RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 20-06-2025 Rugs moved, Missy approves. Put the temu one in the kitchen with the rolling up edge under the bench. it will stay so long as it doesn't annoy me or trip me up. The lounge one is 10cms smaller all around but you cant tell, so even better. The baskets done on the fridge pantry and shelves. I am by accident a thief.. Discovered I have an extra base. So next time Im in Pukekohe Ill go talk to the manager and pay for it, and ask for a lid. I am using for the recycles before I take them out to the bin. Have vacuumed much to Madams disgust. She hates the vacuum. Compared to Bob who would ride on the Kirby. I hated that machine. Mr'P wanted it, I said if you get it, you use it not me. Have decided Ill unpack the diamond painting stuff into the drawers Di and I built, later, which gets rid of a crate in the lounge.. but Games first then painting. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 20-06-2025 Butter project, started at 12.45, finished bar the clean up 1.45... A hand mixer makes the whole process v e r y slow, but, 450 gms of butter made, divided into four pats, three freezing, one for use, one good quantity half a litre maybe of buttermilk for the fridge, and the softest hands I have had for ages. It tastes good, I didn't salt it, and my shoulders ache from holding the beater for all that time. But watching it happen brought back a lot of memories, and gave me a lot of respect for all those people who churned the stuff by hand! Worth it? Yes. Do it again? Maybe not... We'll see. I am being lazy for the rest of the day... Pain is worth it when you have had fun causing it. What will you do with the Butter Milk Hunnie? Scones. Pikelets etc etc? RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 20-06-2025 May have overdone it slightly today, had another go at that blasted ivy trying to invade over the fence,& gave it a trim back. Should hold it for a while. Then decided to have another go at weeding those blardy buttercups out, & managed to get a few more out, but still quite wet so heavy going. The good news though is that Madame le Dog swallowed the flea/tick treatment pill, not exactly thrilled but she swallowed it. Although I may put it in a hunk of chees next time now that she knows what it is... Friday funny this week has Woody Harrelson reading a letter about a grumpy cat, Dave Allen on Australians & Danny Bhoy on the world cup in Qatar. It is so good for baking popeye, as you know. I am wondering if I should freeze some of that too. Might have to google to check... Do let us know if it is possible. You can freeze milk, cream, butter and cheese so I cant see why not. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() Well done on the butter, OHH ![]() Haha Lilith, you have to be one step ahead of Madame le Dog when it comes to medication. They don't forget, no matter how long it is in between doses. Mica, when does your new dog come home with you? Nice to have an older dog and not worry about the 'puppy stage'. Last evening I unpicked the sea horse again. It's the colour combo I think. I'll have another go today at choosing colours. The recycling needs 'doing' today, our bin man only empties the wheelie bin, and any recycling needs to be taken to the tip. And I might do a bit of baking. The lemons are ripening fast so will find a recipe to use some of them. I don't bake as often now since MrK's sugar levels (and no doubt mine, as well) were just below being too high. Our doctor said it takes three months for sugar to pass through your system; no wonder it is so hard to quit fizzy drinks and the like. I think I'll organise a power shout with Genesis and throw yesterday's washing that is 98% dry into the drier. We saved $20 last month by using them. Better in our pocket than theirs. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-06-2025 I am really looking forward to my bill this coming month, to see how much lower it is. Though I have used the heat pump twice so far for about an hour, but that shouldn't blow it up too much. I hope. The weekly report has just come through, 31% less than the previous week, so that gives a good idea of what that faulty tank was costing me. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 21-06-2025 Good morning. It's cold out there this morning. Will need to warm up before venturing outside! I hope we end up with as nice a day as yesterday. A few remote farms I follow on IG include butter making in their way of living (along with hand milking the cow). It's a reminder of how those before me lead their lives obviously with a lot more hardship ... large family included! Cheese was my go-to pill hiding method for K9 dosing. The feline had to be in liquid form or else! Matariki homemade pizza lunch with family today in their outdoor oven ... a tradition now. DIL clever with multiple topping choices all GF. Half way through an all-in-one top down knitted baby matinee top to use up some wool and have knitting on the go. We're currently watching Code of Silence and I need a distraction, lol! The sun is appearing, a sign to get moving. Enjoy the day all. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 21-06-2025 Morning all Overcast expecting wind Homemade butter enjoy ![]() Those pizzas sound yummy Roma. I should finish my shawl scarf tonight. DD will receive it as it has alot of green the predominant colours that I wanted dark blue and cerise red there in background. Back to the drawing board. We will go and collect our new k9 mid July KM we looking forward to it. Rugged up off to watch DGS soccer games More sewing this afternoon up to bagging out the lining so on home stretch then I will be free to quilt ![]() Enjoy your day keep warm RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-06-2025 Good morning everyone Cooler than yesterday, it was lovely yesterday. Ill keep busy and keep warm. Hunnie does your hip ache with the cold? My knee has been complaining and I wonder if its the cold.. Which is dumb since it should be warm in the body.. Love my kitchen.. Madam loves having the Temu rug out there, runs around and pushes it all over the place lol. I dont mind, it keeps her fit. lol. Ill be in the spare room again this morning. Then games and Painting. I felt like Id learnt to ride a bike without the trainer wheels, with not having the need for the magnifying glass. Oddly holding a big magnifying glass for 4-5 hours on end uses muscles in an odd way lol.. Have a wonderful day everyone Dr Google helped lol. Its not the joint that is hurting its the flesh and muscles around it.. Ohh well ow I know its normal Ill carry on.. lol. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-06-2025 wow, 31%, that's a huge difference, OHH. Our power bill was $208, our month is from the middle of May until now so a mixed bag of temperatures. We use the heat pump when needed, I can't afford for either of us to be sick. And there has been more than the odd time I've used the drier. We watched Code of Silence, it's very good. And Adolescence on Netflix, we were mixed in our feelings about that one. It's the shortest days today ![]() ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-06-2025 (21-06-2025, 09:31 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: wow, 31%, that's a huge difference, OHH. And there has been more than the odd time I've used the drier. Yesterday I was thinking about my Dad all day.. Thinking tomorrow is 51 years since he died. And its the shortest day. This morning, soo not in my head lol.. I often wonder what the people I lost early would be like as older people. But I reckon my dad would have been cool like his Mum was. Happy Birthday for your Son Kiwimade.. dont wake him up tooo early lol. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 21-06-2025 The weekly report says I spent $9 this past week (just energy, none of the extras that double it...) instaed of $13, and that was including the heat pump extravagance. I used the 'sick cat' excuse for that indulgence, but it was 11 degrees in here before I boosted it to 19, lol... Popeye the cold makes me stiff, and that causes the pain, so yes it is muscle. But the real cause is movement eases osteoarthritis - albeit temporarily, and when we are cold and stiff we are inclined not to move, so everything gets worse. Just now I am fighting my spinal stuff, I find I am hunching to protect my lower spine and that is the worst thing I can do. So I am trying really hard to find a wall and take a few minutes to straighten up on a regular basis, ' stand up straight girl!' I hear my father say. Being lazy by nature it is important to remind myself, use it or lose it. Today's project is that blasted winter wardrobe thing. I got halfway and let it slide, the place needs sorting, way too many piles being moved each evening to clear the bed. I feel another op shop run coming on... I sometimes wish I didn't like clothes so much... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 21-06-2025 There is nothing extravagant about staying warm, OHH. Better that than being sick. The fog has finally lifted so the washing may start drying. The roads are drying out so there is hope. Recycling done including the collection of dead batteries we had that I keep forgetting. And the soft plastics dropped off to Woollies. I can polish my halo now lol. An ambulance has gone by with all the bells and whistles going. Someone is having a bad day today. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 21-06-2025 That works for me Hunni. Cos its always in the morning that Im seized up.. Once I'm moving it eases. Blardy bodies.. The spare room is done, as far as it will go for now.. I still have a pile of Banana Boxes, empty in the corner. Ill offer them on FB again and see if anyone wants them. otherwise Ill be flattening them and taking them up to the Junktion. The problem with that is the temptation to look in the shop. lol I have swapped my sim card to the new phone.. Which doesn't fit in my case dammit.. Ill get a new one eventually. Of course my numbers are saved to the phone not the sim card , I have some written down. It will be another shout on FB for everyone to text me lol.. Lunchtime now .. Still amazes me that I can go for hours without food and not even be hungry.. but I knew I should eat. A friend who lives down south & I have a weekly catch up phonecall, & it was just coming to an end when a car pulled up the drive. Wasn't expecting anyone but though it might be sweetie darling no. 2 except the car wasn't theirs. It was favourite youngest granddaughter & her boyfriend; they live in Neslon so don't see them often & hadn't met the boyfirend so a lovely surprise.. They're going to try & visit at least two or three of her cousins while here so hope they manage it. She's gorgeous (of course) & a good bit taller thsn I am (most people are) so she sort of stooped to give me a hug or several. Really made my day. ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 22-06-2025 morning ladies ![]() aww Lilith, what a lovely surprise ![]() The plan was to weed a bit today but omg the ground is cold, might flag it for a bit. Rose pruning time is coming up quickly. I usually pick the first couple of fine days in July to do it. And I must buy some potash and epsom salts to throw around the garden. The pots need topping up with compost too. We had a good long chat with our son yesterday. It's always great to catch up with him. He bought a block of Whitakers chocolate 'on special' and it worked out to be pretty much the same price we pay here. He also said it will be worth every cent lol. He plans to 'stock up' when he comes home next year lol. Putting your contacts on the new phone is a good time to weed out those you haven't heard from in some time, popeye. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 22-06-2025 Morning all Misty Nice to chat to your son KM Having a sit down after flurry of housework chores floors and toilets this morning Afternoo tea with volunteers later thinking I might try my GF cream horns if they disaster got some brandy snaps in the cupboard as backup Coat bagged out yesterday just wee bit of hand sewing and need to decide on closures. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 22-06-2025 Morning everyone Don't know if there was a frost we slept in lol.. Then I remembered a lady is coming for the Banana and Orange boxes.. YAYAY the Kindy are going to make cars out of them cos there will be a Movie in the reserve next weekend she said. I haven't been on that side of town to see the signs. They do it a few times throughout the year. And its normally Packed to the gunnels. So they went out the front before I got breakfast lol Yep I swapped the sim back and got the numbers I needed. Left Aussies ones, 4 altogether off it. I have a couple of things to move in the spare room now that the boxes are gone and it will be as good as it can be. I have paintings I can seal and paint the edges on now. Ill paint the one Dianne gave me first cos she sealed that one. Glad you got to talk with your son Kiwimade. As a place I Loved Perth. Its a pretty city. My one regret was not being there when it was cricket season. Closest I got to the Wacca was going passed on the buss. The Lights are absolutely Massive. Dianne finally got her drain out yesterday she was soo happy. Having a bag on your shoulder all the time is not only annoying its a constant reminder. And Roxy the dog kept hooking her tail in it when Di bent over to pat her. Will pop out later and see how the passionfruit are fairing in the cold. They are in the open. Have a fab day all |
