The message has gotten through.  Could I please move the garden trolley so he can walk up and down along a garden.  Yesss, I can do that!  AND he walked the length of our road to help me with the camellias.  And maybe, the scoot could come out and I can try and sit on it to see how we could manage it Big Grin

Todays win.. May he keep it up.

One day at a time Km...

Winz should still pay if he gets a letter from the GP and Specsavers.

I'm sure you did the right thing, KM. If only because the consequences of him not doing so could eventually be dire & affect both of you.

Another frosty start here but sunny now, had to wear the Aztec hat for the obligatory morning walk.

Lilith7, the name comes from this place, I have been there many time during my younger years in Africa. Apparently it was the first attempt in this part of Africa for an iron Age culture but was beaten to the marketplace by Arab traders/slavers bringing in iron implements when they scouted the area for slaves and fell into disrepair.

The Zimbabwe Bird is very famous and was the symbol of Southern Rhodesia.

Those ruins look as though they must have been quite imposing when they were newly built, & even now look intriguing. You have to wonder how many various peoples have had civilisations all over the planet in earlier times, which we know little or nothing about.

Well the brasier sold and has gone to new much younger owners, with stronger wrists, lol... And so I have pounced on an auction for a couple of milk bottles to replace the one I just broke doing something really dumb. I dropped a knife into it as it waited in the sink for washing, and sure enough, punched a little hole in the bottom in doing so. Trouble is, that is the second time I have done that. There will not be a third.

Stupid woman!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 03-08-2025

Ohh Hunnie its annoying when we break things in way we know is silly.

KM Also Add your Not a nurse and Cannot be on duty 24/7/52/365 days a year. and with your health doing things it hasn't done before you have to look after you first.
Easier said than done, I know, but your garden is a good way to vent the anger and frustrations that will come.

I've pretty much had a repeat of yesterday, including dinner lol.. Now Im having an apple which Im enjoying more than choccie lol.

Been texting with Dianne, she said her surgery sight is good, but her back isn't. She said something pinched and hurt getting out of the bed yesterday. She's using a walker. She said she never realised how safe they make you feel... I said that's why I still use mine in the morning especially until the bones have all released and if Im carrying meals.

Going to do some homework tonight about the Markets in Thames, so I can make a date with Gayle. Cos she will have to do a "Swapsy" as they call it at the Hemodialysis when someone needs to change a day.

Must look and see how todays first market here went.

morning ladies Smile What a sunrise, the best I've seen for ages. Spring must be on its way.

MrK admitted yesterday he felt better already after walking along our little road. And he put a few things away without being asked. It did knock the stuffing out of him, and he had a two hour nap in the afternoon. Fingers crossed. His caregiver comes this morning and while she is here, I'll weed the garden pots. I might even sit outside with the camera and take pics of the waxeyes.

Yesterday I put the bottom bit of a pineapple out for the waxeyes and they love it. Boy they get territorial over food and flap their little wings as a warning. I'll top the rest of the bird feeder up this morning.

I found some rhubarb in the freezer yesterday so it's rhubarb crumble with our dinner tonight. It's the new bright red variety and is sweeter than the old plant we had. My friend gave us a piece of her plant, and it hasn't looked back since planting. MrK is entrusting the vegie garden to me this summer, at least until the tomatoes grow high enough for him to tend to. *evil chuckle* I warned him there won't be any straight rows this summer Tongue In fact, the vegies may be randomly placed in the garden Tongue

When did coffee cup have holes in the bottom? One coffee a day and it's over so quickly.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-08-2025

Bit chilly here in Auckland. I might have to put the heat pump on while I go make coffee and get contacts in so I can start my day. Going to be a stitching session I suspect, looking a bit silvery out there so far. With luck we'll get that sun back this afternoon. I did enjoy all that uv bathing over the weekend - I even put the sun umbrella up, a first since summer moved north...

RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 04-08-2025

Morning all
Overcast calm

Finished the quilting and it looks good from a distance it won't stand up to close scrutiny  from the quilting police Tongue
Will sew binding on this afternoon.
Planned on visit to Spotlight to get some fleece to make DGD1  a new dressing gown. Email this am saying 40% off  sale could be dangerous

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 04-08-2025

Funny thing, I think I might have become a probationer constable in the quilting police, since acquiring my Amish quilts. I had always loved quilts, even made a couple - badly, lol- until I had those and really understood how a good quilt is built, and the skills required. So now I know too much to ever try making one again. And it has made me very conscious of building my own stitching skills, getting smaller, neater, exploiting the quality of stitchery, undoing it when the mistakes scream but leaving it when showing the hand is worth it. And I am enjoying it more as a result.

But I will never be as skilled or talented a stitcher as those I enjoy learning from. Especially those Amish ladies I met all those years ago...

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 04-08-2025

Good morning everyone

Tis grey here and chilly.

Love the sniggers KM they are important to us carers lol.

I would Love to meet some Amish women. Oddly as independent as I am, I really like the idea of someone else having to make all the decisions lol and while it would be hard, especially medically I think its a life I could live. The friendships they have, helping everyone. The only part I wouldn't handle is the religion lol.

I would Love to make a quilt but I know nothing about them really, other than the fact that Im not a straight sewer. You rushed when in a factory and I dont think Id be tidy enough. I have made one baby quilt which was just panels and I put wadding in and sewed around parts of the pictures..

I should finish the picture today, but probably tomorrow depending on how long my games take. The last few weeks Ive thought why I am doing them when I earn the double points so I can score more, but I never just play for the sake of it. I do the daily challenge and event and that it...
But its good for my brain which is why I do play it.

I played scrabble for a couple of hours last night and won every game.. I might go up a level and see how I go.

Crime on tv tonight so there wont be any games

Have a fab day everyone

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 05-08-2025

morning ladies Smile The cloud is building up, but we have told by the weather gurus we won't have rain. That's good as the wheelie bins have been emptied and I need to cut the shrub prunings into smaller bits and then bin them.

MrK has had a good idea to build a shelf on the fence when it has been repaired to take the smaller garden pots. Not only will it be practical, it will keep him moving Heart and feeling useful again. He woke me at 1.00am to tell me he would measure it up today and he thinks he has some suitable timber 'somewhere' that could be used. Thanks, babe, love the idea, I'll give you a hand to measure, can we sleep now lol.

The car windscreen has stone chips (who's hasn't these days) and AMI are paying for them to be repaired. We certainly have had our $$$ worth out of them over the last two years. We will get onto that today.

Our daughter gave me a gorgeous cross stitch to stitch for Christmas and later today I will sort out threads for it and overlock the fabric. I haven't cross stitched since the 80's lol. I'm thinking it will make a lovely cushion cover.

Enjoy your day Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 05-08-2025

Morning everyone

Chilly and wet here. very grey.

Gotta love it when ideas come to us in the middle of the night lol.. My red and white blanket was a night time Idea, I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget lol.

Im going to try and sort out the new lappy today. I should have had it up and running ages ago.

David messaged last night. wondered if I would like to go out to the beach at some stage.. he knows I want to take MrPs ashes out there. I told him after tomorrow.

Had to move the peace lily, Madam managed to jump up onto the shelf it was on, I thought it would be too high for her.. So had a trail of thankfully not too yucky puke to clean up. So its not sitting on the fridge. She thought she could jump up there from the breakfast bar, I told her to stop being silly she will never make it.

Ill get her some puha when I empty the littler bucket She likes puha.

Made sure I got something out for dinner today, dont know where my head was yesterday. I didn't get anything out and I didn't put rice on.. lol

Have a good day all

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 05-08-2025

I remember loving cross stitch early in my stitching days, and being very pleased with a piece I had done until my sister pointed out all the crosses were meant to go the same way. Utter disgust, lol, and swapped over to needlepoint which really was the same thing but I assured myself wasn't. That obsession lasted for years and saved mt life when I was going through surgeries to repair my busted leg. I made a lot of cushions and table rugs and still love their textures and colours. All those stitches go the same way , lol...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 05-08-2025

lol OHH, you should hear the comments when people realise the stitches are going the 'wrong' way... this leftie points out to them they aren't wrong in my eyes.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 05-08-2025

You did the Bamboo cross stitch for me KM. I know we were in the first house here so that was between 2004 and 2018.

I have a framed "Cross stitch" My grandmother did I think it was 1981 or 1984, but she only did one stich, all the same way but there wasn't a second to make it a cross. It was one of the last ones she did cos her fingers were knots of arthritis.

Both still very loved.

I did put the lily up on the fridge, she was sitting ion the breakfast bar at once stage and got told off and she got down. Im going to have to move it when I go out. or I might as well give it away.

I still haven't got my chain of hearts from Jo yet.. Must ask . I know madam wont be able to reach that one anytime soon.

Well I couldnt remember my password for Fb so the new lappy has become my game lappy. I can look other stuff up but it was working better than this one for the games..

Untill I oneday can remember my password lol.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 06-08-2025

morning ladies Smile What a lovely, calm morning we have.

Ohh I had forgotten about that cross stitch, popeye lol. And you can change your FB password; they send you a text or e mail.

Albertine and last three piles of weeds have been binned. Now it's just the last of the shrub to cut into small pieces to do today. I'll do that while MrK's caregiver is here. If I have enough oomph today, I'll start breaking up the concrete pieces we had put aside for stepping stones.

Still sorting the threads and fabric, it's a bit of a stop/start thing at the moment.

Life is pretty quiet at the moment, after all MrK's health dramas lately, it's quite nice Smile

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 06-08-2025

Morning everyone

Grey and damp here

Yeah I tried to change my password but it wont send texts to me, so Ill leave it for now. I dont need the frustration lol.

I can at least play my games and it work properly.

Off to Housie this morning.. Madam is Miffed to say the least cos I've shut the bedroom door.. I tried explaining there isn't any sun anyway lol,, and she can look out the lounge window, just not as exciting for her I guess lol

Better check that I havent annoyed the twin bro. He put another post up yesterday to do with cancer etc etc, and it annoyed me. His wife isnt the only one who has passed away from cancer but anyone dying is hard, not just cancer.

I measured up the bathroom last night , Im going to make curtains cos its the coldest part of the house, I could just shut the door but Madam likes playing in there, or perhaps I should put it on the laundry side of the door from there to the kitchen, cant shut the door cos her litter tray is out there. Might do that actually.

Have a fab day all
