You really have to hope that's not genuine..

RE: Coming to America if Trump Gets In - zqwerty - 13-07-2024

Trump just had a meeting with the group that wrote the manifesto on his behalf.

There is a big push now to malign Trump:

SO glad we don't live there; but you have to feel for the poor sods who do. Their possible future if Trump wins is terrifying.

And damage NATO. And promote the war industry, among others...

"Christian Nationalism", they're here in NZ as well.

Don't get me wrong I am a Christian, an Anglican, but not of the American Mickey Mouse type, born again etc.

It isn't looking good at all; any rights for women may disappear fairly quickly & there's always the possibility that some of the states with more moderate & up to date views may try to remove themselves from the backward idiocy of Trump & co.
Which could be disastrous.

Trump is just riding the wave of Right Wing Christian Nationalism which has been on the rise for the last 20 years or so. I don't think he has any deep loyalties except the acquisition of money. He is a shape shifter doing whatever is required to increase his influence and gain power.

The dissolution of the idea of the separation of Church and State.

One of the reasons why people went to America in the first place was to get away from religious persecution.

But unfortunately the crazy Christian factions in America (Born Agains) have got the idea that the American Founding Fathers were holding Christian beliefs when they created the Founding documents for the Democracy of the U.S.A.

"The Founding Fathers of the United States, commonly referred to as the Founding Fathers, were a group of late-18th-century American revolutionary leaders who united the Thirteen Colonies, oversaw the War of Independence from Great Britain, established the United States of America, and crafted a framework of government for the new nation.

The Founding Fathers include those who signed the United States Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the United States Constitution and others. In 1973, historian Richard B. Morris identified seven figures as key founders, based on what he called the "triple tests" of leadership, longevity, and statesmanship: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington.[2]

Most of the Founding Fathers were of English ancestry, though many had family roots extending across various regions of the British Isles, including Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Additionally, some traced their lineage back to the early Dutch settlers of New York (New Netherland) during the colonial era, while others were descendants of French Huguenots who settled in the colonies, escaping religious persecution in France."

Listening to the Trump speech... Oh boy, dismantle, dismantle, dismantle.

RE: Coming to America if Trump Gets In - Lilith7 - 19-07-2024

There's a possibility that Kamala Harris might step up.
If Biden steps aside she may be a possibility, & has experience as vice president

Christian right wing Nationalism. They don't seem much different to fascists.

Another possibility I've seen mentioned is Michelle Obama. Her experience as First Lady gives her some potential credentials though from the commentary of RadioNZ's US contact this morning it sounds like there is a degree of animosity between the Biden and Obama camps.

It's going to be an interesting process over the next days and far from straightforward.

She'd probably be the best possible candidate but she doesn't seem keen on the idea; that could change of course.

He just is not a trustworthy person. He has some of the worst qualities for a politician (which is saying something!) & is somehow able to get away with virtually claiming that black is in fact white & then changing that the following week, day or even hour, to the exact opposite.

And his supporters somehow persuade themselves  to go along with it. And with everything he says & does; which is extremely scary - do those supporters know nothing about what could happen, nothing about history, nothing about Hitler & WW2?
He refers to opponents as 'vermin', claims that 'immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country' exactly as Hitler did - & they say nothing. They do nothing. They just accept it, because he's constantly promising to 'make America great again'.

I cannot understand how anyone can be so utterly gullible... Dodgy

And now, he's claiming to have 'taken a bullet for democracy' fgs!

"I stand before you only by the grace of almight god'

Yeah, really? So where the hell is that thunderbolt when its needed then...

And what's more, hinting at a revival after dying!

“When I rose, surrounded by Secret Service, the crowd was confused because they thought I was dead,” he said."

He's very far from being a saint:

”His attempts to ban nationals from a list of Muslim-majority countries caused chaos at American airports early in his presidency and border restrictions implemented later led to an outcry about crying children separated from their parents at detention centres.”
