Trying to find a TFX style power supply... - Agent_24 - 15-07-2024

Does anyone know where I may find a TFX style power supply for an SFF PC?
(at least, for less than the ludicrous $180+ $60 shipping option from the only (Australian) seller on TradeMe, anyway)
For reference I've attached a stock photo...
Or if anyone has one? Even faulty may be fine as power supplies are often repairable.

I'm sure I have purchased a silverstone TFX at some stage and that was probably from Dove electronics, but I see they don't list them any more.

what about one out of another SFF pc - I have an old acer veriton x480g which apparently has one of these - cable lengths might ve an issue?

i'm happy to pull it out and take some measure ments for you if you like...

or $50 on Aliexpress

That Acer one is the wrong size (going by the eBay listing) at 90mm tall unfortunately, so wouldn't fit in the case. It needs to be 85x65mm and less than 170cm long, but thanks for looking.

Maybe AliExpress is an option... although they may well just shove it in a courier bag with no packaging, and you receive a bag full of twisted metal and shards of electronics... or so I've heard

Maybe another one will turn up on TradeMe eventually...

also keep an eye out for cheap PCs on trademe that are likely to have the correct PSU, i've had to do that before...

seen this one?

might be worth asking the question to confirm the length

No Idea what the postage would be, but Available from Amazon. BTW - Aliexpress -- Get items often, even Laptop Screens, never had any damage on anything.

Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/CiT-Switching-Power-Supply-Desktop/dp/B0C5RV9G54

Product Dimensions ‎17.5 x 8.5 x 6.5 cm; 830 g

Last item I got from amazon, was 1/2 the price of the exact same thing here, even with postage.

Aliexpress do have a bunch of TFX power supplies listed as well... often with free freight

Looks the right size but it's a non-standard 12-pin main power connector, so unfortunately not suitable. Probably one of those PSUs that only outputs 12v and the motherboard has all the DC-DC converters inbuilt or such.

However, I was inspired by that listing to do some more extensive searching and did find a few that should be suitable. So thanks for the suggestion, it helped, albeit indirectly.

Ive seen them listed on pbtech in the past.
Another thing worth checking if you have a local computer recycler in your area. Hamilton has Urban Miners for example, they would likely have one.

Probably, but I already found one on TradeMe.

PBTech did have one that would have fit, but it cost twice as much as the one I bought from TradeMe, and would have taken a month to ship, apparently.

And I wouldn't be surprised if you wait a month and then they tell you they couldn't get it.
