold to be in the garden. I'm glad the garden is 'winter ready', only the roses to prune next month and a few weeds to pull on a warmer day. Yesterday a truck spilled tallow on the Kaimai Ranges causing all sorts of havoc. Trucks had to be towed to the top as they couldn't grip the road. I've almost reached the end of the hardanger, a few more days should do it. I'm going to start looking for some older jewelry I can break down to use in my next embroidery piece. The op shops may have what I'm looking for and it will be fun to hunt them out. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 07-06-2025 Morning all Windy balmy 8 degrees with high of 11 expected Always good to see the end in sight KM Had lovely dinner with our friends last night late night for us didn't get home until 11pm driving at night in the rain not the easiest and still people exceed the speed limit. I put the car on cruise control for 100 because there is lead in my foot and the car is sneaky she likes to go fast ![]() Stay at home indoors day today. Tge feline has ventured out but didn't stay long Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 07-06-2025 There is blue out there, and the wax eyes are feasting on the apple I put into the whisk on the peach tree, first one of the season. I noticed a few of them buzzing around the bare branches yesterday (boy I mutilated that poor tree this year!) so I guessed they would rather enjoy one of my little Ambrosias. That is a very sweet apple that goes really well with a sharp cheese, and I was right, they like it as much as I do. Minus the cheese. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-06-2025 Morning everyone Tis cold for sure... I have my winter dressing gown on and a hottie on my legs lol. Glad you can see the end Kiwimade. This project has taken a while with so much gardening, your health and MrKs health too hasn't it. I spoke to Dianne last night. She was comfortable. They didn't need to take her lymph nodes, which is good news. But they plan on doing a full body scan for her. she is worried about the chemo and radiation, but we will get her through.. Her Hubby and son were with her which was wonderful. and she spoke to the Grandies for a wee while. She hopes to be home later today. Wow the Bowel screening doesn't take long. Im negative which is also wonderful, considering my older brother had it. I only took it in Mid morning on Thursday. Woke up super sore this morning.. and as I dont have any other plans I fully intend to sit and paint and not do much else. If I do get a burst of energy I might spread the shelved wall out. I do still have a few things that can go on there and I can put the diamond painting spares in the drawers. Stay warm and dry everyone Have a good day RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 07-06-2025 Good morning. The sun is shining in nicely now ... a cold start! Lol OHH, I'm sure the waxeyes wouldn't have said no to the addition of cheese! I agree the Ambrosia is a yummy apple. KM the "proposed" new HW would be great ... we shall see if it ever eventuates being that it is off/on between governments! Lol Mica, gone are the days when the night was just getting going at 11pm ![]() Vege soup is on the go ... smells delicious. I shall make some savouries to take for lunch tomorrow. It is looking like a nice day so shall get outside later. Nearly coffee time already. Enjoy the day all. |
