RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 08-09-2025 (08-09-2025, 05:50 PM)Praktica Wrote:(08-09-2025, 12:38 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: In other news, we had a tech from genesis here for a couple of neighbours, they are putting in smart meters. But, once they opened the board they discovered asbestos, so now the landlords have to remediate and replace the full boards so these guys can install new meters. Palaver expected, lol... That is exactly what I pointed out to my slightly horrified neighbours. They weren't aware that the underlay to their current kitchen and bathroom floor coverings also contains asbestos, so refurbs layer on top of that rather than go through the hassle of stripping out. Only to be expected in buildings this old. And I remember pulling up fibre cement boards that topped the deck in my last Taupo property, and stashing them under that deck before nailing down a zillion timber planks. By hand. It taught me how to use a hammer lol... I did like that house, especially the kitchen. White twin ceramic sink unit, pink benchtops, glass cooktop, rimu trim, oh it was lovely that kitchen. ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 08-09-2025 Wow what a busy few days everyone has has. I've been reading a long each day and completely forgot to post I keep forgetting I've posted and should continue Squash went well. Blardy hard to hit that small black ball. We will definitely go again and practice. We had a ball Just got back from dinner out with my sip and family from Aussie. Was really nice and definatly a nice treat RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() Yep, the vinyl in our loo and laundry needs replacing and we were told they would put the new stuff over the top because it is so old it has an asbestos backing. Our old meter was also sitting on asbestos but they whipped it out without any protection at all. We told them what it was, but they just shrugged it off and carried on. Made sure the Furry One and us were nowhere near them when they did it. Asbestos is hidden in all sorts of places. Great you enjoyed squash, zoe ![]() The back garden is weeded, one more fenceline to do before I start out on the roadside. There is growth starting and a couple of plants need dividing. And I have an even better Cunning Plan for Litchfield Angel ![]() Grocery shopping for us today, the pantry is looking a bit sad. I need to buy MrK some Gatorade (sp) for when he has his colonoscopy. The registrar I spoke to suggested that would be better than water as it has electrolytes. Better get cracking, washing machine has finished and MrK will need help dressing. have a good day ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 09-09-2025 Morning all Raining again just wish we could have more than 2 days without rain. Noticed new growth on the rose in our back garden and pear tree has lots of buds when it b,ossumed last year we had no idea it was a pear. Had nice time catching up with friends for lunch yesterday not sure what I will do today. DH is going to attend Parkinsons support group meeting this afternoon this is significant as he is not much of a joiner I think it will be good Received our power bill less than last month but we used more power compared to last year August was cold and wet bring on the sun. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-09-2025 Morning everyone Damp here, not sure if the lawn will be done or not. But its done by a ride on so it wont make that much difference. My power bill in too, $148 which is heaps better than the last at $185. Beep Beep Madam is back chatting me, She is sitting on the breakfast bar, which is something I dont like , but Im under the lappy, my breakfast, a hottie and blanket and Im not moving. And she knows that too I realized why it hit me last night when they found the kids. Years ago my friends 3 kids had gone to their fathers. His new wife didn't like them and she locked them out of the house. Son couldn't get hold of his mother so he phoned me, they had a shed they could get out of the harsh summer sun in Napier. But had no food or drink. So I had to talk him down of his hate of the police, which was his fathers attitude. Got the cops to pick them up, booked flights. The cops fed them and got them onto the plane.. I had never been soo pleased to get them home. Their mother wasn't a lot of help, she was a mess... I got crying drunk had never done that before. Yesterday just hit me like a wall. The same relief. I hope they slept well last night, although I get what they will be going through with the loss of their dad too. I have to do my peaches today and pop them in the freezer. But after that I have no jobs that need to be done. My Temu will arrive today and Ill finally have a full vase of Lillies. Blardy Fanny text at 6-10 am.. just cos she is awake it doesn't mean I am... I will text her and remind her no early communication Unless its life threateningly urgent.. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-09-2025 You can turn that phone off or down ya know popeye, lol... We are such slaves to our devices! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-09-2025 (09-09-2025, 09:20 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: You can turn that phone off or down ya know popeye, lol... We are such slaves to our devices! I could but have always had phones close to me since I got the call my sister had been run over by a milk truck in her bed. It was a freezing morning and I decided that the phone needs to be an and near my deaf ears. lol RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 09-09-2025 My plans for afternoon fell foul of my printer running out one colour. DH out with car. Was planning on printing off pattern I had down loaded for harem pants. Found some drapey animal print rayon in stash thought why not. Could make nice lounge round home pants or they might look ok and I venturevout in them. Popped to NL when DH got home could have bought a new printer for cost 4 cartridges of ink still gold card knocked off $45 Spagetti bolenaise for dinner RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-09-2025 Ridiculous isn't it? Built in obsolescence when the consumables out cost the device that requires them... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-09-2025 Its ridiculous that the ink is dearer than the printer. I never got my printer working so the new ink that I paid for has probably dried up. I got 22 breakfasts of Peaches out of the 3 kilo tin which cost $6. so less than $2 a week. all cut and packed up some frozen. I had a lamb chop and some cheesy mashed tatties with a good drop of pepper in. And discovered Madam likes the potato, probably more the cheese lol. Got 2 hours painting in, Im enjoying it but haven't started on the purples and mauves yet... but it wont be long.. My order arrived and Im most pleased. My Hurricane lamp is now Much fuller with the Lillies and I love it. They were a bit squashed but they all fit in regardless. I got these little hanging things which say " I hope we are friends until we die, then I hope we stay Ghost Friends and walk through walls and scare the shit out of people" Thats pretty much Me, Erin, Dianne, Jo and Gayle lol.. and thats who they are for.. lol I need an extra one for me tho. I also got a wooden heart with a dog paw cut out of it, but I should have got two cos both Dianne and Jo have lost their pooches recently. Its those little things that we dont see so cheaply here which is why I like temu. RE: You can never have enough... - Praktica - 09-09-2025 After two colour inkjet printers died with errors I couldn't clear, I bought a monochrome laser printer - much cheaper to run, and I don't miss the colour. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-09-2025 I can beat that. I use a typewriter. Three in fact. On rotation... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() I really hate that it is cheaper to buy a new printer than the ink and like Praktica's idea. When our printer dies, I might just do the same. GJW, I think it was you who mentioned your washing line needs replacing. The last lot of line I bought was from Mitre 10 in a 'bargain bin' as the sales lady said no one wanted 'purple washing lines'. As if I cared what colour line our washing was hanging on lol. It doesn't make the washing any drier lol. And besides, I like purple ![]() The lawns were mowed while I was at the supermarket so didn't get a chance to ask about moving the concrete bits. They were trying to beat the rain so came earlier in the week. The Furry One and I have done the 'garden rounds' in between raindrops ![]() have a good one. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 10-09-2025 Morning everyone Sun and grey today. My lawn didn't get done yesterday, used to be done on a Monday. But its not that long anyway. My line didn't get changed last week like it was to be apparently. Same sort of day for me today. No housework to do lol. So ill get my games done and paint the afternoon away. Paul is dropping in for a parcel.. Dianne is coming in tomorrow for the two Parcels Paul doesn't know about lol.. She got the grandies a full set each of the Woolworths disc thingees. He thinks its a ploy which they are, but these will be for collecting not playing with. David just text, Mike who was in the painting group is hanging on, perhaps waiting for someone. Colleen leaves for Wellington on Monday.. He wont guilt us into going in. I wont go without Di and she wont go cos of the bug breeding grounds in there. She cant afford to get even sicker. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 10-09-2025 Morning all Fine at the moment more rain forcast ![]() Been to gym, had breakfast neeccto vacuum then the day is mine. Will glue paper together sobthatcI can trace off pant pattern might even get them cut out and stitched. DH hoping to get DD big k9 groomed this morning before the wet arrives. The k9 is half stripped needs his legs tidied up he is such a handsome boy. He's an Airedale Still no word from Roma hope she is ok Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-09-2025 Our new tenant is an ex landscaping contractor. I feel sure that he/she is in dire need of a nice welcoming cuppa & perhaps a biscuit or five...? ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - GJW - 10-09-2025 Mica, I use after market toners, when I first needed new cartridges just about had a coron7at the price, so went on TM and got a ser off there, and have always used them, the printer is really old but still goes. When we were kids we had an Airedale, very rarely see them, then and now, he came from Waihi, was called McGinty, because from a young age he took an instant dislike to the neighbour's goat, neighbour's were apparently called McGinty. Just finished bathing the dogs, all the towels washed and on the line. KM, Thanks for that, I have already rewired it, I bit the bullet and purchased the plastic coated wire cord, Hope it lasts longer. OHH, You could be having loads of fun with your new neighbour, everyone needs a neighbour with some experience in some things, so long as they do not overtake everything Right had better get my skates on and walk these critters and then do the thing I hate the most, pay some bills. Have a great day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 10-09-2025 I was not in the mood for company today, despite it being Wednesday. But I went down to the village anyway, thinking maybe the sea air and the wind would blow it all away. It didn't but... I got handed a nice bit of kitchen stuff my friend cannot use, and thought I might. I picked up two good picture books at the library and had a lovely chat with my favourite librarians. And on the way home popped into Wild Wheat to spoil myself with one of their pies for dinner, and a couple of their ciabatta rolls for the freezer (they make the best burger buns) and got handed an extra - because it looked lonely left behind, lol... And I am still grumpy! Might be the wind... Or maybe I just need a nana nap! |
