Florida approves climate denial videos as part of school curriculum - C_T_Russell - 24-09-2023

Good news, because the kids should be presented both sides of the argument.

I would say once a few of the folks down Florida way experience a few more hurricanes, and the insurance companies subsequently refuse to insure for hurricane damage (already happening), and a few folks lose their homes and/or money - then some things might change... Unfortunately some people are slow learners.

But I agree that showing both sides of the argument is a good thing, as long as each argument is presented with the full story, or science in this case, and unbiased...

The 'information' they're giving kids though is very obviously biased & according to the article, distorted. You have to feel sorry for any teachers who disagree with the backward views but have to teach it anyway.

Well if these kids are smart enough they should figure it out on their own.
Either way, mankind is a blip on the earths history. The earth has frozen and melted heaps of times over millions of years.

Kid's minds are very impressionable by way of the information they are exposed to, as are some adults it would seem.

Sure our planet's environment has changed markedly over the millennia and the period during which humans have been part of the biosphere. The issue is that we have evolved to become a highly dominant species that has gained the ability to change the environment we are part of and unless we desist in our destructive ways our very survival will be under threat.

Here in New Zealand we enjoy an extremely benign climatic zone which acts not only as a buffer before weather events become life threatening but also as a blindfold to those who are in denial of the effects of climatic change. The destructive effects of changing climatic zones will (or already are) eroding the buffer we enjoy and it is up to every one of us to do what we can to mitigate the harm we are inflicting on our environment. To deny that including laying blame on others is a falsity which shows a lack of personal responsibility for our actions.

The purpose of education is to impart knowledge that other more cleverer people have already learned or discovered.  Although part of learning is learning how to determine fact from fiction, kids should not have to work out on their own if something already known to be false is in fact false.

There are more than enough parents in the world imparting their warped worldview on kids as it is without the state doing so as well...

And with corporates doing their best to fool the slow witted with this sort of BS the kids need all the reliable knowledge they are able to absorb.
