RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 29-08-2025 Years ago, i won an auction for an unusual cat carrier. This was before I had internet or a computer at home, did it all at work. I did not know I had won as my brother had died before the auction closed and I was not at work for any emails. The seller had apparently meet me at a cat show, when I was there with a good friend, who she knew. When I did not reply to any emails, she contacted my friend, who explained the situation, seller sent the carrier with a note saying pay when things settle A bit. The auction had not even entered my thoughts, paid of course, but things where a little easier back and I think we were more casual. KM I feel for MrKM that mix for a colonoscopy is evil, stay close to the loo. I think it is worse than the procedure, I wish him all the best. What a really kind thing to do; & not everyone would have been so reasonable about it. ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 29-08-2025 I made a promise to myself when I turned seventy. I would not consent to unpleasant tests, screenings, or invasive procedures that did not come with guaranteed benefits to me. So far so good. Lovely little moment just now, I poured my small afternoon wine and popped some potato chips into a bowl so I could up my salt intake, and the Tatt decided she should check out the bowl. These are just the extra thin salted but no extra flavours, definitely no chicken, but still, she decided they should be investigated. As I watched she dipped her nose, sniffed, then delicately picked up a single chip before scarpering off the table and onto the floor, to demolish her prize. Didn't come back for more, so she must have got her daily salt allowance too. But I better vac tomorrow. She left crumbs... I do like that cat. RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 29-08-2025 Your tatty cat sounds blardy hard case hunny. I can just imagine the slow steady steal of the prize I love sour cream and chive chips, however the dogs don't mind what flavor I must mention the minute the cheese block comes out of the fridge, all three line up for their tiny pieces Wind has finally died down here thank goodness. We were nearly blown across the park at walk time But the washing was all nice and dry so that was a bonus RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 29-08-2025 Hi Mom we are Home lol.. Ohh we had a blast.. did the cemetery on the way in, thank goodness cos the weather changed.. AND I made it down and up the steep hill my Sister and Nephew are nearly at the Bottom of. Thankfully its been concreted now. One speed wobble on uneven ground on the way to see Dad and then my grandparents. I showed Gayle where we used to live. We stopped at the park, they took the bulk of the boat away, I remember signing a petition to keep it. But we went up on this one. I wouldn't let Gayle slide down the bendy poles cos Id never be able to pick her up cos we would be laughing too much. We did 6 shops lol... I spent the grand sum of $41.. Very restrained. Got a Tulip touch light that matches the one I have in the lounge. A red with white spots ( Cos that's me lol) cookie jar. and Im sure most here would remember the ridged metal milkshake maker that we used to make cold milos in. 2 Jo Seagar books ( it was worth writing down what I had) a Birdcage.. the was a not needed just yet but its a big one and was only $9. But the best buy was a Tupperware jug. I've had one on my watchlist for probably 2 years.. but the postage killed the cost for me.. This one looks new and was only $2 lol As we left there was the Brightest Rainbow either of us had seen, Over the cemetery Gayle Said My sister was saying goodbye.. I think she was right.. Only got caught in the rain once, but it was Really heavy in Pukekohe. Didn't get cramp until I got home so I was pleased about that. Dianne had her first chemo today. she said it wasn't too bad. Heaps of pills for nausea, to make her "go" and she has to watch how she gets on and they can shorten the time it takes if she copes with it. We were just talking about how we are both glad Mum isn't here to see her go through this. Cos she would worry about her Baby girl. but Dianne wouldn't be able to go in to see her, too easy to catch bugs. Im a weary bunny tonight. been a long day when you dont sleep well the night before. KM Im glad they are looking at MrKs arms smartly. He could have a bug in his lymph nodes.. Ive been reading about them recently, cos of Dianne but also cos I have to be careful with deodorants cos they mess with my nodes. My worst TM trade was when I sold a mobile. The lady reckoned she never got it and wanted her money back. I said I always put a return address one so if it comes back Ill send it again.. she kept demanding her money back. I told her that I would know if the phone was ever turned on so if we find it I would get it back to her. after I told her that she stopped asking.. Madam prefers Chicken Chippies thank you Mum lol.. But then she will eat salt and vinegar too.. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-08-2025 Clearish sky, so this morning looks good for outdoor stuff. I am enjoying the slight rise in temperature, my bones like it better than the chill, roll on Summer. A neighbour banged on my door yesterday, her fridge was on the blink and she needed freezer space urgently. So I was handed an armful of meat to store, not sure whether she wants it back or what but fortunately there was a bit of room in the meat drawer so I bagged it together and put it there. Interesting that her fridge is three years old, a massive Westinghouse luxury model, much younger than my bottom of the range Samsung which must be coming on for ten years now and sails on with never a problem. Sometimes expensive isn't the best choice. But it also reminds me that nothing lasts forever, and maybe I should keep my eyes open for a chilly bin - just in case. My careful budget would buckle somewhat under a fridge disaster, as it would for most of us I suspect, despite my WSHTF savings account... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-08-2025 morning ladies ![]() lol Tatty Cat. They can be delicate when they choose too! We're trying to get our cholesterol levels down so no chippies for us (for now lol). MrK had his ultra sound for the lump under is arm and it isn't one lump, it's a series of lumps close together. I counted 10, the radiologist saw more. It's a biopsy for him and then a plan can be worked out about what to do. He's not worried about it (so he says, yeah right, Tui advert here) but I'm worried as heck. The Furry One seems to be on the mend; the steroids are doing the trick. He hates having the steroids but lets me put it in his ears without too much fuss. He has the zoomies afterwards trying to outrun the feeling in his ears, so we play with him until he settles down again. He also lovessssss cheese and it is our secret weapon to get his epilepsy meds into him twice a day. BUT he does not like the Rolling Meadow brand for some reason. Weird dog. Not many people buy cheese based on what the dog likes, I suspect lol. The sun's out and the fog is beginning to go, we might have a fine(ish) day after all. I have just read this on Stuff. Makes me even more nervous about buying online. https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360805573/three-people-one-payment-no-accountability-inside-sophisticated-new-online-fraud RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 30-08-2025 Morning all Fine dayvso far. Oh KM I would be worried too. Its so harder to deal with the unknown cyber hugs Cleaning this morning while DH and k9 are out walking. Finished quilting the cot quiltvwillmsort out the binding today. We have an over ripe banana so I've suggested DH make a banana cake today. Last sleeve on jersey nearly finished lets hope the jolly thing fits me and looks ok Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 30-08-2025 (30-08-2025, 07:25 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies I have all digits crossed for Mr K, sounds as though he'll get whatever he needs though after this ultrasound. I don't understand why anyone would spend that much money on a sight unseen purchase. I hesitate if its over thirty bucks, lol. I'd want to touch that machine before a penny changed hands let alone thousands. Silly man... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-08-2025 Morning everyone, Sunny here too Madam is sunning herself. Smoke alarms at 4am are just plain nasty, nothing burning so I suspect maybe a spider walked across it. I saw a massive daddy long legs the other day but too high for me to reach. Im with Hunnie, I dont and certainly wouldn't spend that sort of money online in anyway shape or form unless I knew the person. But the stupid privacy act makes things much harder to remedy. Like us losing our fridge cos the worker in the Noel Leeming's gave us his bank account, very cleverly named. So we paid for a fridge and Noel Leeming's came and took it. I have a new mission. Gayle wants an egg beater, the self propelled type. We found one yesterday but it had plastic parts that were jamming up. So Ill be looking online. And then oppies as well. Theres 6 oppies I counted in Pukekohe but one I haven't been into since it moved. So Ill have another oppy day on Thursday. KM hope all goes well for MrK.... Umm I had to buy normal edam cheese for Millie and Cheese slices for Bobcat.. neither like the other lol. Madam Missy prefers the block too, so Im saying Bob had no taste in cheese lol. I took am enjoying the fewer degrees higher temps.. Oddly my chill blains stopped itching so bad when I brought the cream to put on them and haven't itched since lol. and its still unopened in the box lol.. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 30-08-2025 Sounds like you had a great trip Popeye and some good bargains there. My other half loves op shopping and comes home with the most random things. His latest was two packets of snail shells used in restaurants to put something in (so he tells me). Hmmmmmm not sure what we needed them for ....... Kiwi, glad to hear your puplet is on the mend, and hardcase he knows the different brands of cheese. Hunni, so lucky for your neighbor that you had freezer space. I still have a chilly bin handy after the cyclone episode two years ago. We were 7 days without power so needed to be able to keep the dog roll (and other essentials) cold haha Warm spring like day here in the bay today. No wonder thankfully. Washing on, bed linen day today so the machine will be working hard Greenwaste bin was emptied on Thursday ready for more garden attacking to happen today and it's ment to turn crappy tomorrow Going to make cheese scones for lunch today and then put the leftovers in the freezer for work morning teas. Have a great day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 30-08-2025 (30-08-2025, 07:25 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies THAT doesnt sound good KM. Mind you - paying that much for a coffee maker seems OTT. Hope those lumps prove to be removable & not too much of a problem for Mr K. Did our longer, earlier walk, still sunny then but has now clouded over & cooled down. Then did a bit more on the big back garden; noticed there was parsley mounting a takeover bid the other day so looked up if its compatible with pumpkins since that's what I want to plant there, luckily it's apparently excellent, they really like each other so will be starting off pumpkins soon. Then just have to dig in compost & plant when big enough. RE: You can never have enough... - kazza - 30-08-2025 (30-08-2025, 07:25 AM)kiwimade64 Wrote: morning ladies Fingers crossed for MrK, he is having a bad run but hopefully they will be on to it for him. Grocery run to Tokoroa shortly once our visitors have left. Daughters and Grandma playing cards, four crowns I think it is. Out tonight to Hamilton for Bruce Springsteen tribute concert (hubbys birthday present), should be good. We saw Dire Straits tribute band a few months back and they were awesome. Have a good day ladies. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 30-08-2025 I saw Bruce Springsteen in Auckland when he last toured here and OMG his concert was amazing. Three solid hours of him on stage with a 10 minute break. We sang and danced the whole time lol. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-08-2025 We saw a lot of "cough couch" older style Music yesterday.. Ohh if only I had a record player. Gayle got quite a few Cds tho lol... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 30-08-2025 Oops cough cough not cough couch lol hahahaha RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-08-2025 morning ladies ![]() Sounds like you both had a ball, popeye ![]() Last evening we watched 'The Thursday Murder Club' on Netflix. Omg lmao, what a great movie with great actors. Helen Mirren was at her acting best. I have one more corner to stitch and the hardanger piece will be finished. With the weather the way it is today, I may even finish it. Hopefully it will protect the little table from the sun and help prevent it from drying out so much. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 31-08-2025 Morning all Heavy rain since late last night so indoors day and no k9 walk Sounds like a good day out Popeye, had a lol about the snail shells Got quilt bound yesterday, DD, DSIL and DGD1 came over DGD wanted to go for a swim, DH had a chicken rotisserie on BBQ so they stayed for dinner. They are planning some pretty big alterations to their house and had some plans for various options that the architect had given them this last week all very exciting. Not sure what I will do today, do need to clean the vacuum, its filters weekend did the washing machine yesterday need to do dishwasher and range hood today as well then it will be the sewing cave for inspiration Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-08-2025 I am pleased to see a Murder Club review KM, I picked up one of Osman's books at the library after reading a rave review and couldn't get past the first page. I suspect with a cast like they have for thescreen version my reaction would be very different. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-08-2025 Morning everyone Wet here but I cant see any wind. Not cold which is nice. Madam is on the back of the lounge chair cos its lighter out this side of the house lol. Snails is on the list of I would never try lol.. probably the oddest thing I've eaten was baby octopus. And yes rubbery yuck. Just give me a pork sausage and ill be happy lol. Housework today, that didn't get done yesterday cos we had a 3 hour Nana Nap lol.. Gayle also slept longer, she does after dialysis but she didn't wake up till after 5pm lol. Ive decided to move the first tulip lamp and have one either side of the tv but on top of the book cases. Need to find my bag of power leads and boards and get them sorted out. Then Ill do the dishes and vacuum... Yesterday I noticed rain had come in the louver window in the bathroom. Let the landlord know and she wasn't bothered about it. And considering the window is bubble wrapped it shows how bad the wind had been driving the rain. But if she's not worried about it I wont be either.. If the wall falls off she will have a bigger problem. Two previous tenants have told her. But if Im standing in the bath having a shower when it falls off she will know about it. I wont forget the date cos it was our 34th wedding anniversary yesterday. OH in the Sallies shop in Thames they had a Steam Punk denim jacket. It had patches sewn on and NZ coins sewn on it. Including 3pences.. It was soo cool. Only $25 but it was too big.. ( Sobs).. I thought of you Hunnie when I saw it. You would have loved it Im sure. They also had some beautiful evening dresses, but also too big or you needed boobs to make them look good. One was a grey dress and jacket with lots of lace. I asked Gayle if it would fit me, she said No.... I said I didnt think it would, she goes its too big for you silly. Have a good indoors day everyone.. |
