Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 24-07-2024 Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth https://www.nbcnews.com/science/environment/hottest-day-ever-recorded-rcna163262 RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - C_T_Russell - 25-07-2024 Just more alarmist propaganda. Look at this, they are even saying global warming is slowing days at an "unprecedented" rate whatever that means. Like 0.000001 seconds longer each day or some BS probably. https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240715-oh-my-long-days-melting-ice-caps-slow-earth-s-spin RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 25-07-2024 C_T_Russell, it must be hard for you living in a world where even facts aren't facts anymore. RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - king1 - 25-07-2024 well what they say makes an awful lot of sense - when you shift a mass from the top and bottom to the outer edges by the equator you are adding extra mass and/or weight which must act like a bit of a handbrake. It would require extra energy from within the planet to keep pushing it around at the same speed, which of course the Earth can't do... RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - Oh_hunnihunni - 25-07-2024 And then there's that wobble. Wobbles have a tendency to get worse fast. At almost unprecedented rates, one might say... RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - Lilith7 - 25-07-2024 (25-07-2024, 01:05 PM)Oh_hunnihunni Wrote: And then there's that wobble. As we totter outside, sunshade at the ready & bottle in hand as we search for water... ![]() The world's a weird place. And humans are crazy. ![]() RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 25-07-2024 We should be alright for a while in NZ, that's why I'm here. I knew this was going to be the future in the early 70's Look at where we actually are, lots of fish and plenty of space, far from big city centres: RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - Oh_hunnihunni - 25-07-2024 Lots of fish? Gerroff! Fish are friends, not food, lol. Thank goodness for trees, under those glorious branches the air is cooler. Be appreciative, hug a tree, plant a seed. Take a read of Helen Czerski's book Blue Machine and you'll better appreciate the impacts of ocean warming on the whole global environment. You may be forgetting something - the idiots in charge..... ![]() RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - Praktica - 25-07-2024 Almost everything we use is imported - apart from food. We older people rely on drugs to alleviate our ills - all imported. Very little clothing is made here, and few of the appliances we use. A life without the rest of the world would become uncomfortable, and short, very quickly. RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 25-07-2024 The rest of the world will be running into all sorts of problems, they won't be exporting once the rot really sets in, New Zealand is the least worst option, why do you think all the Billionaires are setting up shop here. AS for NZ and basic industries this is because of poor planning on behalf of successive governments of the past. Not setting up Fortress NZ will be just like not electrifying the main trunk line and diversify, diversify, diversify, but it's all too late now. RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 25-07-2024 Monday breaks the record for the hottest day ever on Earth https://apnews.com/article/hottest-day-ever-climate-change-weather-heat-extreme-global-warming-8e2b0b7fa0360ecb931ca333a832c694 "Driven by oceans that won’t cool down, an unseasonably warm Antarctica and worsening climate change, Earth’s record hot streak dialed up this week, making Sunday, then Monday, the hottest days humans have measured, according to the European climate service." Thank goodness we have so many op shops and the repair cafe movement is catching on. Now if we can just get industry involved... A life without the rest of the world would become uncomfortable, and short, very quickly. That would definitely help - after all, there was a time when we produced lots of different things which we no longer do. And recycling stuff just makes sense. RE: Sunday was the hottest day ever recorded on Earth - zqwerty - 26-08-2024 Thanks harm_less, very informative. |
