RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 17-06-2025

I'd be interested in learning how to make butter as well but Pak n Save have Rolling Meadow butter for $8-somthing, pretty much the price of a liter of cream.

What a nightmare up at Waikato. All car parks full. Thought oh well, I'll get groceries and come back. Still full second time round. Coming down one of the ramps at the car park a nicely dressed woman in her eighties driving a nice car was in the middle and taking both 'lanes'. I couldn't drive around her as there wasn't room so asked her if she could just keep going up and then I could get through along with all the others behind me. She looked at me and said 'F**k you!' I was stunned, then pointed out that she was taking up all the space, flipped her the bird and wound my window up lol. Oh, to be that age and cranky. It was so unexpected lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - Olive - 17-06-2025

A litre of the cheapest cream (Pam's) will cost $8.75 and will give you about 400g of butter, so while buttermaklng is a nice pastime it isn't going to save you much cash.   500g of cheap butter (Pam's) costs $8.49.

RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 17-06-2025

Quite glad I no longer use butter.

Cold again, though the sun comes out now & then.

Did dreaded groceries earlier & then had another go at that blasted ivy. If we can have a few more days with no rain I may even get more weeding done but just too wet out there now.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 17-06-2025

Do let us know Hunnie.. Just the enjoyment of making it would be worth it.

Our Pak n Save hasn't had Pams butter for... 3-4 weeks now. But has Rolling meadow at the Pams price.

I found another pound of butter so I have 7 lol.

Well the dryer is moved.. I slid it where I could. As in down from the shelf it was on, and up to be on the desk. I thought I was pretty clever. Wasn't so much the weight but the size. I have cleared the shelves it was on and those near it so I can start moving crates into there over the weekend.

The battery on my phone is dying. It doesn't like being charged up unless its on a plug all of its own but now even having a hissy at that. I've had a symbol on the screen for a while saying the battery is dying.. So so long as I can get it charged enough to last me until Thursday I will get a new one while in town.

I need to upload all my photos onto the lappy. So I dont lose important ones.

Thank god I have savings lol..

Last week I thought I brought Gala apples. Turns out they are Fuji? Boy they are yummy, and sooo juicy.. I dont recall having them before.

Finished my picture today YAYAY... It took wayy too long which is why I was over it.

Right now I need to window shop and see who has a good deal.. And who does price matching.

Nope, she's not improving. Still very loving, but the minute she tries to move she's in trouble. Vet tomorrow methinks...

Just as well the forecast is for sun, sun, and more sun...

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-06-2025

And we wake up to sea fog... Chilly, with limited vision, lovely Auckland winter morning. Early coffee required.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 18-06-2025

Morning all
Still tucked up having cuppa in bed. DH says clear skies and nippy. We have been lucky with the beautiful sunny days all be it with winter chill.

Met the  available k9 and he approved us he is very sweetb7 year old. He needs to be neutered so will come and collect him in months time. We will need to reassign his name as it  sounds very close to our DS name lol

Out walking yesterday came across local quilt shop so some fabric is coming home with me. Will make couple baby quilts.

Will get up soon then we can hit the road

Hope your feline  is OK OHH.

Enjoy your day

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 18-06-2025

Morning everyone

Shes nippy this morning. But Sunny. The Sentinel is in her position in my room.

Hope all goes well at the vets Hunnie..

Ohh Mica so pleased you found a new k9. And thank you for taking on an older dog. So many want cute puppies then give up on them when older.

When Im up and sorted Ill start moving some crates.. Do a few a day using the trolley and it will be done.. Will put all the Christmas stuff out to start with.

Harvey norman has my same phone, more modern version $50 cheaper than other shops. But they also have laptops on special too which is something I will need soon as Im still working on windows 10 and theres so much I already cant do. And they are $50 off plus you get a $50 gift card.

So Im thinking Buy the lappy, then use the gift card on the phone making its $100 cheaper.

That way I then save and have no unexpected crap outs.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Maybe worth trying a natural remedy for puss. I sent this to my sister for her aged golden retriever/border collie who was really struggling with stairs and general mobility and despite her nursing distrust of homeopathics she was very impressed with the results and is considering spraying some on my BIL's muesli  Wink  The result is almost immediate so you'll quickly know if it works.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-06-2025

Well, we got to the vets okay, and they are sufficiently concerned to keep her in, sedate her, give her some pain relief and run some spinal and pelvic xrays. So, not my imagination, that leg has muscle wastage and she refused one of their treat sachets, so something is up.

If there is a permanent disability it may come down to long term issues, in which case hard decisions might need to be faced up to. I am not good at that stuff, especially with her being such a treasure. But we shall see.

I got extra wine in case, lol. And a box of tissues. Fingers crossed.

That biopet stuff looks interesting, thank you!

Mine are crossed too Hunnie.

I have moved 12 plastic crates and the aids for the shower etc. And two upright fans that I will give away.

The spare room looks like a bomb went off, but that will change.  I have empty crates that Ill transfer boxed stuff into and move down too.

I put my crochet banket on my bed.. It looks sooo good. And Im ready to let Madam drop her fur on it lol.

Will do my games then Ill kit down the last picture and kit up for my Ostriches..

I was lucky, my nephew went to Costco a couple of weeks ago a got a box of butter for his Mum and I to split. It was $9 a kilo so $4.50 for 500 gms. I cut the blocks in half and they are all in the freezer.
I bake constantly, so this was a great bonus.
Good luck with the butter making.

I don't use butter now but wish they'd open a costco down here. There's a new lot of shops going up down by Bunnings so we'll see.

Ohh bugger, hope all goes well. Its always awful when they get towards the end of their lives & problems crop up.

Loveley that you found a dog Mica, hope he's a good fit for your family.

Was out earlier, over to Eastgate to Lincraft to get some cushion inners. There was a short wait while another customer was being srved & I noticed hand held sewing machine thingys. There were only two left & only $20 so on impulse got one & will have a go when I get time.
I'm reading Boy swallows universe, which isn't really like anything else I've read & probably not to everyone's taste but I'm finding it really very hard to put down, & I almost missed the bus because I had my nose in it

Will post a  review in What are you reading if I find one.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 18-06-2025

Well, if you have ever seen a cat stoned on morphine, it is a sight to behold. Huge black eyes, lol. Without expensive imaging, all they can tell me is she has some bone spurs that might indicate injury to her lower spine and tail bones and might be impinging on her nerves in the area. Very like sciatic nerve pain according to the senior vet who reviewed the xrays. Long term anti inflammatories, to be reviewed, but no surgical intervention necessary. With the morphine on board she is walking normally, and has demolished two sachets of her preferred wet food, and is head bumping all her favourite things, like my canister of pens and the legs of furniture. And me.

Apparently the daily med is so tasty - and in liquid form, that cats have been known to beg for more. Uh huh. We'll see...

That'll be $538 thank you very much. Uh huh, here's $250, pay day is in two more weeks, lol. Lovely when the vets know I'm good for it!!

Cant say Ive seen a stoned cat...

But I have a Boxer Puppy who was definitely not in control of her legs. It was a laugh and a half.. She had been drugged for her flight from the South island to North.

So pleased they have sort of figured out what is going on..

My Madam is curled up on my legs with the hottie under the blanket.. I doo Love winter when it means lots of snuggles. But Im no fool, I know she just wants to steel my warmth lol

I have 9 places to go to tomorrow... Ill have to do some before I get my glasses and some afterwards.. Have to put x-rays in the queue as well.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 19-06-2025

Red in the morning, shepherd's warning. Have to scoot a fast trip to the shops this morning to get cat food now I know what's what with the furbeast, so will do that then catch up on some housework that slipped a bit during this months dramas. The kitchen floor in particular is desperately in need of a good scrub, so that has to be done, and maybe a bit more of the winter wardrobe sort out. Mundane things, but who knows what else will come along to amuse me. Stay dry everyone...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 19-06-2025

morning ladies Smile We have a frost, but I can't see it clearing with that cloud cover.

Amazing how our pets can take the same drugs as us. At least you know your options now, OHH, and Tatty Cat has pain relief. We all know how you feel when in pain, it must be the same for animals as well. The Furry One has been on epilepsy meds for eight years now so we know about long term meds and the costs.

I was in Hamilton again yesterday and this time managed to find a car park. We couldn't have an earlier appointment for MrK as there is only the one clinic being held next month. We will just have to bide our time and cross our fingers nothing happens to him before then. They did say he could present to ED BUT there were a lot of people with the flu and Covid. So that's a hard no, from us.

Today I'm changing the washer in a tap. MrK announced it was leaking, and he would show me how to fix it. Pretty sure I know how to do that but OK, show me anyway. The trick will be to find the replacement washers and may mean a trip to Mitre 10 after I have a hissy fit lol.

The lawnmower guy is coming today; the lawn has been growing like its spring. It's pretty wet underfoot and the other day there was squelching as I walked on it. Thank goodness for red bands Tongue

I might give hanging the washing outside a whirl today in spite of the cloud cover. If it dries or even half dries, that's a bonus.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 19-06-2025

Good morning everyone

Hope all is ok with Kiwimade..

Yes I was looking at my kitchen floor while my breakfast was heating.. Need to do that lol.

Madam had her own Drame over night, she somehow got herself stuck in the bedroom. Only she wasn't really, she could have hopped over the slot that prevents the door from closing.

When I realized at 5-30 that I didn't have my furry hot water bottle I went and found her.. Shes stayed close and is on my legs and hottie now.

Busy day for me.. I finally get my new glasses, hoping to have my x-rays on the Bermuda triangle if they can squish me in and 7 other places to go to. So ill be doing some things before I get my glasses then the supermarket after it.

Must give Madam an Kissy treat since she didn't get to snuggle with Mum overnight.. and Ive refilled the hottie for her this morning.

Dianne's appointment is at 1pm.. fingers crossed

Have a wonderful day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 19-06-2025

Good morning.

Quite possibly a frost here this morning ... it's cold.  Hopefully a sunny day even though rain forecast this evening.

Glad you have an idea of what's going on with puss OHH even if it cost an arm and a leg! My old boy was very creaky/slow in one hind leg ... moreso in winter. He soaked up any warmth on offer ... I'm sure it helped.

How nice to have an older pooch joining you Mica ... you will look forward to his arrival.

Expect to see a hangi on the go at school this morning at drop off. Good to see the kids celebrating Matariki.

Had better grab some groceries this morning and then I shall decide on the day's happenings.

Enjoy the day all.
