Remove Facebook from PC - Bryan - 30-01-2023

I have installed Facebook for my wife onto two PCs. I want to remove one of these from one of the PCs running Windows 11. From what I can see it is not as easy as removing a program or APP. Any advice please?

Interesting that the Facebook icon appears on the Desktop as a shortcut. When looking at the Properties of the Icon it points to a URL. Therefore, it would seem that no programs are loaded on the PC. I would think that a simple delete of the shortcut is all that is needed. Any thoughts please?

sounds right - you have a shortcut link on the desktop by the sounds of it.

You can usually create one for any website by selecting the website address from the address bar in your browser and dragging it to the desktop

Face book basically has two options, either by a Browser ( Edge, Chrome, Firefox etc) OR Facebook Messenger.

Via a browser is ONLY a link to the web site.

Messenger you can uninstall via Programs / Apps.

If its Via the browser you have the option like many other sites to auto login when visiting. Exact Location depends on the Browser.

I dont think you "Install"Facebook, you just go to the website and enter your password and user name, perhaps by going into your settings in your browser and removing password and username you wont be able to log in to Facebook on that computer.

Yes. It's a website, not a program on your own device.

Facebook is just a website, not a thing you install on your PC.
In saying that, Ive worked on several machines where ive seen software they supply such as "facebook gameroom" or their messenger app.
Ive also seen a facebook app that claims to be from facebook itself on some PC's, but ive never found any official download link, they all seem to be downloaded from third parties such as softsonic.
Ive removed it on all the computers ive worked on and no one has complained to me about loosing any facebook functionality so I doubt its even anything these people were using to access facebook.

As a thought though, Chrome does allows you to 'install' any website as an app - might be causing some confusion

Just went to the MS store and the only option was to "open" I know that I didn't install FB (Normally use a browser), but on saying that it is also listed in the installed Apps, and can be uninstalled like any other application.
