Your yellow magnolia is way more advanced than ours, which is nowhere near flowering.   It was planted last year and is covered in buds, but as they grow I think they are all leaf buds.  Can't remember its exact name - Honey something.   At least it wasn't knocked back by the frosts, which severely burnt the Cameo and Starwars.

Our best Magnolia is Denudata "Gere", a late blooming hybrid.   It is presently covered in elegant ivory flowers and buds, and because it blooms slightly later it escapes the late frosts.

This is Magnolia 'Butterflies' and the flowers are a yellow version of the white magnolia that flowers first. We only planted it this time last year so are thrilled we have flowers coming on already. I guess planting permanent trees is a sign we plan to stay.

And it is a gift to the future...

RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 16-09-2025

morning ladies Smile woahhh, we had some rain overnight!

I agree, OHH, a tree is a gift to the future. Heart

The results from my blood test came back last evening and I've nailed the cholesterol and every other thing they tested for. Am quite chuffed with myself as I was 'stress eating' while MrK was in hospital and my levels were all over the place.

Our daughter is calling in on Saturday as she will be nearby. It will be great to see her, and she can take the antique tea trolley back with her. There's no room for the trolley now MrK is using a walker, and they have a use for it. She can also deliver our granddaughter's birthday pressie lol. That will save us postage Tongue

Voting papers for the local elections arrived yesterday. I admire anyone who is prepared to put themselves out there even if I disagree with their views. They are braver than me, that's for sure.

One more dose of steroids in the Furry One's ears and he's done and dusted. He tolerates it now but hates me for a good hour afterwards lol.

Speaking of the Furry One, lol, time for the garden rounds. He certainly lets me know if I am off 'schedule' lol. This good boy loves routine.

Catch you later.

Morning all
Fine day hard to know what to wear at this time year.

Had fun making fabric sewing alot scraps together. Used it to cut out a mod cat. Have tried to add photo but file too big and can't seem to see a way to reduce the size using my tablet. Will sort that out when I actually quilt it and I'm  on my computer.

Off to quilt guild day meeting this morning  I will get the binding  on xmas runner done.

Tasked DH with the ironing he complained he didn't know what he was going to do today

Enjoy your day

Good morning everyone

We just had a short shower too.. I agree Mica Autmn and spring weather means several changes through the day..

Had a crap day yesterday, a weepy one for no reason, well frustration I think over the medical shite.. Really annoyed with my heart and the crap and limits that come with a mechanical valve. My body seems to be getting sensitive to the slightest change in diet. Sending the INR all over the place. But Dianne cheered me up even tho I hate to add more to her load.

Have to do a water test today. The landlord rang the water company. They reckon they couldn't read the meter in July cos of a Rock.. Yep there is a huge rock out there. Has been for many years.. But there are two gates they can come through to get to it.. And that doesn't account for everyone else in town having shocker bills.

My voting papers arrived yesterday too.. Interesting reading. Although I had pretty much made up my mind as quite a few of our candidates go in the local FB groups. I certainly wont be voting for Brown as mayor. Don't like that man.

Since I need a couple of things up the road Ill pop out and stay out while the water test is on. I've filled buckets for the loo should I need them. Landlord is doing that. But she is taking her baby to the vet first.

Have a fab day all

That'll learn him, mica lol. Might help inspire him to find something to do lol.

Sigh... I'm unpicking the cross stitch as I've used the wrong colour, and it will stand out like dog's b****. At least I've found it now, rather than further into the design.

Left over homemade chook pie heating in the oven for lunch. We still haven't replaced the microwave and certainly don't miss it.

RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 16-09-2025

Ended up nipping over to Pukekohe.

A couple of things I needed and I have an appointment on Thursday so swapped shopping day. Will get anything I missed here.

Finally have some pretty shorter glasses. I dont know why we have had long ones for soo long. So Ill swap them over later. I know I kept the box the other ones came in so it will be somewhere. And after giving Fanny a pile of clothes hangers, I had to buy some more lol.. Only one bunch. Not buying any more clothes so I wont need any more lol

I think I mentioned things a few weeks ago about a lady in a black car nearly knocking an older woman down at Pak n save, with the number plate Pdycat... Well there she was at the Warehouse parked in the baby car parking.. And there were others, both disabled and normal available. Seems she thinks she owns the joint.. If I see her again I think Ill report any bad driving behavior.

Better get my games done so I can paint.

Oh, well done Mica! Hope the ironing survived.

That's good news on the blood test KM.

Did dreaded groceries earlier & then a visit from third eldest granddaughter - her birthday today & also that of their eldest boy, he's two. Plus their daughetr (2 months) & her little brother who surprised me the other day, turning up suddenly from Oz. He's taller than she is despite being younger. And he's taller than me,too....although that isn't saying much.

Someone has to be the Family shorty. I am out of my remaining siblings. I know I have nephews wayyy taller, Jay my sisters eldest is 6'5". Id say my twins Son must be close cos he makes my twin look short.

I have never stood straight since my heart opp, that with the sway back means I get to be the one closer to the footpath lol.

Well between photos being taken of the water, 17 units have been used.. Soo there must be a leak somewhere. They will have to get it checked out.

Hope they can find the leak, Popeye.

When I was a kid there was a friend of my parents who invariably remarked whenever she saw me, that 'good things come in small parcels'. It used to annoy me until one day mum gave me an idea for a reply...

So the next time she said  that good things come in small parcels, I said. 'Yes, & poison comes in small bottles.'

She never said it again... Rolleyes Big Grin Big Grin

Hahaha Love it Lilith...

The saying that I absolutely Hate is "Only the good die Young"    My mother said more often than it was needed... And she got stuck with me looking after her.. Its could have gone terribly bad.

It was only that we promised my stepfather we would look after her that I did it.

RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 16-09-2025

I sorted the wardrone, and hung groups of similar colours on stacked hangers, so now I have an organised space with more room. And only found one discard, so that means my last sort out was a good one, I still like all the stuff I kept. I need a scarf hanger though, might make myself one with the wire rings I have in the stash, hanging them on a single hanger wastes rail space in the tiddly cupboard.

I am enjoying picking spring clothes in the morning and wearing lighter fabrics, roll on summer!
