RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 12-09-2025 Like the sound of your pork chop My pants are relegated to charity sewing. Love the animal print didn't like the cut and fit. Someone will like them. Will buy more fabric if it presents itself for another edition in the future. Rain not far off here moisture in the air. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-09-2025 Despite dressing for spring, I have the most fragrant pea and ham soup on the stove in the big pot, the only one that takes a full ham hock. With carrot, celery, onion, dried green peas, chilli powder, ginger, coriander branch (the plant is pretty big), mint tops, and crushed garlic, with lemon zest to activate the greens, and a heap of black pepper. That wind out there can blw as hard as it likes, I am set for the weekend! RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 12-09-2025 (11-09-2025, 03:13 PM)popeye333 Wrote: Had a lovely day with Dianne today and with her sister too. They are - I've got a couple of pair. They're good in summer but cotton's not quite as cool as viscose. Mine are baggy -ish around the bottom so when I bike wearing them I use those fabric thingys, scrunchies, I think they are (which are meant to tie your hair) round the bottoms to prevent getting caought in chain or pedal, - so far, so good. The sneaky toad youngest grandson pulled the same trick on his Mum, Dad & his sister - she cried. He filmed it on his phone so he could show me. He's so lovely that lad & despite his being a Taurus,we agree on loads of things. He turned up this morning & he took me to go & get a new vacuum, mine died ages ago & have been using his dad's (Sweetie darling no 2) spare one ever since, so good to have a better one..she said hopefully. I'm really so lucky to have such brilliant grandkids. I must have done something really excellent in a past life to deserve them. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-09-2025 Soup done. It is really good. I may have overdone the chilli a tad. But that is what creamy additions are for... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 12-09-2025 Just put up ther Friday funny, Rowan Atkinson, welcome to hell & Danny Bhoy, The problem with Noah's ark. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-09-2025 Hey us Taurean's are Good Peoples lol... sounds like you have a good one too Lilith.. Mind you my twin brother is the total opposite of me ,,, but I've always been the leader he is the follower. That wind is cold but the hospital warm. Well it was an education being in where they do the chemo. I think Di had 5 bags of stuff in all The chemo part only taking 18 minutes. She had a little pain in the wrist hand where the lure was but otherwise flue through. ate lunch with no troubles.. There were 9 people having it done and the nurses were continuously on their feet keeping up with all the bottles and timers. and as one left the next came in. She said having me talk with her and keeping her distracted helped so I will go whenever she wants me to. I didn't stay when we got back I told her to go in and rest a bit. Wow I didn't know we had to do clexane for a colonoscopy KM. My dr wants me to have one.. I dont know why and for some reason it annoys me I have never had any trouble in that department apart from when I take big pain meds. Ill be phoning them on Monday and telling them I will make an appointment after I have spoken to my Dr. I dont know why he wants me to do it. We have never discussed it. Picked up the egg beater for Gayle and dropped it off. Its a good solid one. And the sneaky madam had got me a snuggly hoodie is what Im calling it.. Its long, it actually reaches the floor lol.. but it has huge pockets on the front and a hoodie and long sleeves. She had a pretty green chenille blanket she had crochet on the table. She said you have a choice, you an have that one or wait a little while for a red one which will be bigger.. Of course I said the red lol.. Oddly no one has ever given me a crochet blanket and its something Ive always wanted. Something that someone has put their love and care into. So Im feeling very spoilt. Had LFT / KFC for lunch it was so good. So No cooking for me tonight.. Ill have fruit most likely and if Im peckish Ill have some Vogal's Toast. Haven't had any in years so Di gave me a few slices of hers yesterday. Ill have a quick play on here then spend some time with my girl RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 12-09-2025 MrK has to have the clexane as they will be removing pollops so it's a minor surgery. You may not need it for a regular colonoscopy. We will have to repeat it all when he has his hip done. Which I rather wish I'd known before I married one... ![]() ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 12-09-2025 (12-09-2025, 04:26 PM)kiwimade64 Wrote: MrK has to have the clexane as they will be removing pollops so it's a minor surgery. But I wont be having it until I know why he wants it. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 12-09-2025 I made the decision a few years back to say no to tests and procedures that were unpleasant unless they were absolutely beneficial in outcome, so I hope any of us having one has the same positive results. Like my new hip. Which interestingly enough is more challenging at times than the old one, lol. Isn't that often the way? Still, I did get to bend enough to paint my toenails today, something I couldn't have done before the op, so there's one positive outcome. Can't sleep on that side for long, but lilac nails are very pretty... Hubby just got the info in the mail that he will be getting the testing kit in a couple of weeks. If so, maybe something showed up on the test? Its just for me why have it done when I dont have any symptoms of anything and there's the chance they could make me bleed and being on two blood thinners would make that spiral. I just feel that its invasive and at this stage no reason why Im being asked to do it.. he will have to give me a bloody good reason why he wants it. I would say my knee is about the same to a degree. The pain is different to before hand. Thankfully Ive always been very bendy so reaching my toenails has always and still is possible. But I can understand why it would be harder with a new hip. Just saw the weather, Hunnie Im glad you made the soup. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 13-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() If there is no rain, I'll weed the vege garden, it won't take long to do. The standard roses could use a weed before they become too big to work under as well. When I'm in Hamilton next I'll need to visit Bunnings to buy new gardening gloves. Both pairs have been worn to a frazzle. The cross stitch is coming along slowly. I had forgotten how it's a stop-start project as you change colours. The last cross stitch I did was 1997 at the hospital while MrK had all his tests and first heart surgery. But there is something satisfying as I highlight the areas stitched on the pattern. The Furry One is ready to do the 'garden rounds' and the birds are looking for their dripping and peanut butter. Hope they enjoy it as it will be the last of the bird food I put out for the spring/summer. RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 13-09-2025 Morning all Overcadt might rain Need to leave soon. Got 2hr door duty to do at quilt guild exhibition Transmission gully makes travelling up to coast so quick. DD, DGD1 and DH coming later in morning . DGD1 is wants to see her quilt that DD made and I quilted hanging . We will have lunch somewhere and possibly call in at a school fair being held nearby. About half way through quilting xmas panel Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 13-09-2025 Morning everyone Still having large gusts of wind. But the sun is out. So Madam is happy. Got a shock last night.. My usual water use is less than $10.. its $150 plus this time.. so I contacted the owner. I wont be paying it thats for sure. and she can sort it out. You can see from the last nearly 5 months what my usage is. Ill have a kitchen day today.. Will precook some sausages I got yesterday and freeze them. They take a little more space but also means fast cooking at the other end. Need to get rid of the left overs etc in the fridge. And do some dishes and put the rice on again. Then I will start the Rose section of my picture. KM when I was waiting in hospital I knitted hats and scarves, in the eyelash yarn that was popular back then. Sold them while in the hospital too before they moved me up to Auckland Hospital for the surgery lol. Now I take colouring books to hospital . sometimes if I have a planned trip coming I grab a couple of trashy magazines from the oppy to take with me and leave for others. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 13-09-2025 Sun is shining lovely day here at home Cooler up the coast regretted not taking my puffer jacket. Quilt exhibition had alot of beautiful quilts. DGD1 was very excited to look for her quilt she did stop and look at quilts on the way she so good for 4yr old. Found her quilt and some of people around twigged that it was hers lots of questions about whether the quilt lived on her bed or in a cupboard. Of course it lives on her bed and used for making blanket huts. We asked her which quilt was her fav in whole show - my quilt ! ![]() We had a lovely lunch at one of our favorite cafes before coming home. So we have had a good day Sausages and salad for dinner RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 13-09-2025 Appears there was a leak on the road at the start of the month. Causing massive bills for Many people around here. The council will be getting a lot of phone calls tomorrow for sure. Got my jobs done and my new platters put in a safe place. Should only move if there is a massive earthquake and even then they are well protected. Dianne is having a not too happy day. Feels ok. But its the anniversary of her son passing today, and cos of everything that has happened this year, its got to her. They were going to get pizzas and go to their other son but his wife has a cold so they wont risk it. her sone was born with a malformed heart , they told them to take him home and love him. He would never walk, work or do anything. Well not only did he do all of the above but he was a good son. He had just proposed to his girlfriend, and they went to someone's birthday party. They got in their car to leave, he turned the car on and died. Just like that. I said he will be with his Nana that he adored so try not to be too sad. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 13-09-2025 That sounds lovely, Mica & well done for having been the favourite. I was getting up from the PC earlier & somehow kicked the hard drive thingy...oops. no sound, no image on screen. Had to ring sweetie darling no.2 - thankfully he was ably to come straight away & worked his magic, but once again showed just how dependant I am on both computer - & his expertise. Not that he's ever done actual study of computers; he had a mate who was one of those computer whizzes & learnt it from him. Luckily for me! (Yesterday, 04:00 PM)popeye333 Wrote: Appears there was a leak on the road at the start of the month. Causing massive bills for Many people around here. Oh, that's tragic Popeye, it always when someone young dies. He sounded like a lovely young man, and taking more after his mothers side than his fathers. I used to find her husband very gruff. But now I know him better, he isnt gruff. Just confident and he loves his family massively. Yesterday he left us to go use the bathroom and when we came out he was standing there talking to a young man whose partner also very young was having her first chemo. It got too hard for him. Di's man was able to put his mind at ease, they had been through it before. I said to Di today sometimes males need males to talk to him. The young man appreciated it.. And Im betting they will all become friends cos they do chemo on the same days, same shifts. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 14-09-2025 Cool and wet out there according to the Tatt who went out in the dark for her morning estate inspection. Something is bashing around in the wind, I hope it isn't my scooter tarp, with luck it is something outside my responsibility. The birds are awake and noisy, always a good sign, the forecast is for a bright sunny day which would be a relief after yesterday's dismal bluster. It would encourage me to actually get out of bed, lol... I did get a little bit done yesterday, pulled some old framed artwork down from the high shelf in the wardrobe and decided they were okay to discard into my op shop bag and then my immediate neighbour popped in around 4pm and discovered a couple of pieces she really liked, so that has lightened the weight of the bag a little. It is always fun seeing which pieces of work appeal to which people, these are two very abstracted paint and inks on textured paper towelling of all things, that I did decades ago during a workshop in Wellington. Rough paper because it was freely available in the school bathrooms and that workshop was expensive, too expensive to allow me to invest in supplies beyond what I had with me. Interestingly enough the paper turned out to be a wonderful substrate for the water based acrylics and inks, absorbant and strong, keeping the colours as clear and bright as the day I applied them. A base layer that worked rather well. I never stitched into that stuff, but I suspect it would take the needle just as well as it did the fluid colours... Might try that one day, lol... |
