Thank you for thinking of me popeye! I am working on the pink jacket at the moment, and it is starting to come right. It is always interesting with a project, to reach that point where doubts start to mount up and I wonder if my ideas are going to work. And I have learnt to push through that point and keep adding until all of a sudden the tide turns and I start to like it. That is where I am now, lots still to do on it, but I am looking forward to wearing it.

RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 31-08-2025

Tatty cat has good taste and lovely manners, dainty one little chip, wish I had her self control.
Popeye sounds like a great day, you will have to start planning your next adventure.
Hope everything goes well for MrK.
The snail shells cracked me up, have eaten them once and never again, same experience as KM, but I will always try something once.
Hope the concert was good, I like Bruce, was also the name of my old blue heeler.
Yesterday picked up my new second hand car, was really exciting, only had 15ks to get home from the dealership, my sister in law was looking at it and there was a nail in one of the tyres, of course not in the middle it was very close to the side wall, and it was from a nail gun, nearly two inches long, was not leaking air, so straight  to the tyre guy, and he looks at me and says, you know if I pull this and it leaks we cannot fix as it is in the side, it  will mean new 2 new tyres, if you have to replace one it is better to do both, which I knew. Did not breathe as he pulled, someone must have been watching over me, because it had  not penatrated the tyre.
Looked at it this morning and it is perfect, now have to clean and polish the old car and sell it.
It is a wild day here so not looking forward to this task!!
Have a great day everyone

Can't wait to see the jacket hunni. Sounds so cool. I'm so boring when it comes to clothes
KM I'm sorry to hear Mr KM is having such a a rough time. Awesome you have some help sorted. Mr Z has a permanent back injury. It's bloody hard being the main do-oe of things at home. He has good and bad days, so on good days he does what he can. His back lets us know when a southerly is coming before the weather man lol.
Your grandies Lilith seems to love your pool. That's awesome, and how awesome you make so many things for them, I wish I had better sewing capabilities than the very basics.
Popeye, hope your little rearranging project goes well
Not much planned for today, it's overcast and ment to rain so will get a few outside bits done then come in and mop floors and finish of the inside housework.
Nachos for dinner tonight, miss 13 said she will make the mince so that's brilliant.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-08-2025

I spent a lifetime being boring about clothes. Being boring about lots of things really, I think a lot of it was because I was a fifties girl child and while we watched and learned from all the social changes happening as we grew up, we were conditioned early to not make waves, to play nicely, and be quiet people in dress among other ways. And I did all that, mistakes, disasters, and all -sort of, with small rebellions, up until all of a sudden there was just me left with no responsibilities, no one to be well behaved for. And it was a revelation, a kind of awakening. And a really low point in what has been an 'interesting' life, lol.

So, I was faced with choices, and from among them I decided to follow my heart, say yes to new things, maybe scary risky things, and to see if I could live a different kind of life. A more creative one, a more self focused one, a less careful one. A taking control kind of one. And so far, I have few regrets about taking hold of that freedom, because it is a freedom to be in sole charge of my life with no one else to worry about. Including something as inconsequential as what I wear and why. Inconsequential, but great fun. And boy, have I had fun, because some of those choices have been much bigger than what I wear, but in the end, have given me exactly the same pleasure as a hand stitched and embellished second hand jacket...

Sounds like you both had a ball, popeye Smile We all need days like that.  And you found some gems in the op shops too.  I'm wondering what MrZ was thinking when he bought those snail shells, zoe lol.  Maybe he was planning on catching and cooking snails the French way.  I've tried them before and don't recommend lol. They were tough and rubbery and too much of a fiddle for this left hander to get out of the shells with the fancy tool provided.  I have another small pile of stuff to take to our community op shop (the one that was on TV1's Goodfellow segment a few weeks ago).  The last time I was there I found a glass dish that sits perfectly on the windowsill in the bathroom for the shampoo, conditioner and body wash.  I've been looking on and off for one exactly like it for a while now.  Cost us the princely sum of $2.

Last evening we watched 'The Thursday Murder Club' on Netflix.  Omg lmao, what a great movie with great actors.  Helen Mirren was at her acting best.

I have one more corner to stitch and the hardanger piece will be finished.  With the weather the way it is today, I may even finish it.  Hopefully it will protect the little table from the sun and help prevent it from drying out so much.

I tried snails once years ago - a pain to get out of shells & mostly tasted of garlic, the sort of thing which is OK but won't bother with again.

Did our walk, Madame le Dog set quite a pace this morning for some reason known only to her; then again, she may have known it was about to rain, we just made it home before there were a few drops.
So no gardening today, never mind feeling quite virtuous after getting so much done yesterday, even transplanted a few more violets. If I only had the energy I had years ago, they'd all be done by now.

Messed about with a pastel drawing the other day & wasn't that keen on the result so did another in photoshop with some changes - definitely better. Have been doing one or two pastels lately & will have to get down to The Drawing Room for some non acidic tossue paper at some point, to cover them so they don't smudge.

A while ago I watched Code of silence streaming & it was really good, Rose Ayling-Ellis was excellent so have also watched  Reunion which featured her.

Its good isn't it, when you reach the age where you no longer give a toss what others think of what you happen to wear...even if its only wearing a ridiculous (but warm!) Aztec hat for the dogwalk... Big Grin

Its quite strange to reach a point in life where you're not constantly responsible for other people too.

Id have brought it if it would fit.. I do like that there is obviously a bigger lady in Thames Rocking these clothes. Maybe she has lost weight or moved onto even cooler clothes, for there to be a full wrack of them. all Bold. The grey/silver dress and jacket was beautiful. Id have loved to have been able to wear that.

Lights are in place.. Only needed a double plug, and the heater will be unplugged before too much longer.

Oops put music on when I did the dishes, which ended up with a Moaning Madam at my feet.. I CAN sing but she doesn't like it.. Well Tough Kitty Bikkies, I will sing lol

My car is a mess.. Im going to have to clean it eventually.. Thankfully there is a power point in the carport. The trouble being I use the Car vac in the house lol.. But Ill get it done, when its fine.

Not only am I looking for the egg beater but also Arcoroc Coffee mugs.. Gayles David,. yep ANOTHER one... loves his mug.. I found two listings on TM. Cant believe they aren't around. I will be looking in our local and Pukekohe oppies to see if they have any. We cant have a grown man ( I use that term lightly) crying cos his fave mug broke and he couldn't replace it.

I too enjoy looking after Just me.. which is a first for me. Being a twin, then looking after the bloke, then my parents, then the same bloke but more limited and the new friends in the rest home ..... Now ME.. I am learning that life is for living, if I want something and can afford it Ill get it.. And slowly learning how to have fun.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 31-08-2025

Wow, GJW, that was very lucky!

I wondered if it was the same actress in 'Reunion' Smile Might just give it a whirl as we really enjoyed her acting.

Almost there with the hardanger, halfway through (or thereabouts) the last corner. Will have some lunch and do dishes then spend a guilt free afternoon trying to finish it.

RE: You can never have enough... - kazza - 31-08-2025

Had a great time at the concert, mainly a older crowd but almost everyone was up singing and dancing for the encore, Born in the USA, Glory Days and Dancing in the Dark with some of the crowd getting up on stage to. Lead singer was fantastic, sounded just like Bruce complemented by a great band.
Rainy old day here so feet up knitting I think.
Do have a giggle at your animal antics. Our two kitties have a taste for Edam cheese, as soon as the grater comes out they are lining up for their tidbits. Can just imagine your tatty swiping the chip OHH, our Harley tries to swipe with her stealthy paw to, not always successfully however.
Have a good day ladies.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-08-2025

Kazza
I have to give Missy ( Madam) edam cheese daily. So its the last thing we eat each day lol or she wouldn't leave me alone. Or more to the point she wouldnt leave me alone to eat my own. Its just as well I also love cheese. If Im grating it I have to break up 3-4 long pieces.

No matter how Quiet I am with the cheese container, she knows the sound lol.

She will eat any cat food, so long as its chicken in gravy. We dont do ones in jelly lol..

Cant wait till its dark enough to put the two lights on tonight.

Its got cool.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-08-2025

I think they smell it too, from a room away. Tatt wakes up from a dead sleep the moment I sit down with my cheese and cracker lunch. And arrives on the arm of my chair. Waiting...

If its fine I now have to sort of crouch down when in the kitchen, if Madame le Cat is outside. She's only got to spot me through the window & she sprints onto the back porch & takes up residence, loudly claiming that its her dinnertime. She has a little possy by the back fence & because she's a tabby, she's virtually impossible to see.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 31-08-2025

They rule the world our Fur Babies lol..

Oddly we wouldn't have it any other way either lol

Woohoo Ill have my drawer knobs tomorrow...

And be able to line the last shelf of the fridge.. Makes it sooo much easier to clean.

RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 31-08-2025

OHH, I made your cobbler, it was so easy and delicious, I put castor sugar and cinnamon on top, the top and sides were crunchy and the butter made it taste caramelized, this is a keeper, so easy if someone is coming to dinner, Many thanks.
The wind is terrible, all the fences are rocking, I hate the wind it does so much damage.
KM hope your trees are OK.
Animals all curled up on the sofa, the fire is going, but I think the wind has got them a bit nervous, they usually never move from the fire.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 31-08-2025

Oh I'm glad you enjoyed it. I found it so easy, and it reheated quite well for the following night too. I will definitely make it again, I have to use up all those frozen peaches in my bottom freezer drawer, before the season turns and I have new ones to replace them!

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 01-09-2025

Lovely out there when I opened the door for the Tatt. She likes to race out onto the deck and grab a morning drink from the rain bowl I have out there for her. There is a fresh water bowl inside on her tray, distilled water too no less, but no that is only for emergency quaffing when the weather is too bad to allow for rain water. As for tap, forget it, the chlorine stink puts her right off, though I will admit I have got so used to it now I rarely notice it.

But those blustery winds seem to have passed, so I might do a little scoot down to the beach today, I could do with a bit of salt breeze and that glorious harbour. Amazing how it boosts mood and resets the soul for the week ahead...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 01-09-2025

morning ladies Smile We still have loads of wind and it's cold. Just by looking out the windows, it seems we have survived the storm. Will have a closer look when the Furry One and I 'do the rounds' a little later on.

Yesterday I noticed one of our little South Pacific iris' is in flower. So early Heart but no complaints here. And our burgundy magnolia is beginning to bloom as well. Can't wait for the new magnolia to bloom but it's a little later in the spring season. We planned it so one finishes flowering and the other begins.

Our son phoned yesterday to tell us more town houses are being built around them and there is one 'hold out' in the block. He was laughing when he told us, the property owner had painted 'fu** off, I'm NOT selling' in huge letters on his fence. He obviously was getting sick of developers asking to buy his property lol. Imagine that being painted on a fence here lol. Son is also really excited about his upcoming trip to Japan.

I've finished the hardanger piece and am happy with it overall. A few mistakes but that's OK. I'll take a pic later and post it. Today I'll cut out and overlock some fabric, wind the new threads onto bobbins for this cross stitch and maybe even start it. I can do that while MrK's PC is here later this morning. She is an absolute godsend.

Time to put the steroids into the Furry One's ears. He hates it but needs must.

My hardanger finished yesterday.
