Not just us. He did Oz too...

After lumbering us both with illegal tariffs. Talk about bully boys.

And now Our own Balding to Orange is threatening "Smashing Gangs".

And the Lawyer they had on the news said he Could be done for that.. Hope the gangs chose to do so.

As much as they may be Bad, they actually do a lot of good too.

They would have the money to Take the PM to court.

I found the glasses where I thought they were, and I know where the hat and sunscreen is. Hoping its fine tomorrow cos Ill be out there.

Dianne was into Theatre early, and enjoyed fish for lunch.. She does need chemo and radiation but it will be another 6 weeks before that starts.. Cant understand that considering in 5 days its 2 months since she was diagnosed.

She is doing well we were laughing on the phone.

Sucks when there are plenty of horrible people it could get.. Like Orange and Balding ones lol.

Apparently there is Cricket on tv3 tonight, 7-30. us against Zimbabwe, I'll be watching that and playing games.

The thing about gangs is they exist because they fill a need. In order to do so they find ways to fund their operations and provide for their members, just like any other human community. If the government really wanted to 'smash' them, it could eliminate those needs by providing adequate affordable housing, accessible and appropriate education, parenting support, and jobs. But making their unique clothing illegal is easier, policing is easier, and throwing illiterate, poorly supported, socially maladjusted young people in jail is easier. Easier because our government doesn't have to exercise imagination or work to solve the problem permanently. You know, the way they each promise they will do every election time.

Yup. Smashing it, guys...

You might enjoy this pome, by a man who has a daughter. I wish my Dad was alive to hear it, my Dad who often moaned about being hagridden by 'his' girls... Sometimes the internet produces the most beautiful gems.

morning ladies Smile What an awesome frost we have this morning.

I would prefer gangs wore their patches, at least I could see who was in front of me at the supermarket or on the street. Denying them the right to wear patches was lazy governance. A 'quick fix' to make it appear the government was doing something about gangs. Just like all this stupid 'small stuff' like Winston Peters putting a bill forward to legally name New Zealand, New Zealand. All plays out of Trump's play book. Distract with one hand and do something awful with the other. And while I'm ranting, give our nurses and teachers a fair go instead of trying to up public servant CEO's wages by 80%. To me, this is Luxon feathering his nest for when he leaves, just like he was feathering his nest when he made all the landlord changes when he became PM.

I'm not sure what we're up to today. Both wheelie bins are full of garden waste and will be refilled when emptied next week. It might be another quiet day. I do have to fill the hole in the lawn my sister-in-law's dog dug. It's right where I know I will go flying if carrying an armful of garden stuff and not see it. Our lawn wasn't mowed this working week, so we are expecting him today. he's mowed on a Saturday before.

Whatever we do, it's going to be outside to make the most of the winter sunshine.

Morning all

RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 02-08-2025

Good morning.

Cool but nice sunshine where we are in the Coromandel.

Mr R has been recalled to his surgeon after MRI so decided to take a break for the weekend seeing the weather forecast good. Have enjoyed travelling roads we haven't been on for many years.  So much growth in the beach towns.

Loved that poem OHH ... it's so nice to see dads participating in their daughters' play tolerating the feminine "look". Our son's painted nails were a sight to behold last time we visited them after such a session  Smile

Yes Mica, being on the sporting sidelines down south takes some rugging up!

Exploring before long so will see what the day brings.

Enjoy the day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 02-08-2025

Morning everyone

Shes cold today. Madam is in the bedroom enjoying the sun. Ill be out there when I've sorted stuff on here.

I cant read the poem it says the link is broken, might be cos I have never done Instagram.

I agree with Kiwimade, I prefer to see their patches too... and Luxon wears his own patch in a way by always wearing Blue. Never seen him with a red tie, I dont think but I try not to look at him lol.

And yes the gangs do what they need to do to look after their people. And generally they only have trou le with other gangs, let them sort themselves out I say.

I reckon ALL MPs to the to should have to live a year on a benefit or pension, in a rented house, not social housing, full proper rent and no perks... See how they like it. Its the only way they will understand how real people are living.

Things would certainly change then I imagine.

God I hate the cold... its starting to annoy me, Ive never said this but Spring and summer hurry up lol

Have a good day all

Yeah, but those things make sense. AND deprive govts of that ever so handy target...every damned election (& in between times) its always the gangs & the criminals thy're going to 'get tough' on - remember Judith Collins being called 'Crusher Collins" because she was going to smash the boy racer's cars years ago. Trump is too busy juggling nuclear submarines to be whispering sweet nothings in Luxon's ears that will be Thiel doing the mischief making with the National Party.

It's funny to see Bulawayo mentioned here. I spent two years there doing my GCE "A" levels at Sixth Form College. It has very wide main streets in the CBD, wide enough that an ox cart with full yoke of oxen can do a "u" turn. It's a lovely spread out city with Matopos Hills, Cecil Rhode's Burial Place, not far away.

I was there during the time that Southern Rhodesia declared U.D.I. (Unilateral Declaration of Independence) under Ian Smith.

Between the age of 16 to 18 years old I boarded with a family whose father was the man in charge of Beyer-Garratt Locomotive maintenance from Mafeking in South Africa to Livingstone by Victoria Falls.

I had one of the most memorable days of my life on an unofficial day trip with other school friends to Matopos Hills.

Like an old lady doing a bit of political embroidery on the back of her denim cutoff jacket?  Must say I enjoy it when the underlying message gets read by a passing pair of eyes...

I'd quite like to be arrested wearing it too.  Big Grin

Cheers for posting that, interesting to see all the older buildings, some similar to some here until the quakes.

I looked up the meaning of Zimbabwe & apparently it means stone houses or buildings.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 03-08-2025

morning ladies Smile We have another frosty morning although not as heavy as yesterday.

Thanks for the link, zqwerty, interesting stuff Smile And OHH, your link was 'broken' so I couldn't use it Sad

Yesterday MrK and I had a good talk about his health, and I pointed out if he didn't move about more, he would lose muscle, and they wouldn't do the op. And if he landed in a wheelchair our home isn't geared up for that and then what? It was a pretty frank conversation, but it did have him thinking and moving a bit more. We'll see how today goes.

Today we have rubbish to burn, and the espaliered camellias need tying up. I'll ask MrK for 'help' on this as the camellias are his babies and it's another way to get him moving.

The slow cooker is out ready for tonight's casserole; I'm off to semi-prepare the veg.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 03-08-2025

Important talk KM there is toning stuff to be done while sitting too.

Must be weekend for a talk ours was wants v needs. DH needs new phone his current one is 3G and won't be supported at the end of year. Still he doesn't have any expensive hobbies perhaps I shouldnt be too mean. However he needs new glasses, and wants to upgrade his hearing aids = much loot

Stripped down and cleaned the vacuum yesterday  these stick vacuums need more attention than the old kind.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-08-2025

Doesn't help Mr km that it is winter, my hips were always much hurtier in the cold. Aquatherapy is really good if you have access to a heated pool, before and after surgery, no weight movement hurts much less.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 03-08-2025

It needed to be said, mica.  Am over his self pity and woe is me shi*.  Yes, you are in pain, that's what pain relief is for.  I am not your maid.  Think about things you can do, pick up after yourself.  I've noticed he's moving a bit quicker now on the walker, so he can do it.  I don't care if others think I am a bi**h, he needed to hear some home truths yesterday.  I will help when needed but he needs to realise, there is stuff he can do.

And I know what you are saying about the $$$.  MrK and I both need new glasses and him a hearing aid.  Over the years it has been MrK who has needed them more but now it's me as well.

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 03-08-2025

Nothing like a bit of tough love KM  Heart

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 03-08-2025

Morning everyone

Yep Im late but I dont care lol.

It needed to be said KM.. I said it often enough to MrP. Reminding him there was still so much he could do.. The result was him in a rest home and then cos he decided since Ken and Arthur didn't walk he didn't have to either and look where that got him .
Im going to say what I hated hearing, we have to harden our hearts some. I was soo p*ssed off when the manager of the second home told me that. But after he died I thanked her.. MrP acted like a 2 year old.

When it comes to glasses and hearing aids go to Specsavers, winz pay and you pay them back, I only pay $3 a week for mine.
There is no need to go broke over those things. You can also get furniture and appliances, the only one I have had was the drier.

I call it a perk, interest free.

Most likely more painting for me today. It still doesnt look like anything lol.. But it will be pretty from further away, just for the colours.
The next one is five windows of flowers, there are daffodils on it so Im calling it my wedding anniversary present for myself.

Have a fab day all.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-08-2025

I get my contacts from Specsavers. It amuses me though, I order online via the NZ site and then get the message that they've been picked up and handed to the airline... They come from Melbourne. All those air miles...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 03-08-2025

We also use Specsavers Smile MrK needs a prism attached to his glasses to stop him from seeing double when watching TV.

The message has gotten through. Could I please move the garden trolley so he can walk up and down along a garden. Yesss, I can do that! AND he walked the length of our road to help me with the camellias. And maybe, the scoot could come out and I can try and sit on it to see how we could manage it Big Grin
