RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 10-09-2025 oh wow, an Airedale ![]() Lucky you, OHH! you win the nieghbour lottery lol. We've been to Thames for MrK's CT scan and then 'popped over the hill' to Tairua to see what was happening there and for a fish and chip lunch. Before the kids were born we had a section at Tairua but sold it to buy our house when I was pregnant. It's my one real regret, wish we had never sold it. The rain has passed over so it was a lovely day ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 10-09-2025 Thats it.. one of our German shepherds was a mix of shepherd and Airedale . She looked like a shepherd but had a strip of curls down her spine, as wide as the top of her body.. Loved that Dog, she arrived as Sasha but ended up being Dolly. The wind is getting up here, if it rains the window will leak again. Lawn has been done, Its nice listening but there is no way I would want to mow this lawn. Finished the Hydrangea section of the picture.. the red rose and Daffodils left. Dianne and I are shopping together again tomorrow.. she has to come into town to do her bloods for Friday so we will do the oppies and new world has a 3 day sale on. Doesn't look like too much on special tho. But we will go in anyway. her Sister will meet up at some stage, but she doesn't really like me and doesn't trust me so I cant mention that Im going with Di to chemo on Friday. David is still trying to guilt us into going and seeing Colleen before she leaves on Monday.. I told him it wont happen cos that might give Annie the idea we will go back and see her.. told him we are in a rock and a hard place. Just said to Dianne if he mentions it again he will get his head bitten off again.. He's a slow learner. I wont hold my breath but he text back and said he would respect our desicion... I told him good cos I didnt want to have a hissy with him RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-09-2025 Good morning everyone. The sun is up and not too chilly. Having a day with Dianne today. she has her bloods to do for tomorrow. then we are oppying and going to see the 3 day sale at New world. I looked last night there wasn't much but I hadn't planned on going to Pukekohe this week anyway. Then we will bring lunch home . Missy will love that.. she comes out with Dianne, Erin and Gayle are here.. She isnt a social bunny. I did what I told her I would do and haven't been out since Friday. and I've enjoyed it too. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() We were very lucky yesterday weather wise; the wind had blown the rain off the Coromandel Peninsula and the sun shone for us. We were early for MrK's scan in Thames, so they saw him straight away. We left early as the rain had stopped, and it was easier to get him into the car lol. I suggested lunch at Tairua seeing as we had ample time. It's been at least 35 years since we've been there. Had our fish and chips by the estuary, a tiki tour around town, saw the house that's been built on MrK's old section, and came home. Nothing much has changed, but when did the pub go? We now have at least a two week wait for the scan results as there is a shortage of radiologists. Fingers crossed the results arrive in time for MrK's next doctor appointment. Back out in the garden for me. One more garden to weed before I weed and compost the vegie garden. It shouldn't take long, and the ground will be prepared for this summer's crops. The lavender is beginning to flower; the bees will be happy. If I can't find smaller salvias to plant around the vegie garden, I might plant lavender. Anything to attract the bees to help pollination. Have a good one ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-09-2025 I had an idea yesterday. I have a stand of plastic shelves, all with holes drilled in them. Thought I might put some potting mix into them and plant strawberries. they could live in the front porch. Would be easy enough to cover if I need to keep the birds out and for the bees to get in to pollinate them. The going price for plants is 5 for $20, I have the potting mix so Ill get some when I stop at Gayles on the way home tomorrow RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 11-09-2025 Morning all Not a cloud to be seen so nicexto see the sun pity I will be indoors as my day fir warehouse. Finished the neck on jerseyvladt night triedcitvon and the neck was sticking out from my body so reverse stitched and started again with few decrease rows. Looks better will try it on later. Got rayon animal print pants cut out and partially sewn up need to add waist band it will be interesting to try them on. Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 11-09-2025 I love mad pants for summer. My favourites are a pair of black loose ones with big white polka dots. With my red sandals I feel very happy clownish, lol. I have acquired a top with dots in reverse, so they will be one of my options this coming summer. And KM, what about clary sage? Different coloured flowers and low growers. Or the culinary sages, they too come in different leaf forms... RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 11-09-2025 I hadn't thought of clary sage, OHH. Thanks for that! I need low growing plants as they will be planted under the espaliered grape and apple. And I don't want to pull the old vegie garden out when bee loving plants can be planted there. The last garden inside the fenceline weeded, only the vegie plot to do. So very satisfying playing in the dirt. One of the large wooden troughs MrK made me has its bottom rotted away. I'll have a tutu at repairing it, no doubt under MrK's 'supervision'. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 11-09-2025 Hope all goes with Mr K's results KM. That shelf idea sounds well worth trying Popeye. The two alarm system went off this morning - 1/2 an hour early. I ignored them. Madame le Cat went to sit on the windowsill. I knew she'd evetually try a flying leap, so put my knees up. She climbed up my legs & looked down at me from my knees...fairly sure the look was intended to convey 'Resistance is futile human'. So obviously I was up early this morning, dammit. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-09-2025 Had a lovely day with Dianne today and with her sister too. We met at the supermarket and then kept creating traffic jams.. Oops lol. Then we brought chicken rolls and coleslaw home had lunch, Lorraine went on her way and Di and I did two oppies. I got a dish draining rack, Yay its like new. I hated putting washed dishes on the bench, a another centerpiece/tray for the coffee table.. a Black cardy and a light grey one with a hoodie. But both with long sleeves but nice and light. But my spoil were two large serving platters the same Pohutukawa decoration as my two tiered cake stand and a teapot and cup set. Originally from Stevens or Farmers, but I've never brought any of them new. Ive been thinking about having Dianne, Lorraine, David and Caron around before Christmas so they will be perfect. Her Hair is starting to drop. But she said they had fun with the wig lady yesterday. Who advised the artificial ones are far better to control and she found one close to how her hair is today. So that's good. Will be up early tomorrow as I have to be at hers around 7am, cos the taxi will arrive around 7-30am. I've often wondered about Harum pants.. I imagine they are totally comfortable. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 11-09-2025 Well, THAT was one hell of a surprise! Was sitting at the computer - had some music on so didn't hear someone come through front door - & suddenly there was youngest grandson standing there! They moved to Brisbane earlier in the year so wasn't expecting either he or his partner to turn up. She came over earlier in the year for a week or so with her family & then he managed to get cheap flights so just came over to surprise us all. DIL will be getting a bit of a surprise any minute now,too when she gets home from work. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-09-2025 (11-09-2025, 03:28 PM)Lilith7 Wrote: Well, THAT was one hell of a surprise! Oh that is cool Lilith, but soo exciting. Enjoy having them there. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 11-09-2025 How lovely for you and the family. Some surprises are great fun! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 11-09-2025 The Designer of the artwork on the china is Angie Dennis. She does lovely Kiwiana stuff. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-09-2025 Morning everyone Still dark .. But Im up dressed and eating breakfast without rushing it. lol Have a good day all. mine will probably be long. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() ![]() OMG Lilith, how wonderful. What an awesome surprise and I bet your DIL was in tears. I know I would be. It's my turn for a blood test today and I'll pick up a script from the chemist. Waikato phoned saying they had sent MrK's script for clexane to our chemist. All part of the prep he has to do for this colonoscopy. I also have to pick the Furry One's meds up from the vet. While in town, I'll buy some bags of compost for the vegie garden and a sharpie for labelling garden stuff. I've pretty much used most of the compost we have made, and the other bin isn't ready for emptying yet. MrK's PC lady will be here later this morning but before then I'll do a bit of housework. If the weather clears, I'll weed the vegie garden. It shouldn't take long to do. Otherwise, I'll be pottering about indoors. MrK needs help dressing ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 12-09-2025 Morning all Overcast but looking at rain radar we got alot rain coming our way. What lovely surprise Lilith. Indoors day today might start quilting a xmas panel that I bought 22 years ago better late than never I suppose. Will use it as a runner for Xmas decorations. Might also do some baking later once DH out of the kitchen he will be prepping the lamb forelegs shanks to cook in slow cooker. The forelegs shanks are smaller(much cheaper) than the hind limb ones. Keep dry Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-09-2025 I always have the same grin when I think of lamb shanks. My Dad called them the 'cook's privilege', but I noticed they always ended up on his plate when Sundsy roast time came around. The day when I finally cooked a lamb roast and scored that delicacy for myself was a very special day. Back when lamb was an every day food and chicken wasn't, lol! RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-09-2025 We've just had a good round of thunder, the Furry One must be deaf as he slept through it. I think blood tests can wait until Monday. Not going out in this weather if I don't have to. Yummmm lamb shanks. They used to be a cheap cut of meat but as soon as they became trendy in cafes, up went the price. Still, they are soooooo good in the slow cooker. We're having a slow cooked pork chop on a base of onion, celery and apple sprinkled with good old Colemans Mustard powder. It makes a yummy gravy. |
