My neighbour came in to show me her birthday present at 2pm, to celebrate we had a wine and she had another... So I ordered pizza delivery at 5pm and finally ushered her out a few minutes ago...Well, you only turn 79 once in a blue moon, lol. She should sleep well! Good on you Hunnie.. glad you had a nice time. And you have done something I've never done lol.. never ordered a delivered pizza in my life, mainly cos I dont eat them ... Unless Your family owns a dairy next door to a pizza shop and I would swap a roast lamb meal for a pizza which only had cheese and bacon on, nothing else, with the cute guy who worked there.. not that my mother was too pleased cos she was a racist person who didn't like me flirting with an Indian who was sooo dammed cute lol.. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-10-2025 morning ladies ![]() So much fun, OHH ![]() ![]() Yesterday our GP phoned me (I missed her again) with the oncologist's phone number and suggested I phone to see what the delay is with having his first appointment. It is as we thought, they are waiting for the BRAFT results which take some time to do. The test is to see if MrK's DNA has a mutation which could be susceptible to a new drug. Fingers crossed as it may mean a pill instead of chemo. Today I'll ask the nurses if they can organise MrK's seating for his haircut on Thursday. The lady is coming to the rest home to cut it. I'll clean up the mess ![]() Safe travels, mica ![]() Have a good one! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-10-2025 Morning everyone Sort of sunny at the mo. KM take an old sheet in and put it on the floor. Then sit the chair on it. I used to do that with MrPs hair cut. They might have a lino floor you could do it on too, Im sure if you ask they will find somewhere. I did heaps of painting yesterday. Started doing some pretty colours.. and as I dont have anything I need to do today Ill do more. Thank you re comments. That one is one of my top favourites. It was one that had a white cover so you didn't know what you were doing until near the end. Not many come with white covers these days so you can see the picture as you do it. I've never been a social butterfly type, so very few parties or gatherings I've been too. For me a day Op-shopping is fun lol. My drinking days were the Bosses shouts on a Friday at one sewing factory I worked in. The first the Boss had to go buy more. He had no idea women could drink so much lol. Waiuku has the Longest Licensed pub in NZ. And I've been in it Once lol. When I was 21 . Its a beautiful old building but they have added on for a restaurant, and gone with Solar power. Still a beautiful building tho. Have a fun trip Mica.. Melbourne is my go to when I turn 65. Its the only way Ill see my twin again. Its 25 years at the end of December since we have seen each other so will be 30 by the time I can go and not lose my pay lol.. Although Im sure if I told WINZ it had been so long they would ok it. But Im happy to wait. Have a fab day everyone RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 08-10-2025 (07-10-2025, 05:41 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote:(07-10-2025, 12:36 PM)Lilith7 Wrote: That rest home sounds ideal, KM - if only they were all like that. Excellent, I'll have a look once I finish the book. As I read it, I'm thinking more & more what damned idiots we humans are. RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 08-10-2025 I hope it works out thatr Mr K only needs a pill, KM, that would surely be so much easier for him. Its been a bit of a day here. Out early to finally get to The Drawing Room for some acid free tissue, realised how long its been since i was last there when I over handed my card & she said they haven't used them for 6 (!) years now, they have points instead. Nice to be in that part of town again, Sydenham has a bit of character about it still despite losing one or two older buildings in the quakes. And I only bought two pastel pencils to try out, never used the pencils so will see - they were on special or wouldn't have succumbed. Home again, took Madame le Dog for walk, came back & had just had lunch when the sparky arrived to fix the bathroom fan. Put a couple of strudels in oven for the freezer & sweerie darling no. 2 arrived; if he's working locally he sometimes comes here & has his lunch. He's trying to sort out the affairs of a recently dead extended family member at present, whose closer famly don't live nearby, one's presently in the UK & unable to get home for a few weeks. I suggested he contact CAB as they do free legal advice - & pointed out that its all good practise for when I exit stage left.. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 08-10-2025 I've organised help with MrK's haircut, and the rest home manager wanted the hairdresser's details as they have been looking for someone to come to the home to cut the resident's hair for a while now. There is a spot by the handbasin near his bed that has a vinyl floor so that should do the trick. I asked them to show me where the vacuum cleaner is kept but no, we can do that. And they will shower him afterwards to wash away any loose hair and to prevent that itchiness hair causes sometimes. Tomorrow my sister-in-law is coming with me to the book fair before visiting MrK ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 08-10-2025 Oh that is awesome KM.. Cant I ask what nationality the staff are at the home? There were 2 possibly 3 non coloured people ( that's about the best way of putting it) at the first rest home. A lot of Filipinos and islanders. The Manager even put posters on the walls pointing out what the plates and saucers were for, looked like etc. Some of them cared but not many. They no longer have a hair dresser or little shop so unless people have family and there are several that dont, they will be long haired hippies with no deodorant. Done quite a bit of painting today. Im in the mood to design another house. Will have to dig some paper out.. Its in my head so need to get it out onto paper. It changes as my life does. Ive designs houses since I was a kid. My grandmother did the same. She got to live in her design, I haven't yet. And the first thing I saw on FB when I turned it on is a house design that is so stupid, I couldnt imagine anyone living in it lol RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-10-2025 morning ladies ![]() ![]() This morning I'm taking one of my sisters-in-law to the local book fair and then on to visit MrK. I'll stay until the hairdresser has been. The staff are happy to help with him move onto the vinyl flooring for easy cleanup. Although I'm sure the hairdresser will have a ground cloth. Not much stitching has been done, I just can't seem to concentrate on it at the moment. And what I do, do, ends up being unpicked. Better to leave it for a few days. The Furry One is demanding some play time, he is missing his dad. When I bring MrK's washing home he buries his nose in the clothes before they are washed. Have a good one! RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-10-2025 Morning everyone We are lucky to have nice sunrises. Mind you here we have beautiful sunsets off the coast too. Im glad the furry one still has you at home KM.. its very hard for them. I used to bring MrPs washing home, but in the end let them do it, minus hand knits of course. And they labeled everything after I had anyway. Di and I are doing our bloods together again lol and then we will do the oppies and get something nice for lunch. Paul is going with her for the next two chemos as she has later appointments, so Ill nip to Pukekohe tomorrow to do my groceries. Have a fab day all RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-10-2025 I soon learnt with my Mum not to buy her nice things because they'd go to the laundry and never be seen again, no matter how well labeled. Theft was rampant in both rest homes and if we complained we were told it was our fault somehow, as if their residents didn't deserve good stuff. Or useful stuff like teeth and reading glasses. I wonder now if such deprivations were used as not so subtle punishments... Last night the Moon rose early and in just the right spot to send a patch of moonlight onto the pillow next to mine. I took that as a message from the Universe and slept beautifully for nine glorious hours. My garden stuff was delivered last night, our local Hammer Hardware boss brought it right on Happy Hour as we sat in the sun with glasses of rose under the sun umbrella, living the best life of retired layabouts. He'll have to come back tonight though, he only brought one bag of the two vegie mix bags I ordered and paid for so I'll ring them later this morning and growl, lol. But it means I can start the refreshing of the potted garden, and plant out some seedings. Should keep me quiet for a while... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-10-2025 (09-10-2025, 07:00 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: I soon learnt with my Mum not to buy her nice things because they'd go to the laundry and never be seen again, no matter how well labeled. In my case I had to threaten to get the cops over MrPs blanket. Got it in the end and it went with him. Mums blanket was never found, and it still upsets Dianne a bit. It was her grandmothers blanket which was handed down to Mum. RE: You can never have enough... - Roma - 09-10-2025 Hi all, Long time ... no see! Life has been racing on by with ups and downs which are part of everyone's lives! Being locked out of here and thinking I'd forgotten my password kept me on the momentum of having a break from social media for a bit! A quick catch up in here I see a few things happening, especially in your world KM. Glad Mr K in the nice local hospital for respite care. I know the place well and used to regularly enjoy the company of the resident tabby (reclined on a waiting room chair next to me) as I waited for my appt (visiting specialist). Agree, lovely staff as well. Yes, it's great to have our gardens and interests to be in our happy places. A close family member marriage separation and further spinal surgery for Mr R gives good reason to keep hands and mind occupied currently! Time to move, have a good day all. RE: You can never have enough... - kiwimade64 - 09-10-2025 OH wow, Roma! We were all wondering where you were and hoping you would find us again ![]() ![]() yep, a lot has been happening over the last few weeks, all part of life, I suppose. I haven't taken anything precious up to the rest home. I choose to take his washing home firstly as I don't mind doing it and will have mine to do anyway and secondly, the staff have enough to do without having to do this. Just a small act of appreciation from me. And you can see it on their faces when I tell them to leave his clothes, they do appreciate it. The embroidery I was starting while sitting with MrK needed unpicking as I've had a better idea for the lion's mane. Now to remember how to do the stitch I have in mind lol. Our daughter has 'borrowed' my favourite embroidery book (Royal School of Needlework) and I suspect it has gone the way of my old sewing machine, never to come home again. I'll have to use the RSN stitch bank online to refresh my memory. AND they often have the left handers version of stitches too ![]() RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-10-2025 Oh tg Roma! Welcome home, lol... RE: You can never have enough... - Lilith7 - 09-10-2025 Glad you made it back Roma. A while ago I weakend & bought a pair of trousers with colourful cats all over them, they arrived but of course a bit too long so have just taken them up & will try them on later. If they're still too long or too baggy, may turn them into harem pants, just gathered at the bottom. Not a fan of hand sewing so hope they don't need it. I really should never buy books online - in looking for a particular one the other day, I managed to end up with three... RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-10-2025 Harem pants huh? And here's me unpacking a midi length black tulle and lace underskirt with vast amounts of glee this morning... RE: You can never have enough... - popeye333 - 09-10-2025 Welcome Home Roma, so glad you found us again. Yep things keep moving along. Have had a lovely morning out with Dianne. Ending with a hot pie and half a donut for lunch.. Got my glue gun and found a cool set of cookie cutters in St Johns oppie. Its all the letters of the alphabet and only $4. I have been looking for two particular Money boxes, I have a thing for them. The Large Pigs with a little hat on top. from the 70s Id guess. My Sister had a pink one. Dianne has one each for the grandies that are filling up nicely. I have always wanted one.. BUT Ive also wanted one of those big metal tins with the $100 note on the side and found one in one of our cheapie $2 type shops. We were hunting for a birthday card but went right around the shop and found it. She took her license into Winz as she has done her application for the pension.. She is so excited to have that coming in next month. She doesn't like to spend hubbies wages so this will be good for her. She made a great suggestion, why dont I change the drawer handles on the two cabinets we made for the lounge. Hadn't thought about it but they will be the same as the ones I got for the table.. So Ill order those when I do my next order.. Will be cool they will match. While I was waiting outside for Di to arrive I noticed the peach tree has blossoms, and the lemon and grapefruit are Loaded in blossoms. Cant wait to pick my own plums and peaches. Hunnie I noticed this morning on FB you and my sister share the same birthdate. Thank goodness your not like my brother who is the day after yours and my mother the next day. Di is the 19th and she too is a Good Scorpio person. I know more than enough bad ones. Nice to have two nice ones again. RE: You can never have enough... - Oh_hunnihunni - 09-10-2025 My parents were 3rd and 4th, Guy Fawkes 5th, me on the 6th... And my witchy Scottish grandmother on the 12th.
