Years ago a NZ was fine. Word of warning, don't let the other half read maps -- miss the turnoff and you may have to go for miles to get back to where you wanted to be. Navigation wise take your car GPS with you with a set of AU maps loaded. Just adhere to road rules including speed as the cops don't muck around and possibly as a result the standard of driver discipline is way higher than in NZ.
