RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 26-09-2025 Popeye, I'm index over middle finger, although i did notice that my left hand went middle over index first till it felt odd, then fixed it. Hope your wee one's better,Zoe, tummy bugs aren't fun. Colder here today but managed a bit in garden before it rained. And now of course, the sun's out again. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 26-09-2025 ohhh tummy bugs are the pits, especially when it's school holidays! Hope your littlie gets over it quickly, zoe. And yes, get those lumps, bumps and moles checked. It was only because I noticed a mole on MrK's back had changed he had it checked. Yep, melanoma and it was removed with a warning from the registrar to keep up with the six monthly checks as melanoma is a sneaky form of cancer. It can appear anywhere, anytime. And here we are, a year later. MrK blames haymaking as a young lad and having his shirt off. Our nieghbour has been over to collect a frisbie that had landed on our roof. Sent his son up the ladder to get it lol. Well, he threw it, only fair he retrieves it ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - harm_less - 26-09-2025 My Dutch uncle had a flatpack ply coffin. Plain ply and the many grandkids were supplied with marker pens during the service to put their own messages on it. A nice personalised touch and good way to occupy kids during a fairly dry RC funeral. For my own 'garden orientated' Mum we chose a 'low impact' ply casket.Screen printed with a scenic photo of her beloved Mt Egmont. After living under the mountain for close to 90 years that name was ingrained into her psyche despite the ravages of Alzheimers ![]() Sorry to hear of Mr KM's prognosis. Enjoy life with him for as long as you can. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 26-09-2025 Friday funny, The two Ronnies. Ronnie Barker. RE: You can never have enough... - kazza - 26-09-2025 I can't reiterate enough the need to keep an eye on moles and freckles. In 2015 I had a mole removed from my shin after my GP insisted it be removed sooner rather than later. Turns out it was a rapidly spreading type of melanoma and had been caught just in time although I did have to have a further revision to take further margins leaving me with a rather large hole in my leg looking rather like a shark bite. It was a small price to pay and since then I have had several more suspicious moles and freckles removed thanks to my vigilant GP. Even to this day he checks every time I go to see him regardless of what I'm going for. He even admitted that he is paranoid about my case. I consider myself extremely lucky to still be here because if had been left any longer, well I probably wouldn't be here today. It's a nasty disease and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 26-09-2025 And yes when I see who ever is my next Dr I will get them to check what ever is on my back. MrP used to do it for me. We are lucky with the advancements and Drs who care to pick up these things. I must look into Flat Pack Coffins. Both my mother and MrP had coffins we never saw. Maybe I could diamond paint mine. But then no one will see it anyway. Sadly passing in one thing none of us can avoid. Although MrP thought he would live forever. I decided to get the bath and toilet mat.. simply cos I wanted it, and didn't feel like waiting. Groceries sorted and stayed within my budget Yay.. I put them in through the window but had a wee panic when I thought Madam had gone out the window.. but she was sunning herself in my bedroom thank goodness. Make memories KM.. And Hunnie thank you about the tip of raising them up.. My drier sits on a school desk for that very reason. I could possibly do that in the laundry. but its in the brain for the future. That was lucky - a good thing your Dr is paranoid Kazza. (26-09-2025, 01:39 PM)popeye333 Wrote: And yes when I see who ever is my next Dr I will get them to check what ever is on my back. When a friend died some years ago, we all painted things on her coffin, it was very colourful with flowers, trees etc. etc. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 26-09-2025 Just make sure the washing machine is secure and can't 'walk' off the desk. I'm a top loader fan after using our daughter's (then) front loader and seeing her MIL using hers. I nodded off! Slept for two hours, must have been tired. MrK and the Furry One are sound asleep as well. I can have a few minutes to enjoy my herbal tea. RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 26-09-2025 Popeye I believe less water is used and supposedly gentler on clothes but does take about an hour for a normal wash I've always been a front loader person then my last machine was purchased during the COVID lockdown so a top loader was all I could find so went with that. I loved being able to load from the top not front tho. It's one well but I still think 5 years is pathetic considering what you pay for them I just got a super cheapie one from trade depot this time. $349 and free delivery. Ordered Tuesday arvo and delivered 5.30 last night Definitely not complaining and so far it's amazing We turned our laundry into a walk in pantry so my laundry is outside in the garage so on a concrete floor with a customade native timber top sitting over it so it's absolutely brilliant Thanks everyone, my new gp is absolutely useless so not quite sure where to start the checking, but will check with him and go from there I have a brain meningenomia (not actively growing now that I stopped the depot injection) and also had ovarian cysts that had to be removed so I know I grow things well (not something to be overly proud of ) RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 26-09-2025 Thank you everyone re the washing machines etc. My new dryer is gentle, but I do check it when using it. Ive actually never looked at a front loader. And thinking about it, if I need another machine it will be what Winz pays for. And then I will pay it back. A lot of people moan about the Heiir Machines, but mine has never missed a beat, You simply have to Load them properly not throw stuff in. Zoe Im good at growing things too.. Generally all starting with G. Gall stones, ganglions and even an extra Gullet lol.. I seldom get sick, I've had the flu once, covid twice . But pretty much just need surgery to keep me going lol.. KM I hope you enjoyed your Tea and quiet time. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 26-09-2025 I broke my el cheapo wheeled writing table the other day. It has a wide cross brace that screws to the two metal D shaped legs, made of very soft particle board, which gave way. I had overloaded it too with my library books so my fault. Today I scooted down to the hardware shop and picked up a shelf which was a tad long but otherwise fitted fine, screwed it back into the legs then put the top back on original screw holes on one side, and jerry fitted the other side with one screw. Feels pretty stable to me. This is why I have 'carpenter' on my c v. Small c though, lol. It is very satisfying though to fix something without asking for help, especially when that something is so very useful, and I did miss it for those few days when it was in pieces! And the tank arrived today, oh it is so tempting to think about putting fish in it - but I will try to resist. Uh huh... I also like pulling things apart lol.. apparently so did My father. He was the toy tester for a couple of shops lol... Maybe put a big glass pot in the fish tank, Im thinking a trifle bowl on a stand so you can do ya plants in there but put water in the tank and perhaps have little Yuppies swimming around the outside of the bowl Enabling at mt best lol RE: You can never have enough... - Zoe jacks - 26-09-2025 Awesome hunni, go you I like Popeye love fixing things too. Love putting together flatpack furniture as well Haha Popeye, congrats on the 'g' growing We just re watched the netball from the other night and could see ourselves on tv (barely to be honest, but I'm now claiming we are famous) Planning on more gardening tomorrow as I'd really to get out the front done, then want to wind my new wool, and have a tutu and see if a blanket comes together. It's a bit daunting with the super chunky stuff lol. I normally work with 8 ply and occasionally 12 ply but this is next level If I could work out how to post pictures here I'd show you all for some advice Sleep well everyone Oh and Popeye.... Middle finger over first finger here RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-09-2025 Morning everyone Still Dark lol. Me to Zoe. It used to infuriate MrP . But it kinda made him worse when I was putting Pantries together on my own.. And it didn't help when his Cabinet maker brother showed me how to adjust the hinges etc..oops. Im in trouble. I have shut the bedroom door lol.. But she will get over it. Ill be home from this afternoon till Thursday morning lol. Ill give her a kissy treat when I get home lol. Have a fab day all.. and Cross those fingers I find two copies or more of the one book Im after. They are worth a pretty penny and it would make my CHCH sister friends day to get her a copy. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-09-2025 morning ladies ![]() ![]() Zoe, our first point of call for mrK was our GP. She is wonderful, pushy when she needs to be and very very kind. We changed doctors a few years ago after 30 years with our GP. I felt terrible about it, but needs must at the time. It has proven to be the best decision we made. I also enjoy fixing things if I can. There is something about giving things another chance. MrK has said he is going to teach me ![]() The little petticoat daffs have one flower, all those bulbs for one flower lol. Fingers crossed for next spring. The hyacinths are finally dying down so today I'll dig out a bigger pot and repot them. Then they can go to the back of the garden to finish dying off and prepare for next spring. The muscari can also be planted out under a camellia. I need the pot they are in ![]() ![]() Our road has gone very quiet, that usually means there is an accident somewhere on the Kaimais or thereabouts. The fog is starting to clear but we still can't see the Kaimai Ranges. Time to get moving, MrK needs a hand dressing. Have a good one. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 27-09-2025 I had a lovely chuckle popeye at the mental image of yuppies swimming around, it's guppies you hoot of a woman! I do love a good word mix up, I will always think of you when I see a guppy from now on, lol. And yes making the tank into a paludarium has crossed my mind, with water deep enough for really tiny fish and built up at the back to support plants. But then I'd be tempted into a waterfall so I could do ferns and orchids and the next thing you know I'd be back to more tanks - because I just do not know when to stop... Oh life is so good when there's a streak of madness in us! RE: You can never have enough... - Mica - 27-09-2025 Morning all Fine day weak sun tryingbto break through the cloud Zoe your blanket will grow fast usingnthe chunky yarn. Re photos below the text box we write our messages innis a blue strip attachments click on that and down load from your device. Sometimes I have had to reduce the size of the photo file. Just having a sit down after doing my Saturday cleaning chores loos and floors. I started making a Xmas Advent calendar yesterday went to get thread and saw a panel that you just fold to make to pockets easy peasie. Even started stitching she pocket bit yesterday today will free motion the top bit with Santa reindeer and xmas trees. Might have to make couple more so each DGK has one. We can't find the one I made for our kids that we tied chocolates on. It must be somewhere. OHH looking forward to seeing what you do with your tank Good luck finding your book Popeye Enjoy your day RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 27-09-2025 omg I never even picked that up lmao! yuppies-guppies lmao, too funny ![]() Zoe, to upload pics you need to click on 'new reply' rather than just following the thread ![]() Two very calming hours repotting bulbs and the hydrangea cuttings done and dusted. The muscari ended up in the garden and can go wild. And the clivias have had a top up with compost. At least I think they are clivias, they are a lovely red anyway. This morning MrK and I discussed what he wants to do with his tools. We'll wait and see his biopsy results first, but I suspect with his hip, he won't be using them. They're his, so he decides what is done. What, just a streak?. ![]() ![]() Sorry, completely unable to resist! ![]() Years ago,an ederly friend/rellie of mine was heading overseas & was invited to stay overnight before her early flight by the adult kids of some friends of hers. They were Yuppies & she was absolutely horrified that there was not one book in their entire house. And on the subject of books, I thought I might read Watership down again (once I finish Limitarianism) so went looking for it. Oh dear - NOT on the bookshelf I thought it was. So now, I'll have to search through the other five bookshelves. Its extremely lucky that you can never have too many books but it does make it a bit hard to find the one you want. Feeling quite virtuous, having done washing & hung it out & also planted two pumpkins & another row of runner beans. Probably a bit early for the pumpkins but will cover them with a milk bottle cover thingy at night. RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 27-09-2025 OMG hahaha I never even noticed.. Popped over to Briscoes and got some half price syrup.. Wish I had thought to take the only bottle I have too, but thankfully Briscoes always have sales so Ill get some next time.
