Video subtitles - Bryan - 13-07-2023

I have some musical videos that have had subtitles added purportedly to show the lyrics. Most, if not all, are so terrible. The person who does this has no concept of the English language and they are so wrong. Is there any program that can remove subtitles from a video?

with subtitles they are either hardcoded into the video or reside as a separate stream or attached file.

That latter two allow you to turn the subtitles off in the media player settings, the former is a pain in the proverbial to deal with because they original video data behind the subtitles has been overwritten.

The only real option for hardcoded videos is to crop the video, basically cut off the offending section of the video.

alternatively someone could try and blur over the subtitles, but to my knowledge this must be done manually, not aware of any automatic find and blur subtitles apps.

Easiest option imho is to try and obtain new copies of the videos without the subtitles

ConvertXtoDVD has a good Subtitle Manager to deal with added subs.
Been using it for years for this purpose. Just configure the settings before converting.
