Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 04-03-2022

thoroughly enjoying the free to air coverage.
i used to enjoy the mens game but wont pay sky to watch it.
its a great way to build a game, put it on.

listening to the jamaican accented lady commentator takes me back.
during my misspent youth i spent some time (5 months) in negril and Red Rock in the 80's.
its a beautiful accent imho

Tough ask for the Kiwi girls to chase down a record score.

I actually would like to give Sky TV a big thumbs up for supplying this free to air coverage for everyone to enjoy.
I guess it remains to be seen how long that will continue the deeper we get into the tournament.

Between Sky Sport or Spark Sport someone will have to pay eventually. Enjoy it while we can huh.

theres life in the kiwi girls yet
mercurial the 50 over game
changes in an over

I think this might be it in terms of freebies, aside from a daily highlights package... at 7am.

It's going to be a very short-lived thumbs up to Sky.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - ObeWan - 04-03-2022

Looks like we will get the NZ vs Aus match on Sunday 13th then things look to move to Sky Sport as I imagined.
But take what we can.

so i'll be back to pirating it? never mind.

Restricted crowds. You might have to watch thru the fence.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 04-03-2022

looked like plenty of vacant real estate in the stands.
if we start doing well i imagine it will get harder to get in

must go see the odds at the tab

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - ObeWan - 04-03-2022

I may be wrong but I think there is a maximum crowd of 1000 total, in groups of 100 maximum and that is usually the teams, coaches, family and usual other riff raff and hangers on.
But I recall Hipkins saying that is all under review.
You might get in just as the tournament winds up.
Are you at the Mount?

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 04-03-2022

no, Welcome Bay.
mount is for airB&Bs and tourists
no one lives at the mount anymore, seems everyone just visits.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 05-03-2022

the girls took it down to the wire but unfortunately beaten by a better team on the day.
maybe a good way to start the competition, with a wake up call.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - ObeWan - 05-03-2022

Yeah, unfortunate end for our girls.
I think they would have made their tournament calculations based on a win against WI.
As it is a round robin points tournament they have put themselves a bit behind the eight ball.
Only the top four advance to the semis, so now they will need to beat one of the big three; Australia, England or South Africa all of whom rank above us, and as we have seen India will be a real threat.
There are tough games ahead but I wish them all the best, it will be fascinating.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 05-03-2022

we make better underdogs than we do favourites

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - ObeWan - 10-03-2022

Must win game for the girls today.
Not an ideal start, but plenty of time left.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - yousnoozeyoulose - 10-03-2022

As is typical for NZ cricket, we're super reliant on our top order performing. We're heavy on all-rounders and light on proper batters - no doubt the result of so much T20 and ODI, and the loss of Lauren Down pre-tournament can't have helped.

The women's game doesn't seem to have the drive for specialism for some reason - it's seemingly a case of you do a little of this and a little of that.

And boom, losing Devine, it now becomes a little wobbly...

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 11-03-2022

still alive, it wasnt pretty yesterday but we'll take it nonetheless.
cant go up against the australians two in hole already.
i hope we have the depth to carry it off.

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - Magoo - 13-03-2022

promises to be a decent game today.
positively balmy here in tauranga
the australians remain unbeaten so have to go in favoured.
which bodes well for us

RE: Womens Cricket World Cup - an amniote - 13-03-2022

Cool, thanks!

Is there a low res option? My 4G internet is too weak and the stream is full of interruptions. Sad
