RE: You can never have enough... - Jan - 07-06-2025 Freezing in the bay this morning but AC is on full .I sent an email yesterday claiming my $110 power credit which is something to do with the low user rebates we lost .Consumer in April advised that this govt had extended the date to 2032 - it was supposed to finish this year - well what a nice surprise the amount is now $200 - so it’s paid this month and 50% of next month - consumer didn’t say the amount had gone up but my account has definitely been credited just as the email said https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/110-available-from-power-companies-as-low-user-charge-goes-up-again If it was money coming from Winz I wouldn’t claim it but the power companies which I know we own 52% of can afford to pay me a bit back Robie received a formal warning from the grocery commission as one of his customers has made a formal complaint - it was a sealed bag not out of pick and mix https://www.trademe.co.nz/MyTradeMe/UploadPhotoDone.aspx?uploaded=true&photo=2218459829 RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 08-06-2025 Morning all Still tucked up but DH says its nippy outside Another indoors day Didn't feelgreat yesterday so took it easy, tried gluten free weetbix biscuit recipe they turned good nice crunchie made a big batch so will last a while. Started to sew up the 12 tote bags that I cut out on Wednesday will finish those off today Housework chores after breakfast. Been thinking about knitting me a scarf shawl will ponder on that might do a test havexsome 5 ply navy merino possum that might fit the bill Enjoy your day and keep warm RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() Thanks for the link, Jan ![]() A navy scarf shawl sounds lovely, mica. Especially if done in a lacy stitch. Funny how our cars like to go fast, isn't it lol. Ours is the same ![]() MrK decided to give up driving and didn't renew his license. A sad day for him but the right choice to make. Safe travels today, roma. The Kaimais will be icy this morning as you know. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 08-06-2025 Good morning. A winter's day but we have sun. Yes KM, I expect we will see the temperature plummet as we cross the "hill"! I am wearing a possum/merino zip cardi ... so warm and soft on a cold day. Good idea for that yarn Mica. Better get a move on to make a day of it. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-06-2025 I did a couple of big triangle scarf shawls a few years back, in the most gorgeous Malabrigo yarns, cream and blue stripes, and a cream with red version. They were completely plain knit, and so easy to do, the perfect winter evening project and very lovely to wear as well. A couple of the best things I have ever made. I really like that yarn, gorgeous feel and beautiful colours. It is a great pity I only need two! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-06-2025 Morning everyone Oops slept in. Probably cos I donned the hat last night. Which I pull down over my eyes, but not my nose.. Woke up sore tho dammit. Takes 30 mins or so to work out the creaks so I can move lol. Looks like it will be a beautiful day tho. Madam is sitting in the sun streaming in the bedroom window. I painted quite a lot yesterday. Really want to finish this picture..... When I first started diamond painting, 6 plus years ago there was a long thin picture of Four very goofy funny looking Ostrich heads. I always loved it, but I never managed to afford it. And I still wanted it after I had the poor gap.. I have it now, Im going to get it out today and "press" it so I can start it this week hopefully. I have some pretty scarves, but Im not really a fan of having stuff around my neck. I generally wear my hair up all year around... But I Love my wraps, And now its cool enough to start using them again. There are things that make Winter special in the clothes department. Have a lovely day everyone.. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-06-2025 Yup. Boots. With hand knitted socks inside them, lol... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-06-2025 (08-06-2025, 09:46 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Yup. Boots. With hand knitted socks inside them, lol... With my Kauri Stump legs boots just dont look good. Neither do normal shoes really. Ive lived in crocks for so long I just dont like having anything on the back of my feet. Fanny gave me two pairs of super light sneakers, but they feel odd. And top that off with I wear bare feet at home, slippers today tho... I drive with my bare right foot. Putting anything more than a slip on shoe annoys me. I have in the long past had one pair of boots I loved. But they totally got worn out. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-06-2025 One? That'd be deprivation in this house. I love my boots. Collection. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 08-06-2025 I have my favourite pair of boots, bought from TM years ago, which have been re soled & recently had replacement zips put in so with luck they'll see me out. They're so somfortable I tend to wear them constantly. Really cold here again. Was out earlier to meet latest great granddaughter - who's absolutetly gorgeous. Her big brother was out with dad till just before we came home so got to see him as well, & of course he's grown. Time goes so fast, he'll be two later this year. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() Lovely, Lilith ![]() Not a lot happening today, I need to go out for a bit later and you can bet it will be bucketing down then. And if the Furry One wants to do the garden 'rounds' this morning, he's on his own. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-06-2025 Ahhh, that is why most of my collection are lace and zip style, so I can adjust for the fat fused one, but only a good eye can spot the difference. Not so easy to disguise in summer sandals, especially now most of the calf muscles have reorganised themselves so I only have one normal length and shapely leg, lol. Best foot forward as they say, but hey, I'm still walking for as long as that short one does the job! Huge rolling thunder this morning, just before dawn, really really big noise, must've been right overhead because the lightning was almost synchronised. And the rain that followed was a bit of a let down, hardly merited such enormous booming. For a moment I wondered if Rangitoto had woken up, I suspect the announcement would be similar. China rattling vibrations too. Way too much energy loose out there this morning, when all I want to do is snooze on. Got a text last night from Keely at Facilities Management to tell me the plumber will replace my cylindar today, so I was up at the crack, showering and filling the sink after turning the switch off, so at least it will be cooler to drain. Got my power bill last night too, $150 something so it will be interesting to see how far that drops with the next one. I would like to keep that and my broadband altogether under two hundred a month but we will see. Might happen if I am not tempted into a bit of heat pumping on these chilly nights. I want to check out the back wall of that cupboard too, to make sure the leak hasn't penetrated the bathroom wall behind. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 09-06-2025 Good morning. Sunny now that the heavy downpour earlier is out of the way, fortunately stopped just before school walk/drop off. I imagine there will be snow further down the line with the chill factor out there. Relaxing day with the family yesterday. Our GC are getting older so it's nice to see my sibling crop of GC appearing. 2 littlies and 2 on the way ![]() No plan today but will need to decide on next knitting project ... definitely need something on the go at this time of year! Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-06-2025 The cylinder saga continues. I started emptying the cupboard, and the one above it, where I store all my out of season stuff, and the precious pieces I rarely use. And discovered a disaster. The plumber said the leak was from the top of the tank, but it isn't. It is from the top of the pipe. So all the water that has been venting has been dripping down through all that stuff, including my two beautiful handstitched Amish quilts that I bought in America from the wonen who made them, and which are some of my most prized possessions. And the silk kimono my Mum made when I was carrying Rose, my wedding dress ditto (without the preggy belly, lol), and all the table linen she hand embroidered for herself and for me. All damp and water marked and stinking. And the woolies, the heavy dressing gowns, the big bedspreads - one of them is too far gone, I'll have to ditch that one. My rage is wearing off a bit now, which is a good thing, because I have summoned the community manager, and we are going to have a conversation about compensation. And the two washers and dryers will be working overtime today. Just as well those are Haumaru provided, so no added costs there. Just the work... And of course it is pissing down outside. Well, it would be, lol... Oh! And yes, there is mould. Not a lot, but its there. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 09-06-2025 Morning all Raining very cold 7 degrees currently outdoors snug indoors ![]() Only got pair ankle boots now seem to live in trousers. Set my spring snaps in my duponi silk anorak yesterday no hiccups TG I am pleased with how the garment as turned out. Have some nice pink duponi silk in the stash that is calling to ve made into a jean jacket but I will save that for warmer weather. A lovely piece of aqua wool crepe is next in queue it needs to be washed . Off up coast to meet with couple women I was on committee with sometime ago it will be nice to catch up with them this morning. Quilt guild tonight it will be hard to get out of my comfy chair to go out into cold dark night but needcto go to collect 10 cot quilts that have been made for Nest collective. Keep warm and dry RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-06-2025 Morning everyone I dont think its as cold as the last couple pf days but I have layers on. Woke up just after 4am and could barely move. Cos I keep my bottle in a basket on the bed with glasses etc I managed to take some Panadol . Waited about half an hour to see if they would kick in, but they didn't. And of course, I didn't take the walker to my room last night. So it took 15ish minutes to get from my bed to the kitchen hanging on to the walls. Got the walker and went into the lounge to the chair. Its the worst it has ever been. I took a codeine. Ill phone the drs soon, it needs to have a photo taken to see what is happening in the Bermuda Triangle as I call it. If Im sitting there crying in pain, its bad. I nearly used my alarm, but that would have meant getting to the front door to take the chain off.. Need to leave that off I think. The ortho man did tell me 20 years ago that my back is 20 years older than the rest of me. So It must be rocking at 80 now. But its my hips too. Blardy bodies. Wish we could have one, without all the bits we can actually live without from the word go. Spoke to Dianne yesterday. She is home, and Roxy ( Big null Mastiff cross bulldog) was happy to see her. Paul and her son are looking after her well. It takes two weeks to Grow stuff to figure out what chemo and radiation she will need. She is worried about her hair. Like me its the part she likes the most about herself.. I dont have a lot but I like to keep mine long. Think if the body is behaving Ill go to Pukekohe and get her a nice black hat with one of those fluffy pom poms, just in case. She wears lot of black but her shirts always have pictures on. And she has some beautiful ones. Will paint today. I have so many cool ones to do, I need to get this one finished. Its an older lady with a cat on her knee and crocs on her feet.. Typically me. lol. Ohh I did have a pair of boots when I was at Primary school. they had the hooks on.. They reminded me of the ones in the movie Sybal, Sybil? With Oh the one who played the Flying Nun. Sally Field.. Ohh Hunnie that totally sucks abo9ut your beautiful Pretties being damaged.. Push them hard, they should have checked the leak weeks ago. Have a good day everyone. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-06-2025 If you can take them considering your other meds, anti inflammatories might help popeye. If not the celebrex kind then there are others less often prescribed. Your doc will know. Without them I am in trouble, even after all the replacements... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-06-2025 (09-06-2025, 10:20 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: If you can take them considering your other meds, anti inflammatories might help popeye. If not the celebrex kind then there are others less often prescribed. Your doc will know. Sadly not Hunnie.. With the Warfarin. Wasn't even meant to have the cortisone in my knee but I had it twice. Im not even meant to have fish oil, which I think is dumb.. but I said I was taking it before and during my recovery. I would rather dose to my diet and meds, than live on nothing just to keep the INR level. So long as you dont make sudden changes and test frequently anything should be possible.. I need to find my something and chondroitin, other name wont come to me.. That will mess it up for a little while. I do sleep when in the bed, but I dread waking up. Madam came with me this morning and sat in my arms on my chest. She knows when her Mama is sore. And knows how to calm me. lol RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 09-06-2025 (09-06-2025, 09:21 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: The cylinder saga continues. Oh, what an absolute bugger - it would have to be the most prized things, wouldn't it! Hope most can be saved/repaired, & if not then properly compensated. Freezing again & raining as well - it must be cold, as Madame le cat came inside voluntarily & nicked Madame le Dog's chair by the simple method of joining her on it...lasted all of ten minutes till Madame le dog retired to bed. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-06-2025 Ohhh no, OHH, that is heartbreaking. Fingers crossed you can save most of it. It may be easier to use a local luandamat. They have bigger machines. MrK can take celebrix, popeye and he's on warfarin. |
