RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 07-09-2025

OMG, I had a PT Cruiser, sliver, do not know why I bought it, but I did like it, the back seats came out totally and you could fit a double mattress in the space, great space for the dogs, but did it like petrol, you could all most see the gauge dropping, very heavy body.
I sold it to a man who worked at a car museum down Palmerston North way, he wanted it for his daughter's wedding, flew to Auckland and drove it back, the reason he was interested was because I had put in the ad that it had nitrogen in the tyres, he believed that if someone did that they must have looked after the car.
Gosh Popeye small world, you mentioning that car, I do not think about it, but I often reminisce about the mini's I owned, maybe because I had so much with them

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-09-2025

Thats it Kazza and GJW..

Wow I dont like heavy gas guzzlers so perhaps it was good we never got one. Mind you would be handy if going on trips and you needed a nap lol

For a while my Anglia didn't have a front left seat. I took it out when I used to do rural newspaper deliveries.. it just made it easier lol.

Time to do some painting.

When I was a kid - back in the dim dark ages - & lived in the country, our neighbours were a wealthy retired couple who'd been farmers. She imported a baby Jaguar car - gorgeous thing, all white with red leather seats - & gave every kid a ride around the block in it; we all thought we were the cat's pyjamas. Smile

And many years later, I was in town walking past a shop & happened to glance in their window - & there was a red Ferrarri! Which I immediately fell in love with, whipped out my camera to take a photo only to find I'd run out of film. No idea what kind it was but I remember the motor could be seen through the back window.
It was more like a piece of sculpture than a car.

I am pretty sure my love of Jags is genetic. My grandfather had one, an s type in peach, brand new off the boat in the late fifties, with walnut dash and cream leather seats. He put a Haeger panther in the rear window.

We were not allow to touch anything in that car. On pain of one of his looks. Which btw, were quite  terrifying, lol.  Big Grin

My fabric painting fun suggests splodges are harder to do than one might think, but the underside of the duvet is rough painted pink stripes and those are so much easier to do. So pink stripes it is...

That doesn't look too bad at all.

Yes, this jag had that lovely walnut dash & it smelled lovely, probably the new leather seats.

Did a bit more digging, lucky I did as I noticed that all that ivy pruning had caused two palings to fall into neighbours yard, no clue where he is so blocked it up with what i could find because Madame le Dog was looking at it rather too carefully for my liking.

Mercury bill this month - $119. That's with no heat pump. I might actually go turn it off at the switch now, and save that little drain of power. I like that it is continuing downwards though... And I LOVE staying in credit after it hits. Might be my Scottish genes, might be my Mum's budgeting lessons!

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 07-09-2025

Wow Lilith glad you saw it before said Canine made an escape, missing babies is deeply saddening for everyone. I turn into a mess and cant focus to do anything.

Fanny rang, we had a long catch up.

I did get some painting done tho.

Washing in and folded towels love drying in the wind and sun.. Well I figure they do cos they always smell and feel soo good.

morning ladies Smile It's going to be a lovely day once the frost clears. Didn't get to see the Blood Moon Sad

Pillowcases look good, OHH. A nice splash of colour.

Our power bill has another two weeks to go but we're heading for $215. We have had the big water pump on to fill the tank and that takes quite a bit of power. And we are still using the heatpump as well as the dryer on wet days. I hate having washing on airers inside and now MrK is using a walker, there isn't much room for one anyway.

Back into the garden for me this morning, I should finish weeding the big garden today all going to plan. And the birds need more bird pudding. This will be the last lot I make for them. The days are warming up and they need to find their own food. Sadly, it will be the last we see of the waxeyes until next winter.

Our son flies out from Perth to Tokyo tomorrow. He's nervous but excited. His biggest worry is catching the train to his hotel with his mate as all the signage is in Japanese lol. I said if you do get lost, at least you'll be having an adventure Tongue

The Furry One is wanting to play, not too shabby for a nearly 15 year old dog Heart

Morning all
Fine

KM the transport system in Japan is fantastic.  We used Google maps for the 3 days before we joined our tour guide.
Google maps tells you what station entrance what platform and where to stand to get on/off. The Japanese people also very helpful  Google translate brilliant too. Your son will have a blast

Been to gym, shower next then make sponge to fill with strawberries and cream. We meeting friends and having lunch in cafe then back  here  for tea and spomge.

We had very enjoyable day up the coast with DD DSIL and DGD1 our k9 met their k9 on neutral territory and all went very well.
We went and met Henry the donkey he enjoyed the carrot DG1 took to feed him the owners have cut and framed an opening in their fence so Henry can interact with and watch people.

Enjoy your day

Morning everyone

A stunning day out.. Hope to find some time in the front porch today.

I've never been a big movie person but on Dianne's recommendation I watched Benjamin Button last night. It was good.

The make up was absolutely fantastic.. and a good story line. Its also the first movie I have seen with Brad Pit in lol.. So it was a late night, well it was morning by the time I went to bed.

So I didn't see the blood moon either. Some good photos were shown on Breakfast.

Dishes then games today.. Then more painting.

The breaking news about the man shot this morning near Waitomo , I wonder if it was Tom Phillips, may have been the only way he could have got out. I hope for the kids sake that if it was then they will come out..

Have a fab day all

Yeah those kids have been through sooo much. It will be really hard for them.

Maybe Tom thought it was his only way out. I guess we will all have our own conclusions, perhaps his helpers stopped helping after recent events.

I hope the kids get heaps of help. And they will at least have these past nearly 4 years to remember him by.

I know what it was like to lose my dad young. It could mess them up for years.

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-09-2025

Stuff are reporting it was Tom Phillips and police are searching for two children. I always had a gut feeling this would end badly, that he wasn't going to give up easily. A police officer has also been shot.

Oh no - those poor kids. How will they ever get over this, the poor wee souls.
I so hope they'll find the two missing kids without any further violence. And rather than putting them in care, allow family to have them with support from professionals.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-09-2025

They said a couple of weeks ago they had already been transferred int OT Care.

Suicide by cop springs to my mind.. I dont think it was ever going to end peacefully.

The kids may have missed out of education etc, buy they will know how to survive thats for sure.

I hope they find them soon.

In other news, we had a tech from genesis here for a couple of neighbours, they are putting in smart meters. But, once they opened the board they discovered asbestos, so now the landlords have to remediate and replace the full boards so these guys can install new meters. Palaver expected, lol...

My sister friend Erin whose birthday it is today is going to have 2 massive things to remind her on each birthday..

But its been a stunning but cool day... and now ill go make some more dishes, since the bench is clear lol

My place has asbestos cement board soffits - very common for builds from the 1970s and earlier. The stuff is ok if you leave it alone.
