That kiwisaver thing this week - Oh_hunnihunni - 03-09-2022 Always interesting when the media actually does what they are supposed to do and looks underneath the events of the day to see what the real story is... https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/opinion-analysis/300676286/no-gst-on-kiwisaver-what-about-charging-it-on-mortgages RE: That kiwisaver thing this week - Lilith7 - 03-09-2022 (03-09-2022, 09:09 AM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: Always interesting when the media actually does what they are supposed to do and looks underneath the events of the day to see what the real story is... Sometimes a govt wakes up in the nick of time & avoids making a disastrous mistake. For which they're criticised, & fairly so. I'm not sure what it is but something about Nicola Willis reminds me strongly of Ruth Richardson, never a good thing. Good name for her. I think we have reached the period when all decisions will be based on what they think voters will vote for - the political silly season. As far as GST on financial fees goes, it should be all or none, like everything else. Overall I'd say not. Partly to keep it simple - adding complexity to those charging the fees will just cost more overall - and partly because increasing the fees on peoples borrowing and lending just makes it more expensive for those who need those services the most. Of course they will be hoping to avoid that memory, but at the moment they did the right thing - oppose. They are the opposition party and it's their job to oppose which they did very effectively this time. maybe starting to learn how. And they should all have far more maturity, & learn to put aside differences when needed & work together for the good of the country.(05-09-2022, 11:46 AM)Lilith7 Wrote: I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure that they didn't want anyone to mention that....
